1980 & Newer MODIFIED CLASS RULES & REGULATIONS
General: Any American made car considered 1980& newer car class.
No 4WD, Jeeps, Utility, Carryalls, Imperials, Camaros, or Firebirds allowed.
Vehicle MUST have secured DOT approved seat belts.
A 2.5 lb. Dry chemical fire extinguisher mounted inside the car within the driver's reach is highly recommended.
Stripping: All glass, plastic, fiberglass, and chrome moldings MUST be removed prior to arrival of facility!
Station Wagon rear floor door must be removed.
No broken windows in doors.
No flammable materials such as carpets, upholstery or headliners can be left in the car.
Cars MUST be clean and free of loose objects inside and in the trunk area.
Both rear seats and insulation blanket under the hood MUST be removed.
Dashboards may be removed
Body:
NO WELDING OF INTERIOR SEAMS![/u]
Wheel wells may be cut up to 3" maximum to allow for tire clearance. Folded wheel well lip in 1" intervals- you may use bolts NO welding maximum of 8 bolts per wheel well. Sunroofs must be filled with a security fastened sheet. Front lower fender may be cut or folded to allow tire clearance. you may use bolts 2 bolts maximum NO welding. Rubber body mounts may be removed, Body bolts may be replaced with stock or up to 5/8" maximum bolts may be lengthened to travel through TOP HALF of frame and inside vehicle ONLY, with nuts 3" washers. Only the interior 3" washers (not nuts also) may be welded to inside of vehicle. Equal size flat stock drilled out, as washer is acceptable. NO ADDITIONAL BODY BOLTS MAY BE ADDED ANYWHERE! Rust spots may not be fixed.
Hood: Hood MUST have 10"-12" hole on either side of the air cleaner if the exhaust is not run through the hood. Hood may be secured in 6 spots by bolts, chains, or #9 wire, chain or wire NOT to exceed 3 loops. Hood hinges count as 2 secured points. Bolts or threaded rod may not exceed 1" in diameter and not to extend 6" above hood and a maximum length of 30" total. ONLY (2) bolts or threaded rod may be connected to frame. Front two bolts or threaded rods may be welded to frame but not to exceed weld of 6" only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rod must run vertical from frame to hood NO bending around frame will be permitted. If NOT running threaded rod through the front core support mounts you may have up to 1" X 6" long bolts and no more than 2 washers and 2 nuts in core support mounts. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6" X 6" in diameter and 1/2 " thick Chain or wiring may not attach to the frame but can attach to the bumper through the upper core support and hood. Chain or wire may not exceed 36" in length and no more than three loops. Secure your hood only AFTER your car passes tech inspection. NO chains or wire around frame. You may use up to (8) 3/8" bolts to fasten the two layers of hood together.
Trunk and Tailgate: Trunk MUST be empty and free of dirt and debris. Trunks may be tucked up to 50% but NO wedging, it must be secured with either chain or #9 wire, chain or wire NOT to exceed more than 3 loops or threaded rod on tailgates you may weld (2) plates of steel per vertical seam NO larger than 4X4X1/4". Trunk may be secured in 4 spots by bolts, chain, or #9 wire, wire or chain NOT to exceed more than 3 loops. Bolts not to exceed over 6" above trunk lid and a maximum length of 30" total. ONLY (2) bolts or threaded rods may be connected to frame and must remain horizontal. Trunk hinges count as 2 points of connection. You may weld to frame but welds not to exceed weld of 6" only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rods must run vertical from frame to trunk lid NO bending around frame will be permitted. Chains and wires not to exceed 24" in length and not to wrap around more that twice. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6" X 6" in diameter and 1/2" thick. Sedagon's are allowed but you may NOT chain or bolt roof down in any way. MUST remain free. Taillight panel MUST remain vertical in all classes.
Doors: All doors MUST be chained closed. The driver's door may be welded completely closed.
Driver's door may be closed ONLY with a steel rod 3/8" thick or less or 3" metal Band 114" thick and may be welded solid. NO welding on inside of doors. All remaining doors may be chained up to (2 chains #9 wire or cable may be used) chain or wire NOT to exceed more than 3 loops, or may be welded with up to (2) plates of steel no larger than 4X4X1/4" thick per each vertical door seam. If you go overboard you will be asked to cut your welds. Drivers and passenger interior door bars are recommended. You may weld them from your dash bar to the rear seat bar only and may NOT use any type of kickers. If you go over board you will be asked to cut your welds.
Windows: Two vertical steel bars MUST be run from the roof of the car to the body (not the hood) in front of the driver. Nylon racing type window nets are strongly recommended. MUST be able to remove quickly in case of emergency. We DO NOT recommend you to cover driver's window
with steel or mesh type material for safety access reasons. NO #9 wire in any windows.
Bumpers:Edit Added JUNE 14th:[/b] You may use a 4"X4"X3/8ths" or a 6" X 2" X 3/8ths pipe for front bumper. Not to extend beyond the width of the body, and MUST BE OPEN on both ends. Must be able to see through end to end.
welding. NO extra added steel to inside of bumpers or inside bumper shocks. NO welding of bumper seams! Thru bolting is acceptable (drilling a hole and running a bolt up & down through shock, to prevent shock pulling out) or a single strand of chain wire may be used as a retaining chain- NO wrapping around bumper. Bumpers may be trimmed. Folding ends are permitted; NO bolting or welding folded ends.
Bumpers may be turned upside down or front to back. Washers may be welded over the holes cut or drilled out in bumper for chaining or wiring purposes (3" maxim washers). You may use chain or #9 wire to wrap around upper core support to bumper BUT may NOT wrap around 3/4" rod. 3/8 chain or #9 wire MAY NOT exceed NO more than 3 loop's.
Interior: With the exception of floor shifters, ALL large holes in floor pans must be patched with sheet metal. Holes may be cut in the firewall to allow distributor cap or other components to move beyond the firewall. Any holes cut into the firewall for this purpose strongly recommended to be
covered with a non-flammable or rubber material. Driver's seat and DOT approved seatbelts MUST be securely mounted.
Chassis: Frame must be from same make and model vehicle with similar frame to body bolt pattern. Example - Impala to Impala, Crown Victoria to Crown Victoria and etc. Vehicle MUST have factory stock, upper and lower core supports - No seam welding on core supports. (NO FILLING FRAME WITH ANY TYPE OF MATERIAL). Frame welding you may weld front to rear top seam ONLY, NO more than 1/2' wide bead. NO adding any metal. NO laser cutting the frame, sand blasting, or painting will be allowed. Welding on or to the frame is indicated in specific cases throughout the rules. You may pre-bend your frame, cut and pitch frame and weld cut area but NOT to add any extra steel to the area that's been cut, or you may notch the frame. No welding frame to body. 1980 and newer cars may weld 1 plate of steel across rear hump on the outside of the frame not to exceed NO larger than 3" wide and 16" in length and NO thicker than 1/4" plate steel may be used. Plates may be welded on all four sides on one side of the plate only. Plates MUST remain rectangular shape NO cutting or modifying plates to fit the frame. 1980 & newer cars may weld 1 plate of steel in front end at the weakest point on the OUTSIDE of frame ONLY, NOT TOP, BOTTOM, OR INSIDE not to exceed NO larger than 3" wide and 16" in length and NO thicker than 1/4" plate steel may be used. Plates may be welded on all four sides. Plates must remain in one rectangular piece, may NOT cut and located in two places. You MAY bend your plates. Stubbing is allowed minimum of 18" behind the body bolt by crush box. You may use 1" metal band around cut area and may be welded no other reinforcement will be allowed. Interior bars are HIGHLY recommended. This consist with one bar across the dash, MUST remain above factory steering column bracket another, NO MORE than 12" behind the driver's seat and MUST be at least 18" from floor and remain horizontal, You may use interior door bars on both sides remember no kickers of any kind will be accepted. Bars may be mounted on 6" maximum plates welded or bolted on each end. Any size bars up to 6" diameter are acceptable. Bars MUST be chained or wired to inside of car. Chains may ONLY be from side to side and MUST ONLY be bolted or welded to the closest body bolts ONLY, NO exceptions. You may NOT chain to the body or around the frame. No crossing your chain. Rollover bars are permitted BUT MUST remain vertical ONLY. May NOT support to any other part of car. You may bolt or weld the roll over bar to your seat bar ONLY your roll over bar may NOT attached to your frame or body, and may NOT run any type of kickers off your roll over bar, seat bar, door bars, or dash bar. Trailer hitches and mounting brackets MUST be removed you may use stock or modified steering columns in all classes. You may replace or modify knuckles and/or joints in steering assembly. You may reinforce tie rods with angle iron or rod iron. NO sandblasting, painting, or undercoating any part of frame.
Rear Suspension: Bumper height maximum 22" from ground to bottom of bumper and it is strictly enforced. You may replace broken leaf springs. You may only run factory leaf springs, NO additional leafs will be permitted. Leaf springs MUST have factory spec type stagger. Cars with leaf springs you may use 4 clamps, wire, or metal strapping around each set of leaf springs per sides.
Coil springs may be changed but bumper height must remain 22" or less. SPRING SPACERS will be allowed BUT MUST BE SAFE. Official's decision will determine safety, MUST not be able to come out or you may weld or bolt A-frame not both. You may run 2 small chains, cable, wire, or 2 additional, body mounts in rear of sedans or wagons to support rear humps. Do NOT exceed 3
loops. Chain, cable or wire may be secured axle to frame only, or to coils. You may chain or cable rear humps to axle Chain or cable may NOT exceed NO more than 36" in length you may reinforce rear upper & lower control arms. Aftermarket or homemade control arms will be allowed MUST be able to resemble the stock control arms NO going overboard. Bumper height maximum 22" from ground to bottom of bumper and is strictly enforced.
Engine:You may swap motors in any class. (NO Diesel's) Firewall may be beat back or cut out for distributor clearance. Distributor protectors allowed but MUST be engine or transmission mounted from carburetor back to bell housing Dist. Protector MAY ONLY be 1" above the dist. cap MUST be 6" away from dash bar NO more than 12" wide on back side, and NOT to come in contact with dash bar before car is run, and not be excessive. Engine cradles are permitted BUT MUST ONLY be used to cradle the engine block MUST NOT come in contact with any other part of engine. Pulley protectors are NOT allowed. Motor may be chained to frame and motor mounts may be altered and strengthened provided this does NOT strengthen the frame or other non-related mounting components. Carburetor must have an air filter. NO ether. Hand throttles are acceptable. Headers and stacks are permitted. Must be completely vertical you may run a bar header to header for support. Carburetor protectors ARE allowed
Radiator: Radiator MUST be located in stock position. You may use Radi-barrels or other homemade type radiator. Radiator protectors are allowed steel mesh or similar material may be used NO larger than stock radiator size. Radiator protection may not attach to the frame core support only. Core support may be secured by replacing factory bolts to frame with maximum 1" diameter bolts. You may remove core support to frame mounts and bolt solid through top and bottom of frame. You may NOT reinforce or add any metal to core support other than washers and tabs for hood securing purposes. Nylon straps, bolts, steel bands, chain or wire may only be used to support radiator. Water only! Please flush out coolant. If you run a radiator fan you must run a hood.
Electrical: 2 (two) twelve volt or heavy equipment batteries are permitted. Batteries MUST be located inside of car on passenger's front floor, and MUST be securely mounted with a (4) point hold down on each and both MUST be covered. Batteries and boxes MUST be secured. Push button or toggle ignition and power hotwiring switches are acceptable. Solenoid, voltage regulators, coils and other electrical components may be relocated. Components may be enclosed, but not in such a way as to strengthen the car. All fuses must be removed except for the gauges charging the ignition system and electric radiator fan.
Transmission: Transmission coolers are acceptable in any class. Cooler may be mounted inside of car but MUST be NO larger than 24" x 24" x 18" this means that the complete unit including box around cooler NOT to exceed these dimensions. ALL LINES TRAVELING INSIDE OF DRIVERS COMPARTMENT, MUST USE METAL LINES OR HIGH PRESSURE HYDRAULIC LINES, AND RUN THROUGH SOME FORM OF ANOTHER HOSE. If it does not pass inspection you will be asked to loop it off. Shifting linkage may be altered, but cannot pose any kind of safety risk to the driver. Transmission mounts may be altered providing this does NOT strengthen frame.
Gas Tank: Six-gallon fuel cell highly recommended. Original gas tank MUST be removed you may NOT use original fuel tank inside car NO exceptions! Tank MUST be replaced behind the front seat in the middle of the car. Strongly recommended to mount your gas tank to your rear seat bar but you MAY NOT run any kickers. Sedans ONLY, are allowed a gas tank protector, NO larger than 6" bars and NO WIDER THAN 24", may rest against back seat panel but MAY NOT be attached to any part of the car, MUST angle in from rear seat bar. It may run straight back, NO kickers, and MUST be only in the center of the car. Tanks may be no larger than 6 gallon and MUST be metal and NO plastic or stock fuel tanks will be allowed, NO exceptions. Marine style gas tanks are acceptable. NO plastic or jerry cans. Tanks MUST be securely mounted and all connections must be secure and leak-proof. Stop check valves are highly recommended. All fuel lines MUST run inside car. Gas tanks must be completely covered. Tanks must be mounted separate from cover. Holes must be drilled under and around the tank cover in case of gas spillage occurs. Gas spillage WILL result in disqualification! Pump fuel only (NO Alcohol or methanol). Rubber fuel line highly recommended from gas tank to fuel pump. Electric Fuel pumps are acceptable but MUST have shut off switch within drivers Reach and clearly marked for fire officials. NO plastic lines.
Rear Differentials: 5 Lug maximum, No floater or ¾ ton rear ends will be permitted.. Locked or welded is permitted. Gears are permitted. Any drive shaft is permitted. .
Brakes: Brakes MUST be functional in the start of every heat or feature.
Tires and Rims: Any ply. 14', 15', & 16" tires are permitted maximum inch allowance of 30", 10"width. Double tires (tire-inside-tire), rubber inner-liners or solid rubber tires are acceptable. NO studded tires. NO wheel weights, double rims or split rims. Glue may be used to secure tire to the rim. no screws, rivets, or bead locks. Valve stem guards are permitted. Outside lugs on aggressive tires must be trimmed before tires can be used. MUST meet with Officials approval!

Body bolts and mounts must be factory you may NOT change them or replace the body mounts. Additional body mounts may NOT be added anywhere.

You may NOT weld any plates to the front or rear of the frame in this class. It is strongly recommended that you do run an interior or exterior drivers side door bar for safety. Horizontal bar may be put behind drivers seat MUST remain 18" from floor. It MUST be between 3" - 6" in diameter, MUST be hollow and NOT more than 18" above floor boards. It MUST be securely welded, bolted, chained or wired to inside of car, to door or door posts only and NOT have plates bigger than 6"X6" on ends. You may only use stock steering columns in this class. You may NOT reinforce any of your steering components or alter in any way. NO sandblasting, undercoating, or painting of the frame will be allowed. Trailer hitches and brackets MUST be removed.
REAR END & SUSPENSION: Shocks and suspension must NOT be altered in any way. NO increasing the height of vehicle from its factory height. Bumper maximum height is 22" from ground to bumper. Secured spring spacers may be used and coil springs may be tack welded. Stock rear ends ONLY. NO gear changes. You may Weld your rear end gears. You MUST have a stock 80 & newer rear end in your car NO exceptions will be allowed MUST be make for make. NO slider drive shaft or custom shafts will be allowed. You may customize if you run a Chevy Transmission to a ford rear end etc.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION: You may swap motors and transmissions in this class but they must remain stock spec's NO built motors will be permitted in this class. NO aluminum intakes, heads, & NO aftermarket carburetors MUST be stock. Chief Official will disqualify car if it seems to have a built motor in it. You may weld your motor mounts, or chain motor but MUST be within 5" of original place. Carburetor must have air cleaner. NO ether. Hand throttles are permitted. Must use stock transmission mounts and cross member. Transmission coolers are allowed. Transmission cooler MUST be NO larger than 24X24X18 or you may loop off your lines. Headers' are allowed but MUST remain vertical.
RADIATOR: Must be a stock radiator NO radi-barrels or protectors will be permitted. You MUST drain anti-freeze out and run with water ONLY.
FAN: If you run a radiator fan you MUST run with a hood.
GAS TANK: Steel boat tank or fuel cell will be allowed 6 gallon max capacity. You may attach your gas tank to the rear seat bar NO kickers. You must remove factory gas tank from its original position. Gas tank MUST be placed in the rear seat area behind the driver and MUST be securely fastened and all connections must be secured and leak proof. All fuel lines must run trough the inside of the car. Tanks MUST be completely covered. You may NOT use plastic or jerry cans. Rubber fuel line highly recommended. If running an electric fuel pump you MUST have a shut off switch within drivers reach and clearly marked for fire officials.
BRAKES: MUST be functional in the start of every heat or feature.
TIRES & RIMS: MUST be of factory size. You may run tire in tire. Fork lift tires will be permitted. You may use tubes.
FRIDAY NIGHT COMPACT TRUCKS, MINI VANS, & SUV'S
Any 2WD or 4WD compact Import or Domestic size pick-up trucks, Mini Vans, or SUV'S will be accepted. Any 4WD pick-up, mini vans, or SUV'S will need to remove front or rear drive shaft to compete. Manufacture of engine and vehicle MUST match, GM in GM Truck, Ford in Ford Truck, etc. All windows, taillights, headlights, chrome, mirrors, MUST be removed.
Truck Boxes: All Pick-up boxes must be the original equipment style. NO HOME MADE BOXES! No lift kits are allowed. Pick-up boxes may have additional 4 bolts per side to help secure safely the pick -up box to frame. Bolts used must be of similar size to bolts used from the factory on truck.
Doors and Cab: Drivers and passenger doors may be welded secure. All others must be chained, strapped, or bolted with no more than 36" of chain and no more than two bolts per door bolts not to exceed 1 inch in diameter. Washers or plates not to exceed 4 inches X 18 inches X 1/2 inch. You may mount with 1/2 inch thickness, one 6" maximum round pipe mounted horizontally from post to post behind the driver's seat. MUST be mounted 3" up or down from center of seat (Not including headrest). You may weld or bolt to--the sides. Plates not to exceed 6"X 6" with maximum thickness of 1/2" may be used. Bolts used on plates not to exceed 3/4" in diameter. Mandatory: pipe used MUST have a safety chain secured around it, and secured through the floor to the frame for
safety. Dash bar, rear seat bar, & door bars are strongly recommended. Hoods and Tailgates: Must be bolted with no less than 3/8 inch but no more than 1 inch, or chained with chains not to exceed 3 feet in length with 1 inch links and no welding, but not both. No more than 4 bolts may be used in the hood with plates not to exceed 6 inches square diameter. All hoods MUST have 15" square fire hole. You MUST have an air cleaner on carburetor. Tailgates may be welded to truck box or on van body to secure them for safety.
Bumpers and Fenders: May be trimmed or removed but not altered or reinforced. Mandatory trucks, mini vans, & SUV'S must have factory front and rear bumper at start of competition to compete. You may change non steel bumpers and replace them with a bumper of a similar type vehicle. NO car of full sized bumpers will be allowed.
Suspension: May NOT be blocked or altered. NO coil over shocks. All leaf springs on trucks or vans MUST have the standard number of springs for the vehicle being used in competition. NO overloads allowed. Strongly recommended to use #9 wire to wrap truck or van leaf springs 3 wraps max per front and rear of each spring. Truck suspension must meet with official's approval before competition.
Batteries: All batteries MUST be moved inside the truck or van, and MUST be bolted with a 4-point hold down system and MUST be covered for the protection of the driver.
Gas Tanks: Fuel tank should be relocated to the bed of the truck and attached to the floor or frame of the center front of the box. State approved boat gas tanks and approved fuel cells with all connections properly sealed MUST be used. All tanks must be encased in a wooden or metal box and strapped down securely. All original gas tanks MUST be completely removed. Electric fuel pumps must have emergency shut-offs. You may use factory gas tank but must have a cage built around it. With any fuel tank you may only use up to 6 gallons of fuel. NO ALCOHOL may be used.
Radiator: Due to EPA regulations, NO ANTI-FREEZE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE RADIATORS- WATER ONLY ALLOWED. (PLEASE FLUSH BEFORE YOU ARRIVE) NO truck, van, or SUV will be allowed to participate with the radiator or transmission cooler relocated. You may use radi-barrels and may use mesh type or similar material to cover radiator.

Seat Belts: All trucks and vans must be equipped with approved factory seat belts.
Tires and Rims: NO split rims allowed on trucks, vans, or SUV'S. All wheel weights must be removed from rims. Truck and van tires & rims MUST be stock size NO over sized tires & rims will be permitted. No ply restrictions. (ALL LUGS MUST BE TRIMMED ON GRIP TYPE TIRES)
Body Mounts: Undamaged body mounts may not be altered. If body mounts have been damaged, bolts may be replaced only with bolts of similar size.

COMPACT (4 Cylinder) & MID-SIZE (6 Cylinder) RULES & REGULATIONS PREPARATION:
Edit Added JUNE 14th:
In the compact and midsize class, you will be allowed to weld the suspension, but NO ADDING OF ANY MATERIALS ALLOWED. Also, You may also use a 4"X4"X3/8ths" or a 6" X 2" X 3/8ths pipe for front bumper. Not to extend beyond the width of the body, and MUST BE OPEN on both ends. Must be able to see through end to end.
Stripping: All glass, plastic, fiberglass, and chrome moldings must be removed prior to your arrival to the facility! Station Wagon rear floor door must be removed. No broken windows in doors. No flammable materials such as carpets, upholstery or headliners can be left in the car. Cars MUST be clean and free of loose objects inside and in the trunk area. Both rear seats and insulation blanket under the hood MUST be removed. Dashboards may be removed.
Body: NO WELDING OF INTERIOR SEAMS! Wheel wells may be cut up to 3" maximum to allow for tire clearance. Folded wheel well lip in 1" intervals- you may use bolts NO welding maximum of 8 bolts per wheel well. Sunroofs must be filled with a security fastened sheet. Front lower fender may be cut or folded to allow tire clearance - you may use bolts 2 bolts maximum NO welding. Rubber body mounts may be removed, Body bolts may be replaced with stock or up to 5/8" maximum bolts may be lengthened to travel through TOP HALF of frame and inside vehicle ONLY, with nuts 3" washers. Only the interior 3" washers (not nuts also) may be welded to inside of vehicle. Equal size flat stock drilled out, as washer is acceptable. NO ADDITIONAL BODY BOLTS MAY BE ADDED ANYWHERE! Rust spots may not be fixed.
Hood: Hood MUST have 10"-12" hole on either side of the air cleaner if the exhaust is not run through the hood. Hood may be secured in 6 spots by bolts, chains, or #9 wire you may ONLY use up to 3 loops. Hood hinges count as 2 secured points. Bolts or threaded rod may not exceed 1" in diameter and not to extend 6" above hood and a maximum length of 30" total. ONLY (2) bolts or threaded rod may be connected to frame. Front two bolts or threaded rods may be welded to frame but not to exceed weld of 6" only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rod must run vertical from frame to hood NO bending around frame will be permitted. If NOT running threaded rod through the front core support mounts you may have up to 1" bolts in core support mounts Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6" X 6" in diameter and 1/2 " thick. Chain or wiring may not attach to the frame but can attach to the bumper through the upper core support and hood. Chain or wire may not exceed 36" in length and no more than three loops. Secure your hood only AFTER your car passes tech inspection. NO chains or wire around frame. You may use up to (8) 3/8" bolts to fasten the two layers of hood together.
Trunk and Tailgate: Trunk MUST be empty and free of dirt and debris. Trunks may be tucked up to 50% but NO wedging, it must be secured with either chain, #9 wire, or threaded rod on tailgates you may weld (2) plates of steel per vertical seam NO larger than 4X4X1/4". Trunk may be secured in 4 spots by bolts, chain, or #9 wire. Bolts not to exceed over 6" above trunk lid and maximum length of 30" total. ONLY (2) bolts or threaded rods may be connected to frame and must remain horizontal. You may weld to frame but welds not to exceed weld of 6" only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rods must run vertical from frame to trunk lid NO bending around frame will be permitted. Chains and wires not to exceed 24" in length and not to wrap around more that twice. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6" X 6" in diameter and 1/2 ''thick. Sedagon's are allowed but you may NOT chain or bolt roof down in any way MUST remain free.
Doors: All doors MUST be chained closed. The driver's door may be welded completely closed. Driver's door may be closed ONLY with a steel rod 3/8" thick or less or 3" metal Band 114" thick and may be welded solid. NO welding on inside of doors. All remaining doors may be chained up to (2 chains or cable may be used) or may be welded with up to (2) plates of steel no larger than 4X4X1/4" thick per each vertical door seam. If you go overboard you will be asked to cut your welds. Drivers and passenger interior door bars are recommended. You may weld them from your dash bar to the rear seat bar only and may NOT use any type of kickers. If you go over board you will be asked to cut your welds.
Windows: Two vertical steel bars MUST be run from the roof of the car to the body (not the hood) in front of the driver. Nylon racing type window nets are strongly recommended. MUST be able to remove quickly in case of emergency. We DO NOT recommend you to cover driver's window with steel or mesh type material for safety reasons. NO #9 wire in any windows.
Bumpers
You may use a 4"X4"X3/8ths" or a 6" X 2" X 3/8ths pipe for front bumper. Not to extend beyond the width of the body, and MUST BE OPEN on both ends. Must be able to see through end to end.
[/size] Compact class may replace plastic or aluminum bumpers with a bumper off a similar make or model of car.
Interior: With the exception of floor shifters, ALL large holes in floor pans must be patched with sheet metal. Holes may be cut in the firewall to allow distributor cap or other components to move beyond the firewall. Any holes cut into the firewall for this purpose strongly recommended to be covered with a non-flammable or rubber material. Driver's seat and DOT approved seatbelts MUST be securely mounted.Chassis: Vehicle MUST have factory stock, upper and lower core supports - No seam welding on core supports. (NO FILLING FRAME WITH ANY TYPE OF MATERIAL). Interior bars are HIGHLY recommended. This consist with one bar across the dash, MUST remain above factory steering column bracket another, NO MORE than 12" behind the driver's seat and MUST be 18" from floor and remain horizontal, You may use interior door bars on both sides remember no kickers of any kind will be accepted. Bars may be mounted on 6" maximum plates welded or bolted on each end. Any size bars up to 6" diameter are acceptable. Bars MUST be chained or wired to inside of car. Rollover bars are permitted BUT MUST remain vertical ONLY. May NOT support to any other part of car. You may bolt or weld the roll over bar to your seat bar ONLY your roll over bar may NOT attached to your frame or body, and may NOT run any type of kickers off your roll over bar, seat bar, door bars, or dash bar. Trailer hitches and mounting brackets MUST be removed. You may use stock or modified steering columns in all classes. You may replace or modify knuckles and/or joints in steering assembly in all classes. You may reinforce tie rods with angle iron or rod iron. NO sandblasting, painting, or undercoating any part of underbody.
Rear Suspension:
[/color]:In the compact and midsize class, you will be allowed to weld the suspension, but NO ADDING OF ANY MATERIALS ALLOWED Bumper height maximum 22" from ground to bottom of bumper and it is strictly enforced. Coil springs may be changed but bumper height must remain 22" or less. Leaf springs MUST be FACTORY stock on the rear, make, and model of car, and mounts can NOT be modified. MUST be stock amount of leafs. You MAY use up to two clamps per set of leaf springs, NO suspension conversions are allowed. SPRING SPACERS will be allowed BUT MUST BE SAFE. Official's decision will determine safety, MUST not be able to come out, or you may weld A-frame not both. You may run 2 small chains, cable, or wire to support rear humps. Do NOT exceed 3 loops. Chain, cable or wire may be secured axle to frame only, or to coils. You may chain or cable rear humps to axle chain or cable may NOT exceed, NO more than 36" in length.
Engine: You may swap motors in any class. Firewall may be beat back or cut out for distributor clearance. Distributor protectors and coil protectors are allowed. NO engine or pulley protectors allowed. Motor may be chained to frame and motor mounts may be altered and strengthened provide this does NOT strengthen the frame or other non-related mounting components. Carburetor must have an air filter. NO ether. Hand throttles are acceptable. Headers and stacks are permitted must be completely vertical.
Radiator: Radiator MUST be located in stock position. You may use Radi-barrels or other homemade type radiator. Radiator protectors are allowed steel mesh or similar material may be used NO larger than stock radiator size. Radiator protection may not attach to the frame core support only. Core support may be secured by replacing factory bolts to frame with maximum 1" diameter bolts. You may remove core support to frame mounts and bolt solid through top and bottom of frame. You may NOT reinforce or add any metal to core support other than washers and tabs for hood securing purposes. Nylon straps, bolts, steel bands, chain or wire may only be used to support radiator. Water only! Please flush out coolant. If you run a radiator fan you must run a hood.
Electrical: 2 (two) twelve volt or heavy equipment batteries are permitted. Batteries MUST be located inside of car on passenger's front floor, and MUST be securely mounted with a (4) point hold down on each and both MUST be covered. Batteries and boxes MUST be secured. Push button or toggle ignition and power hot wiring switches are acceptable. Solenoid, voltage regulators, coils and other electrical components may be relocated. Components may be enclosed, but not in such a way as to strengthen the car. All fuses must be removed except for the gauges charging the ignition system and electric radiator fan.
Transmission: Transmission coolers are acceptable in any class. Cooler may be mounted inside of car but MUST be NO larger than 24" x 24" x 18" this means that the complete unit including box around cooler NOT to exceed these dimensions. ALL LINES TRAVELING INSIDE OF DRIVERS COMPARTMENT, MUST USE METAL LINES OR HIGH PRESSURE HYDRAULIC LINES, AND RUN THROUGH SOME FORM, OF ANOTHER HOSE. If it does not pass inspection you will be asked to loop it off.
Gas Tank: Six-gallon fuel cell highly recommended. Original gas tank MUST be removed may NOT use original fuel tank inside car NO exceptions except where stated. Tank MUST be replaced behind the front seat in the middle of the car. Strongly recommended to mount your gas tank to your rear seat bar but you MAY NOT run any kickers. Tanks may be no larger than 6 gallon and MUST be metal and NO plastic or stock fuel tanks will be allowed, NO exceptions. Marine style gas tanks are acceptable. NO plastic or jerry cans. Tanks MUST be securely mounted and all connections must be secure and leak-proof. Stop check valves are highly recommended. Gas tanks must be completely covered. Tanks must be mounted separate from cover. Holes must be drilled under and around the tank cover in case of gas spillage occurs. Gas spillage WILL result in disqualification! NO gas tank protectors will be allowed except a cage around the tank. Pump fuel only (NO Alcohol or methanol). Fuel Line rubber fuel line highly recommended from gas tank to fuel pump. Electric Fuel pumps are acceptable but MUST have shut off switch within drivers Reach and clearly marked for fire officials. NO plastic lines. You may run a gas tank protector in the Compact, or Mid-size Class Sedans ONLY, BUT MUST remain according to our spec's. No larger than 3" bars and NO wider than 18", may rest against back seat panel but MAY NOT come in contact to any part of the car, MUST angle in from rear seat bar. It may run straight back, NO kickers, and MUST be only in center of car.
Brakes: Brakes MUST be functional in the start of every heat or feature.
Tires and Rims: Any ply. 12", 13", 14"or 15"tires are permitted. Maximum allowance of 25" tall & 7" width double tires (tire-inside-tire), rubber inner-liners or solid rubber tires are acceptable. NO studded tires. NO wheel weights, double rims or split rims. Glue may be used to secure tire to the rim- no screws, rivets, or bead locks. Valve stem guards are permitted. Outside lugs on aggressive tires must be trimmed before tires can be used BUT MUST meet Officials approval.
SUNDAY EVENING FULLSIZE TRUCK & SUBURBAN DERBY RULES & REGULATION
FULLSIZE TRUCKS & SUBURBANS: 1/2 ton, 3/4 and 1 ton 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive pick-up trucks or suburbans. If using a 4 wheel drive truck you MUST remove front drive shaft to compete. Extended & crew cab trucks allowed. NO dually trucks.
Stripping: Remove all glass, a metal screen must be securely fastened in place of windshield in front of the drivers view, a windshield brace also MUST be added, extending from firewall to the roof and securely fastened at both ends. Remove all outside chrome and trim pieces. Remove all flammable materials from the interior, except the driver's seat. All loose material MUST be removed from the truck (i.e., plastic, glass, etc.)
Truck Boxes: All pick-up boxes must be the original equipment style. NO HOME MADE BOXES! Pick-up boxes may have an additional 4 bolts per side to help safely secure the pick-up box to the frame may use up to 3/4 bolts. You MAY run two pieces of flat stock across the front and rear of the truck box BUT MUST NOT BE ANY LARGER THAN 24"X48" AND NO THICKER THAN 1/2".Tailgates may be welded solid flat stock steel maximum of 1/8" thick by 3" wide. Or you may use bolts, chain, or cable to secure the tailgate. Boxes may be welded to cab, flat stock steel maximum of 1/8" thick by 7" wide. NO tucking or wedged boxes and NO sedagons.
Doors & Cab: Drivers and passenger doors may be welded solid maximum of 1/8" thick by 3" wide. Or you may use chains, cables, or bolts with no more than 36" of chain and no more than 3 bolts per door. Drivers and passenger bars are mandatory, 6" minimum, 8" maximum wide channel type materials minimum of 5' in length, maximum 4" past front door seams. NO grader blade or guard rail type material. Door bars MUST be bolted with a maximum of 1" bolts with 6" X 6" backing plates no more than W' thickness. Bolts MUST extend to the inside. A cross brace in place of the dash may be installed connecting to the door bars and is recommended, minimum of 2" maximum of 6" diameter pipe. A mandatory pipe 2" minimum and 6" maximum pipe MUST be installed behind the seat and may connect to the door bars. Pipe used MUST have a safety chain secured around it, and secured through the floor to the frame for safety. A padded head rest may be used. Rear window area behind drivers seat MUST have either a cross brace or a mesh type material (Expanded Steel would be best). All trucks MUST have 2lb fire extinguisher mounted within drivers reach. ROLLOVER BARS ARE PERMITTED BUT MUST remain vertical ONLY.
Hoods: MUST be bolted with no less than 3/8" and no more than 1", or chained with chains not to exceed 3 feet in length with 1" links and no welding, but not both. NO more than 6 bolts may be used in the hood with plates not to exceed 6" by 6" square diameter and no more than 1/2" thick. NO more than 6 nuts per bolt or threaded rod. All hoods must have IS" square fire hole. You must have an air cleaner on carburetor.
Bumpers and Fenders:NO aftermarket step bumpers. Bumpers may be changed to automotive type bumpers. If you run without a rear bumper you may weld a steel brace between frame rails NOT to exceed NO larger than 4"X4" and NOT to extend out any further than rails. Trailer hitches MUST be removed. Car bumpers may be installed. Bumper and brackets may be welded but NO more than 8" from front of frame back. All cut edges MUST have rolled around edges. Chains may also be used. NO reinforcing and no excessive welding. Bumpers may be removed. NO added metal frame rail to frame rail.
Suspension: May not be blocked or altered. NO coils over shocks. All leaf springs on trucks MUST have standard number for the vehicle being used in competition. NO overloads allowed.
Strongly recommended top use #9 wire to wrap leaf springs 3 wraps maximum for front and rear of each set of springs or clamps may be used. Truck suspension must meet official's approval before competition. Tie rods may be reinforced with angle iron or rod iron.
Batteries: All batteries MUST be moved inside the truck to the passenger floor area. Batteries MUST be in some kind of box and must be bolted to the floor with a 4 point hold down system and MUST be covered for the safety of the driver. Cover MUST be securely fastened.
Gas Tank: The stock gas tank must be removed. A metal state approved boat gas tank or fuel cell (6 gallon maximum capacity) fuel tank MUST be securely fastened and mounted in the center of the bed near the cab. Metal straps or ratcheting straps must be used to securely fasten the tank to the bed. NO bungee cords are allowed to secure the tank. The metal gas tank MUST be covered by a metal cove for a fire barrier and MUST be securely fastened. Electric fuel pumps MUST have an emergency shut off and must be highly noticeable and marked. Pump fuel ONLY, used NO Alcohol.
Radiator: Due to EPA regulations, NO ANTI-FREEZE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE RADIATORS - WATER ONLY ALLOWED. (PLEASE FLUSH BEFORE YOU ARRIVE) NO truck will be allowed to participate with radiator or transmission coolers relocated. You may run Radi-barrels or other homemade radiator's as long as they are in stock position. Radiator protectors such as wire mesh or similar may be used. Radi-barrel must NOT be frame mounted and you may NOT run any kickers from Radi-barrel or radiator protectors.
Welding: NO welding except PUMPKIN GEARS, FRONT AND REAR BUMPER MOUNTS OR SHOCKS, MOTOR MOUNTS, TRANSMISSION MOUNTS, DOORS, AND TAILGATE NO WELDING ANY FRAME SEAMS OR HOLES IN FRAMES.
