I don't want the officials dictating who to hit, how to drive and determining the outcome. i can't stand watching someone/listening to someone trying to get someone dq'd cuz of a drivers door shot. let the cars be built and people will drive them accordingly....
if you think driving is a skill and thats how derbies should be determined....then expect a slow feature with cars built at the factory hard....not built hard in the garage...

Hello. Jon, I have a few "mint" pairs as well. I also have about ten Cadillac axle shafts cut, and re-splined on the shelf. Some have the taper roller bearings, some have bronze on them now. It seems to be hard to price axle shafts like this, but they are for sale. All for now. David Bryan

Hello. For Husker Havoc, I tried a few things. The "Mad Raptor" award was $1500.00 (paid $2500.00 to win the show). This helped the action. I feel that what helped the action (for the crowd) the most was keep the hitters out of the finals until a certain time. The finals started slow, but ended with flurry. Some drivers liked it, some drivers did not. The crowd loved it. The "pit stop" was a change the crowd (and most drivers) liked as well.
There are many things that can help out the action at a derby. However, if the officials allow drivers to drive slow, that is what will happen. David Bryan

Seen a derby back in 2000 in Morton's Gap, KY (I think it was anyways). Paid $5000 to win, $3500 second, $2000 for third and $500 to make the feature. 20 car heats, massive track (the entire infield and circle track of a 1/2 mile track. Anyways, 30 minutes into a heat/feature, if the heat/feature wasn't over they started giving the top place money to the guys who had junked their cars already. It was put out at the driver's meeting. Heat 1 nobody believed them, 45 minutes in and all but three cars were still running. They stopped thevshow, gave the money and feature spots to the guys who were out and sent the other 17 to the 1st consi. Lol No other heat lasted more than 15 minutes after that. Minus 1 Utah show I got to see in person, hardest hitting show I ever witnessed after that 1st heat. Clean GM wagons were junking each other in ten minutes, wideopen. It was beautiful.
very good derby.alot of well built vehicles and good drivers showed up again this year.
Thanks Hemi, It was great talking to you & your wife. There are some bugs to work out but hay, there is no such thing as a perfect show, in my 43years I have never seen one yet LOL. I hope you have a great show this year & hope to see a lot of drivers support it. I think your show is the last one of the year in Wi.? Later
