Does it take less driving skill to do well at derbies that allow you to run protectors to protect your large investment of protectors?

IMO it is not about driving skill now but about who has the most protectors and gas

motors make a bad driver better not protectors
whether its chain n go or 8000lb cars the game is still the same you dont have to junk someone to win.

regardless of what you have or have not done to your car.. your NOT going to win flat footed all day something will break. But if you put a smart driver is a lesser car he will beat the overbuilt rookie 9/10 times

You still need skill. While luck & preparation count, you still need skill.

These days in derbyin, It's all about whose got the deepest pockets. I say make these Big Money shows gut n go rules, then we'll see who's the "derby icons". JMO!!!! Why would big money shows change? They pay big money, drivers show up, fans show up, and the show makes money. Why would you change that. I'm not saying I don't agree, but good luck getting big money shows to change. In my opinion leave the big shows alone. Change the smaller shows. The smaller shows are whats hurting. But they are each hurting for their own reasons. Some regions have problems with the number of drivers. Some regions have problems with the rules or the lack there of that is. Some regions have problems with payouts. The list goes on and on. No one thing is going to change the game across the nation. Some shows will just have to die. It kills me to say that but that is where we are right now. I hope something changes and there is a huge come back in the derby world but that will not happen with the path we are on. New School Builds I don't feel have anything to do with it. If that was the problem we could go to stock builds across the land and that would fix everything. But some places have already tried that and it didn't work for them. Yet other places have tried it and it worked great for them. Some places are trying it this year and I hope it works for them. Have a $10,000 purse stock show and see how it goes. Money usually brings in the drivers. If places start paying money to stock builds guys will build them. This by no means makes it a big money show. just a well paying show. The baggers will still get 2 or more runs out of a car and the hard drivers will still junk a car in one show, but everyone spends a lot less money. I think I am just starting to ramble so... You dont have to drive a car at all anymore
When you have a front that wont bend, axles, tierods, driveshafts etc that wont break it takes all the "driving" out of it

But what you seem to forget in about every post you make is there is an entire derby world outside of the area you run. Places that have rules and stick to them. Rules that don't allow certain things. Rules that let a guy build and build but the darn things still bend. If you don't like the way things are going then you as a driver have the power to lead other drivers. Lead them in a way that gets back to what you want. Or maybe I am reading what you have typed wrong and want cars that don't bend and parts that last forever. Later Brandon

IMO you can have the most built car out there, but if you don't know how to drive then your not going to win. Me, myself can't stand to just drive around and bairly hit anyone. So I put my stuff and cars to the test, by making big hits.
And you can't say that if they have fairly stock rules with a 10K payout cars will show. Cause if everyone remembers SBMS had a 10K event last year and the rules was pretty stock and 40ish cars showed.
