If your going to post something, include something tangible in your post! Rather than mindless banter....

What now crusher karma bit you in the butt let's go mayham First off are you talking about Mayhem that this same promoter started and ran for many years. Don't forget where it got it's start. I am in no way a Charlie fan and I will say I have zero respect for a promoter regardless of who they are when they take away prizes from kids. I was not involved in this derby in any aspect so I will reserve my judgement to myself. I would like to hear both sides of the story even though I think I have a pretty good idea what happened here. I am going to throw out what I think happened but again will not throw out my judgement other than to say what I did about promoters stealing from kids. When the event was first announced it was announced at another venue. The other venue was already developed and ready to go. At some point that venue fell through and he jumped back to the venue he owns/leases. He most likely had the guaranteed purse paid for by sponsors. When the venue fell through and he went back to his there was not the development of facilities in place and I am sure he does not have the money to build it out. At this point he already has the sponsor money and starts to build out the facilities. He is also thinking passes and gate fees are going to cover the prize money. When the derby community doesn't support the show there is no money to pay out. Right or wrong I believe this is what happened. Let those who were actually involved work it out how they see fit but for those who did not promote, attend, or drive I really think it is none of our business except to know about this and his other previous issues. One of my favorite quotes is those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. I like to think people can change but in this case it appears things were the same as his last year at Mayhem.

^^^^^LMFAO, well played sir, well played.
I guess I can speak to it then becuase I was a driver in his supposedly high dollar payout wire class. He promised to pay the purse repeatedly, on this website, wecrash, his own website, in person, via text, via phone. All told probably 1,000's of times he promised to pay the advertised purse. Then the show comes around, car count is light, spectator attendance is light, and he is asked not once, not twice, but at least three times in the drivers meeting whether or not the purse will be paid. Once again, he guarantees that it will be paid. Fast forward to 4:00 on Saturday...at least 6 state cops come rolling in for the drivers meeting, there to make sure Charlie doesn't get his butt kicked or worse. Then Charlie doesn't have the balls to even talk to us, he hides in the announcer's booth while his brother makes the announcement that they can't afford to pay the purse.
Of course, everyone is absolutely irate. Most of us either destroyed or half destroyed very high dollar clean old iron cars in our heat races already. Then what we all were afraid of happens, instead of 15k, 7k, 3k, or whatever the heck it was supposed to be they tell us they will pay 6,000 total however we want to break it down. Of course, everyone really gets pissed then. Then a guy who I assume to be Charlie's other brother (don't know that for fact) comes out all pissed off yelling at us saying we should have brought more cars. Yes, that's right, he yelled at the people who did bring cars and supported the show about not having enough cars. Everybody loaded, everybody got their lousy $20 back that they paid for a pit pass, and that was pretty much it.
Those are the facts, make your own judgement from there.

I heard a story on the news yesterday. A man who had left high school for the military in 1953 gets his diploma and speaks at the high school graduation ceremony. His message? Stay in school....see the irony? It's high school graduation....these kids are done with school. Maybe he should have been addressing 8th graders.
Someone coming out and blaming those who showed for not bringing more cars LOL. Ha.
People have blamed the Internet and what gets posted as the downfall of derbies. Quite the opposite. It's what you DONT SEE on the Internet that is the downfall to derbies. Your factual firsthand account is just that (stuff that never gets seen.) Instead, somewhere along the way we have gotten the 'mind your own business, stay out of it, dont leave a comment'....(mind you, these are message boards, you leave things like, messages on them.) Somewhere, someone has read your factual account of events and they are seriously thinking you have no right to post it. Someone seriously thinks it's drivers faults not Chucks. Thank you for posting firsthand info and not sugarcoating it.
Oh....and the stuff you DONT SEE.....go ask a certain promoter about "Advanced Builders" LOL you guys think everyone is playing by the same rules.....LOL
