If you dont let ppl protect their investment they won't want to run your shows. That's the issue our local track is having. I have a hard time not putting a brace on a rearend that's worth about $1500 to run a 1000 show and risking a set of $600 Mosier axles laying on the track. Drivers want their cars to last and their equipment to last even longer... Imo there is two sides of this right? the guy with with 5K in his gear wont want to run "risk" it for 1K. But the 10 local hillbillys and first time kids dont want to run the shows that allow it. People are becoming more concerned with the "little" guys and new guys as numbers continue to decrease. The problem with that is it is nearly like trying to turn back time, which to my knowledge has never been done. Coming from a guy with a cradle, slider, and hybrid rear end. I am going to be running 3 shows this year hopefully all is "stock" style cars. I want to take a stab at doing it old school again.

Maybe every Adam Sandler movie needs 8 lug rears, kickers, and whatever else it is you seem to put in almost every post you make. That would make you happy, right? why do you gotta be so mean i didnt say anything to you Because I knew you could take it, and it contained some of your favorite items.

I run Chrysler engines and think a cradle is 100% necessary to prevent breaking ears off the block. I personally run Robbo's mopar cradle and have not broken a block since I've started using it. It's not a full protector of any sort, it really is just a simple way to take stress off of just the stock block ears and distribute it throughout the block, plus it is a great way to mount a regular center sump oil pan mopar engine in almost any car with little to no headache.

A good discussion here, thanks guys! These engine cradles are turning into a nightmare during the inspection process. I believe the purpose "or intent of" the engine cradle is to secure the engine only. Not change how the cars bend.
I would love for the promoters of this sport to get together and define these terms so we could reference them when being asked questions about them.
example,
"Distributor Protector" A shield to protect the distributor from damage, not to be used as reinforcement.
"Pro Distributor Protector" A shield to protect the distributor from damage, also used as reinforcement to the body of the car.

I personally just started running last year after being very interested for a very long time though I'm only 18 I came up with the money to buy a used car and I was hooked I see no reason for anyone to not afford the necessary items to compete I have no job and my parents have only enough to pay bills and keep food on the table I was taught at a young age if I wanted something I had to work for it because my parents couldn't afford it I have bought and sold cars since I was 16 profiting over 15k although this has nothing to do with the subject I'm only saying I have no pitty for those that "can't afford to compete" if u want it u gotta work for it nothing in life is free I'm building my rear this year as well as buying necessary protectors a slider shaft and many more upgraded parts now with this being said I still can't build a car and I have no shame in admitting it but Im not in it for the money I'm there for the crowed....I just wanna last a little longer than a few minutes lol

MANY " PROTECTORS" DO FAR MORE THAN JUST PROTECT. THE ARGUMENT OF "NO ONE WANTS TO SPEND A CRAZY AMOUNT OF MONEY ON THEIR DRIVETRAIN/REAR END COMBO ONLY TO NOT BE ALLOWED "PROTECTORS" FOR THEIR INVESTMENT, IS EASY" RUN A STOCK CLASS FOR A GRAND, HAVE FUN AND THATS ALL. YOU WILL NEVER BECOME WEALTHY SMASHING CARS FOR FUN, OR FOR MONEY... THATS A GIVEN. WHEN THE CASH OUTLAY FAR EXCEEDS THE PRIZE MONEY, THERE IS NO OTHER ANSWER......LETS GET BACK TO FUN.....

As far as tranny protectors go. Mine was built for safety more than anything. This is what happened to me last year...... My wife was scared to death when it exploded. So bad she told me I had to build something to make sure it didnt happen again. So this is what DJ Sweet built for me.... As you can see, it works with a Flips Shifter and an block mounted gas pedal..... 7 Bolts and it comes off.
