GENERAL (CARS & TRUCKS)
UNLESS STATED DIFFERENTLY IN THE SPECIFIC CLASSES RULES!

1) All contestants are required to register with their car or truck at the fairgrounds. Registration will be from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. If registering after 11:00 a.m. an extra $10.00 late fee will be added to your registration. REGISTER EARLY!!!
2) Registration fees for all classes are: A $40 registration fee for vehicle and driver if PRE-REGISTERED by JULY 10TH. (Open class will be $80.00) (See registration form attached for details) A $50.00 registration fee for vehicle and driver if paid at day of show. (Open class will be $100.00) Pit people will be required to pay $15 for a pit pass PER show. Anyone in the pit area must have a pit pass or will be asked to leave.
3) All drivers and pit people under the age of 18 must have a NOTARIZED consent form with a parent or guardian PRIOR to registration. All drivers must be 16 years of age or older. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 16 WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PIT OR TRACK AREA AT ANY TIME. THIS WILL BE STRICLY ENFORCED!!! Personal vehicles will be allowed in the pits ONLY at judge’s discretion.
4) Alcoholic beverages will not be allowed in the pit area. Anyone believed to be unsafe in the pit area will be removed.
5) Once you registered, your vehicle will be inspected by the judges. If the judges determine that your car is illegal but can be modified to comply with the rules, you will be given the option to either make the changes necessary or withdraw. If you withdraw, you may remain in the pits, but you will not receive a refund of your entry fee. INSPECTION OF VEHICLES WILL END 2 HOURS BEFORE SHOWTIME!!
6) Each vehicle may be entered only once per class!!! Each driver may enter each class only once per show!
7) All vehicles will be inspected before the derby and before each heat or anytime deemed necessary by the judges in designated areas.
8) All vehicles must have working BRAKES!
9) All vehicles must be equipped with satisfactory seat belts. Drivers must wear a satisfactory helmet. Seat belts and helmets will be worn at all times when on the track. Failure to do so will mean immediate disqualification. Shoulder harnesses are recommended. All drivers MUST wear some type of EYE protection, e.g. safety glasses, helmet shields, etc. at all times on the track. NO SMOKING at any time while on the track.
10) Every race track has many uses. Therefore, ALL WINDOWS, TAILLIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, CHROME, AND MIRRORS MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE COMING TO THE FAIRGROUNDS. Glass falling from the vehicle on the track will result in immediate disqualification. We recommend screen windshields. But REQUIRE a strap or chain between the driver’s side and the center of the windshield opening to protect the driver from a possible loose hood during the competition. Metal strap may not exceed 1” wide x ¼” thick and may be welded, chain not to exceed 1” links.
11) Both front doors will be reserved exclusively FOR THE VEHICLE NUMBERS, Numbers must also appear on both sides of a 2’x2’ panel sticking up from the roof of the vehicle. ONLY THE VEHICLE NUMBER MAY APPEAR ON THIS PANEL. NO PROFANITY, OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE OR FLAGS may be used on the VEHICLES. DRIVERS – DON’T FORGET YOUR SPONSORS.
12) Any type of collision is legal except your disregard of another driver’s safety. NO DRIVER’S DOOR HITS. Holding and Sandbagging will not be allowed. Continuously throwing drivers door for defense will not be allowed. A count will be started (one minute counts).
13) The last in the heats or the finals will be the winner. The last car must be moving with the motor running, but not moving on the battery.
14) Sincere and orderly disputed decisions from the driver only will be considered. If any contestant or pit person causes a disturbance over a judge’s decision, the driver and the car will be disqualified and the problem maker will be ejected. Remember drivers, your pit people are your responsibility.
15) To help eliminate the number of bumpers that have fallen off onto the track, we recommend a chain, not larger than 1” link, attached to the top of the frame, wrapped tightly around the bumper once, and then attached on the bottom of the frame. The chain may have 3 welded links. One on top of the frame, one on the bumper, and one on the bottom of the frame. This should be done where the bumper is attached to the frame. Or you may weld the bumper to the frame. Bumper horns may be removed and can weld bumper directly to the frame.
16) State approved boat gas tanks with all connections properly sealed must be used. Fuel cells are acceptable. IF THE JUDGES FEEL THE TANK IS NOT SAFE, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. All original tanks must be removed. Electric fuel pumps must have emergency shut-off and must be clearly marked. Gas cans are not allowed. Any gas leak is grounds for immediate disqualification for the safety of everyone. Max 7 gallons.
17) Only gasoline or diesel fuel will be used for fuel. Gasoline must be in red well-marked cans and diesel must be in green/yellow well marked cans. We also strongly recommend that each pit crew carry its own fire extinguisher for use in the pits only.
18) Due to EPA regulations, NO ANTI-FREEZE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE RADIATORS. WATER ONLY ALLOWED. Make sure you flush your system. Have radiator caps removed before going to inspection. All vehicles must have air conditioning hoses disconnected before arriving at the fairgrounds.
19) All dashboards and air bags must be removed. All batteries must be moved inside the vehicle and securely fastened with 4 points (2 straps) and covered for the protection of the driver. Unsafe hold downs will not be accepted! THIS RULE WILL BE STRICKLY ENFORCED!
20) All doors must be chained, strapped, bolted, or welded with no more than 3’ of chain and no more than 2 bolts per door, bolts not to exceed 1” in diameter. One washer or plate per door, not to exceed 2”x18”x1/4”. #9 wire may be used instead of chain. No bolts or plates between the front fender and front door on the passenger side. Inner door post covers must be removed. If welded 3 - 4” x 4” x ¼” plates are allowed per door.
21) No frames may be painted or undercoated.
22) No vehicle will be allowed to participate with the radiator relocated.
23) Trailer Hitches must be completely removed.
24) No duct tape anywhere.
25) Valve Stem protectors are allowed.
26) Tie Rods may be reinforced. (EXCEPT for 1980 limited class)
27) Any engine and any transmission.
28) Transmission pan protectors are allowed up to 3/8” thick and may only be mounted on pan. (EXCEPT for 1980 limited class)
29) Auxiliary transmission coolers may be used. Installed with safety in mind no cobbling. (EXCEPT for 1980 limited class)
30) Transmission cross members that are built to fit may be bolted or welded to frame but no reinforcement.
31) Motors & Transmissions may be chained or welded. (motor mounts may be welded to frame only, do not weld to engine)
32) Up to 5 - 3/8” bolts and 3/8” standard washers in wheel openings no more then 5” from wheel opening. (fenders may be rolled and bolted but absolutely no metal added.) (EXCEPT for 1980 limited class)
33) Floor pans on drivers side may be reinforced if rusty no thicker than 1/8” plate.
34) Cross members on bottom side of hood may be welded using 3” on and 3” off or bolted within similar pattern.
35) Pinion gears may be welded.
36) Body Pucks can be removed.
37) Coil Springs may be nylon tied or wired – no clamps or welding allowed.
38) Distributor protectors/cages are allowed but must have 4” space between dash bar and protector. (EXCEPT for 1980 limited class)
39) Slider/slipper drive shafts allowed!! Axle tubes may be welded to differential and axle trusses may be used. (EXCEPT for 1980 limited class)
40) Shocks may be removed.
41) No welding then otherwise stated in rules.
42) Frame scoping or inspecting will be done at random.
43) No Kickers allowed.
44) Dash & Seat bars are REQUIRED. Driver and passenger bars only are allowed and must only be inside of the vehicle. Bars may not exceed 6” in diameter. Door bars can only be mounted by welding to dash and seat bar. No Kicker or gussets allowed.
45) Bumper seams can be welded no extra metal added, but must be able to inspect/scope.
46) Rollover bars are permitted BUT MUST remain vertical ONLY May NOT support to any other part of vehicle. You may bolt or weld the roll over bar to your sear bar ONLY your roll over bar may NOT attach to your frame or body, and may NOT run any type of kickers off your roll over bar, seat bar , door bars, or dash bar. This rule is for compact cars, full size cars, and compact and full size SUV’s.
47) Full size trucks are MANDATORY (Rollover Bars). Full size trucks may relocate roll over bar to inside of the box directly behind the cab and may be welded to the frame. Max. of 4” tube may be used.








COMPACT TRUCKS and MINIVANS

1) Any of the following 2wd pick-ups or equivalent will be allowed. Chevrolet S-10 or smaller, Ford Ranger or smaller, Dodge Dakota 50 or smaller, Minivans (nothing larger then a 6 cylinder – NO full size vans!) No trucks 1/2 ton or larger, or 4x4’s. Any 4wd pick-up must have one drive shaft removed. Convertibles are not allowed. No homemade boxes or homemade bumpers will be allowed.
2) Hoods must be bolted with bolts no less than 3/8” but not more than 1” or chained with chains not to exceed 6’ in length with 1” links but not both. No more than 6 bolts may be used in the hood, (hood hinges count as 2 bolts) with washers not to exceed 6”x6”x1/4” in size. Front two hood bolts may go through front body mount.
3) All hoods must have a 14” square fire hole.
4) Tailgates may be chained or bolted with chains not to exceed 3’ in length with 1” links or no more than 4 bolts of 1” in diameter, not longer than 12” in length, or can be welded. (able to relocate tailgate down 4” max.)
5) Body mounts may be altered with bolts of similar size (up to ¾” diameter) and washers no larger than 3” in diameter. If body mounts have been damaged, bolts may be replaced only with bolts of similar size (up to ¾” diameter) and washers no larger than 3” in diameter. Bolts may not go all the way through the frame.
6) Box can be slid ahead and attached to the cab with no more than 3” x 10” x 1/8” thick plate (one per side)
7) Fenders may be trimmed or removed but not reinforced. Trucks that have previously been used in a demolition derby and need sheet metal repair may use 3/8 “ bolts to make such repairs. Use only as many bolts needed to secure the sheet metal in place. Frame rails may not stick out past the bed of the box before the race begins.
8) Suspension may not be blocked. No coil over shocks. A-arms may be welded or bolted.
9) No welded rims or rims that have been modified for reinforcement except split rims which MUST be welded in 4 spots with a minimum weld of 1” and a maximum weld of 2”. No studded tires will be allowed. No rims larger than 15”.
10) Gas tank must be placed in the pick-up box between the cab and front of wheel well. The tank must be placed on a metal plate that is at least 1/8” thick on top of the original box and bolted to the frame which is the width of the frame rails and no deeper than 3’ back from the cab and must be strapped down with metal strapping.
11) Rear leaf spring hangers may be welded to frame.
12) Front driver and passenger doors may be welded for safety, only weld doors directly to the left or right of driver!
13) Any bumper on any vehicle as long as stock - Front on Front – Back on Back (NOT homemade)




FOR FULLSIZED TRUCKS

1) Any of the following 2wd pick-ups or equivalent will be allowed. Chevrolet C-10, 1500 or larger, Ford F100 or larger, Jeep pick-up, Surburbans, Full size Blazers, Full size Broncos, Ram Chargers, and Power Wagons. No buses, trucks over 1 ton, or 4x4’s. Any 4wd pick-up must have one drive shaft removed. Convertibles are not allowed. No homemade boxes or homemade bumpers will be allowed.
2) Hoods must be bolted with bolts no less than 3/8” but not more than 1” or chained with chains not to exceed 6’ in length with 1” links but not both. No more than 6 bolts may be used in the hood, (hood hinges count as 2 bolts) with washers not to exceed 6”x6”x1/4” in size. Front two hood bolts may go through front body mount.
3) All hoods must have a 14” square fire hole.

7) Suburbans only may have vertical bars between seat bar and frame to help hold in location vertical bars may be welded or bolted to frame and may not exceed 3” x 3” x 3/16” thick.
8) Fenders may be trimmed or removed but not reinforced. Trucks that have previously been used in a demolition derby and need sheet metal repair may use 3/8 “ bolts to make such repairs. Use only as many bolts needed to secure the sheet metal in place. Frame rails may not stick out past the bed of the box before the race begins.
9) Suspension may not be blocked. No coil over shocks. A-arms may be bolted or welded.
10) Rusty frames may be repaired with a 4” x 2’ x 3/8” plate of steel with max. 8 – 3/8” bolts and standard 3/8” washers per plate.
11) No welded rims or rims that have been modified for reinforcement except split rims which MUST be welded in 4 spots with a minimum weld of 1” and a maximum weld of 2”. No studded tires will be allowed.
12) 2’ x 4’ (max. of ¼” thick) plate will be allowed on rear box floor (behind rear fenders) using the existing bolt holes.
13) May have additional 2 bolts in box to help secure but not all the way through the frame.
14) Bumpers must be front on front and back on back. Back bumper may be removed but must be replaced with tubing min. 4” max. 6” wide x 3/16” thick max. no larger then the interior size of the frame. (may not stick out past the frame rails.) (at least 3/8” hole must be drilled to view the thickness) Max front and back bumper height will be 30” to bottom of bumper. Front bumper can either be factory or you may use a 6” tall x 2” deep x 3/8” thick x 66” long wide hollow tubing (must be able to see through and must be straight no point in middle)
15) Frame may be boxed in ahead of the front axle only.
16) Gas tank must be placed in the pick-up box between the cab and front of wheel well. The tank must be placed on a metal plate that is at least 1/8” thick on top of the original box and bolted to the frame which is the width of the frame rails and no deeper than 3’ back from the cab and must be strapped down with metal strapping.
17) Rear leaf spring hangers may be welded to frame.
18) Front driver and passenger doors may be welded for safety, only weld doors directly to the left or right of driver!
19) May chain axles to frame. 2 - 3’chains per axle.
20) Radi barrels are accepted in stock location only.

great derby one of the best In WI, very fair!!! NO BS

Thanks to all that came yesterday!!! Car counts were down but happy to say we paid out $6,200.00 for only 23 vehicles!!! Hopefully we can bring the count up next year!
