Some of you may have seen the film guy at Razorback Rumble, he was gathering some pilot footage there and now has plans to attend Metal Mayhem and shooting a TV show. They are looking for 4 drivers to follow for the week before MM and the show itself. I need to gather bios for these characters, so please send me a short story of your derby career, car information for you MM ride and some interesting things about you(family/other interests/job etc...) You must be in the MM class only, so they can complete the story line of each driver. Get confusing if they aren't in the same class. I have already made my recommendations, but need a few more. Keep in mind, you must be a character in front of the camera, and give them some drama when needed, say crazy stuff, build some excitement, and so on. Read more: we-crash.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=15551#ixzz1tYYa3Dqcim confused....it wasnt but like a month ago (of course the thread got deleted my 'delusional' memory remembers though) that this a-hole wrote something like 'keep posts civil, tv people read this we dont need to look like hicks blah blah' talk about selling a group of people (derby car drivers) up the river someone really sold out... 'hey everyone, i need 3 people to act like a jerkoff for a week...' while people take this event seriously....behind the competitors back....T.S. IS SELLING TO TV LIKE IT'S A CARTOON!!!! seriously, i feel bad for the people that take this derby seriously and it's gonna be portrayed as a 'who can kick their own a$$' contest. how much money does TS get off this i know the answer at least the public answer....it's 0. ok. whatever. the TRUTH is, the dude just sold out his event, the so-called 'biggest' event in the country....as a 2 bit clown show. you want people to take it seriously but the general public is going to be exposed to a character in front of the camera, and give them some drama when needed, say crazy stuff, build some excitement, and so on. if you're gonna do that then throw all the 'rules' out and you'll have all kinds of drama am i wrong? just saying discuss amongst yourselfs. i'll return at 7am

Im going to say something I have wanted to say for years.... Tory Schutte ruined Demo Derby.... I would elaborate but I dont need to... Evidence is and will be more and more obvious as time goes on...
It ought to have been obvious when Recruiter was on his resume that he would turn out to be a lying self serving person in the end,,,.......... All I have to say about the matter...Delete if you want,.,,Im just glad to finally be able to type those words....

step right up....you could be the next "DERBY ICON".....i have never been a fan of the big over 1 day event "demo derbies"...what happened to going to a derby and going home on the same day? and yes, i agree that there was NO DRAMA wanted but now we need drama for the big TV PRODUCERS.....because that is what tv feeds off of------DRAMA......lizard lick towing, gold rush, ax men, dog the bounty hunter, real housewives, jersey shore, storage wars, wife swap, ETC. ETC....you get the picture here......the producers make these people into characters that can feed some drama in to make it interesting even if it means making something up or staging it....gold rush isn't too bad but you can see from the 1st season to the next that they had to add in some drama to make people come back for more the next week...

This whole sport is becoming a joke unless it gets back to old days which won't happen since people would have $$$$ just sitting on a shelf

As soon as you mention TV, everyone has what they think will make a great show. A great show doesn't come from picking people and throwing together something 30 days before. And really, some of the suggestions are flat scary.
I can predict what will happen already. Six months from now, someone who remembers that I have some connection to derbies will see me and say, "hey, I saw that show on derbies, it was funny that those rednecks do that stuff. Is that really how it is?" And I'll respond as usual, "nope, not even close to what it is really all about."

heck ya dont even need some goofy tv show for people to come up and go 'thats some funny redneck stuff you do.' a person (promoter) cant have it both ways...have what is called a serious competition and have a circus sideshow going on that is put out there for the public to see. that's already been done it's called sports entertainment (wwe tna). it's kinda a dirty situation
on a sidenote...of all the discovery, tlc documentary etc programs on derbies...the 'promoters' in those programs....do any of them exist anymore?

I wouldn't worry too much about the TV program. It has been tried several times before and failed miserably. He doesn't even know which network is doing it! More hype to save his butt. They must be coming to see DerbyParts.com

One has to really enjoy and love this sport to stick with it for a substantial amount of time because quite frankly, the general perception of us from outside of the sport is rather humbling. It used to bother me, but anymore I just dont give a darn what people say or think. When someone tries to have a conversation with me about it or ask about I just dont bother anymore. They dont get it. They never will.

I agree the people I work with at my day job and most of my friends who are not into derbies can't believe derbies exist outside our 1 time a year county fair. Also, when I tell them that some of those dumb red necks could have anywhere from $4000-$10,000 in their cars they look at me like I am full of crap. Oh yea and the people who really should be on this T.V show will not be a part of it. It will a couple of guys with no derby background trying to sell themselves infront of the camera. Hmmm where could you find a couple guys like that

I'm sure he is wanting to do this so Yes he can say I'm doing this for you guys to further the sport. NAME ONE DERBY SHOW ANY TRUE DRIVER LIKED THAT THEY HAVE MADE SO FAR. NONE. They have ALL been a JOKE with too many commercials, and made us all out to be retards or the show to be retarded, NAMELY TNN. heck look at the one they did with THE GREAT TORY SCHUTTE IN IT WHEN HE COULDN'T EVEN BREAK A WINDOW. I'm sorry, but STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE A LAUGHING STOCK OF THE DERBY WORLD. Tom P.S. I'm going to post this same thing over on the other Pro-board site lets see how long it takes to get deleted???
