on a gm tranny i assume? today's derby drivetrains eat up alum bellhousings all the 'armor' sorta does (if done right anyway) acts as a brace, or a housing on top of the cast. if you can tig or good at aluminum welding may be the only way short of a new case at fixing it

Did you install longer transmission dowell pins?

No I did not Just bolted everything together and shimmed It all up Also mounted tranny solid to cross member Was told that could have been cause to as well as a 3500 stall converter

fancy neoprene mounts...$50 as close to solid as you can get without being solid

You have to have longer dowell pins. It breaks stuff in daily drivers. If your engine armour didnt come with them you can make them out of the shank of a 5/8 bolt.

the dowel pins line the transmission up... yeah if you're running a brace that bolts like say a BOP adapter plate (between engine and tranny) yeah, need some longer ones more than likely. the bolts do and they dont really line the tranny up if that makes sense. but really....outside of say beefing up the case it'll prolly' happen again.

If the motors solid and the trans isn't it can break the bell housing easy.

The motor is not solid, but the tranny was I'm starting to think it was a combination of the pins being to short And the tranny being bolted solid to cross member and the 3500 stall convert Does that all sound about right

If you have actual "ENGINE ARMOR" we send longer dowell pins with every setup we sell.... Now as far as breaking bell housings it could be from an unbalanced shaft, a solid mounted tranny, loose convertor bolts, cracked flywheel, really shi$$y luck etc
