General Fairground Rules
You must be 15 years of age to run or be in the pits and anyone under the age of 18 will need a minor release form signed by a parent/ guardian and notarized signature. All drivers must have a photo ID to be paid (No exceptions). Any harassment of any fair board member, Crashmaster staff, other competitors or crews will not be tolerated or you may be escorted out buy police. No inappropriate language or behavior will not be tolerated in pits or on the track. any inappropriate language, symbols on your vehicle or clothing and you will be asked to remove it or leave, this is a family show. Absolutely no alcohol in the pits. The Fair board and Crashmasters Promotions are not responsible for cars left after the derby, any cars or trucks left on fairgrounds after 8am the following day will become property of Crashmasters promotions. Crashmasters promotions will do the inspection, if you think someone is cheating let us know.
Pre- Inspection Rules
No all black cars. No re-stubbing frames. No painting, undercoating, buffing or oiling of frames, these cars will not be inspected or allowed to compete. All bodies must be on stock OEM frames for that year and make of car. All vehicles must have a roof sign 15"x 15" min. 24"x 24" max. in center of roof with number on it, no cardboard signs. Drivers door must be painted white. Hoods must be open for inspection, bring hold downs you will be lined up after inspection, bring helmet and eye protection with you.
Competition Rules
When you are flagged out, you must stay in your car with helmet, eye protection and seat belts on until the heat is over or when an official tells you to get out. Drivers door hits are illegal. If the hit is deemed by official to be careless or intentional, you will be disqualified. If you are using your door as a defense, we will not enforce the rule. Any open will be cause for disqualification. you are allowed one fire, the second you will be disqualified. You must make an aggressive hit every 30 seconds. 1 minute start time. No pin to win. Sandbagging will not be tolerated and will be strictly enforced. Locking up brakes prior to a hit for any other reason than a drivers door hit will be cause for disqualification, the fans pay to see a show so put one on for then.
General derby rules all classes
No Imperials, Suicide Lincolns, Hearses, Ambulances, Ranchero's, El Camino's, Sedagan's, fiberglass top trucks or 4 door trucks.
Preparation:All outer hardware must be removed including door handles, mirrors, headlights, marker lights, turn signal lenses, chrome, molding screws, fiberglass. All burnable material must be removed. Bumper covers may be taken off. All glass must be removed and swept out of car. Wagons all inside panels and rear seats must be removed.
Hoods: Must cut a 10"x 10" min. fire hole in hood.
Batteries: Must be in a metal box or tray, an bolted in 4 places, bolts no smaller than 3/8" and must be covered. 2 batteries Open class and Trucks, 1 battery 80's stock, Mini class and Midsize.
Gas tanks: Stock gas tank must be removed from car and replaced with a steel tank, bolted in 4 places through the floor pan in center of back seat, bolts no smaller than 3/8" and must be covered, 6 gallon max.
Fuel Pumps: No electric fuel pumps, unless they came from factory with one. If you have one, you must run a separate on and off switch, and it must be clearly marked which position is off, and mounted close to the driver. Pump gas only. No Alcohol.
Brakes: All vehicles running in the derby must have brakes, this will be checked in inspection.
Air Bags: All air bags must be deactivated. (preferably removed)
No chain binders on any vehicle. No wheel weights. No trailer hitches.
80's & Old Semi Mod & Truck Rules
Cages: You may use channel or tubing up to 6" for the door bars. Total length not to exceed 60". This bar may not be more than 18" past center post on 4 door cars and 10" behind on 2 door cars. No exceptions. Dash and seat bar may not exceed 5" diameter. Seat bar must be no further than 6" behind seat. Bars must be straight, no contoured pieces. Only sedans are allowed a gas tank protector, 24"x 6", centered in the back seat area. There must be a 1" space between back bar and sheet metal. May not be attached to anything other than the seat bar. All interior metal must remain stock. Do not pound. You may add a diagonal bar behind the drivers seat and directly below seat bar to the passenger floor sheet metal. You may add 2 vertical down bars to driver side door bar and 1 to passenger door bar, welded to bottom of door bars to floor sheet metal. These may not attach to or conceal a body mount. No kickers, angled or other bars off the main cage pieces. No cage components to frame. All horizontal cage components must be 8" off the floor of the car, including gas tank protector, measured at body bolt elevation. All bars must be inside car or cab.
Halo & rollover Bars: You may add a halo bar to the cage components listed above. It may not exceed 5" diameter . On a 4 door post car, this bar must be attached to the seat bar. No exceptions. On a 2 door or 4 door non post car, this bar may attach to floor sheet metal. Halo bar must be in a vertical line with seat bar, may not be angled toward back of car. You may bolt halo bar to roof sheet metal in 2 places.
Frames: The only welding allowed is from upper a-arms forward, 1/2" bead max weld. top side only. No other frame welding allowed, no plating, heat treating, metal welded to frame or foam filling of frame. Trucks from behind core support to rear bumper no welding or plating frame. Open cars rear frame rails may be shortened. You may notch rear frame rails but do not re- weld cut. Y-frames may add a plate top and bottom 3"x 6"x 1/4" but must have a 3/4" inspection in top plate. 80's cars may tilt front ends by 2 ways 1. Cold pinch, no adding metal. 2. You may only cut the outside flap and pull down front end moving the flap a 1/2" and only re-weld the flap. Do not re-weld any other crush box seams. 80's cars may change aluminum engine cradles with a stock older Ford car cradle. It must be in stock location with only 12" weld max. All other components must be bolted in with stock size bolts. No added metal, braces or gussets
If frame is bent badly you may add a 3"x 3"x 3/16" plate on one side only. Rust call.
Body Bolts & Mounts: All body bolts may be replaced with up to 1" bolts, 8" max. length. Core support bolts may be 1" diameter, these bolts may go through hood and count as 2 of your 6 hold downs, you may use pipe up to 1 1/2" OD between frame and core support. Space must be maintained between body and frame, 3/4" min. Do not weld body washers to floor pan, washers or plate size 5" x 3/16" No welding body to frame. Trucks may modify cab mounts with 1" bolts and 5"x 1/4" plates. Cab and Box may be bolted in 4 places with 1" bolts and 5"x1/4" plates, may not weld together.
Bodies: No seam welding. Open cars body creasing, enhancing lines and addition of body lines is allowed. Do not fold the metal over to create a double effect. Trunk lid seams must be clearly visible and accessible. Quarters panels must remain vertical Trucks not allowed body creasing. No doubling body panels. Core support welding not allowed. No foam filled panels. Doors may be welded solid on outside only except drivers door may be welded on inside, may use 3"x 3/16" flat strap or 3/8" re-bar to fill gap. If not welded must be chained or wired, 2 per seam. Doors may be folded and welded at top.
Trunk lids may be tucked 50% and must have hinges. May have 4 hold downs, 1" threaded rod, may be welded to rear frame rails and go through trunk lid, trunk plates no bigger than 5"x 1/4", all hold downs must be straight up and down, no plates directly under trunk lid. you may also weld 5" on 5" off with 2" x 1/8" flat strap max. Your trunk lid may be V'ed in center but must at least 12" off Trunk body mount location, speaker deck can be 10". No fully wedged cars, rear quarters and light valance must remain vertical. Hoods may have 6 hold downs, 1" threaded rod, front 2 may go through core support and frame mounts, other 4 may be welded to sides of frame, go through frame or welded to top of frame no adding plate first, hood plates no bigger than 5"x 1/4", no plates directly under hood. All threaded rod must be straight up and down and in engine compartment, can be next to fire wall but not welded to it, or you may use 6" angles and 1- 3/8" bolt or 3/8" chain, or any combination of 6. front lip may be bent down but hood must be in stock location.
Boxes no bending box sides down, may have 6 extra hold downs, chain or u-bolts, plus factory hold downs. No metal in box and no seam welding. Truck tail gates may be welded on outside only, may be slid down 2" from factory.
Header holes and fire hole may have 4-3/8" bolts to hold inner to outer, if hood holes are rolled or folded over do not weld or bolt.
Fenders and quarters may be trimmed and may be bolted to inner to outer with 6-3/8" bolts, no higher than 5" from original wheel opening, threads must point in. (No Exceptions)
Wagon tailgates must be in stock location, may weld 5" on 5" off on out side only with 2"x 1/8" flat strap or you may use 4-3/8" chains 2 per side and may not connect.
May have 2 windshield bars, 18" apart at bottom, bars may not connect, no cross bars. May have 1 rear window bar in center of opening, material no bigger than 2"x 1/4" round or square, welded or bolted in. May have driver door window netting only.
Bumpers: Open class any bumper any car, may weld mounts to frame, shocks to bumper, may drain shocks and push in and weld, you may have 1-4"x 6"x 1/4" plate per side from top of frame to top of bumper in front of core support, no angling of this plate, may also have 1 single wrap of 3/8" chain per side. May weld seams but no adding metal. No loaded bumpers. Ends may be bent in and welded or cut off, no sharp edges.
Rear bumpers may be change but must be a rear bumper and have a rear bumper, may be welded but no adding metal, may also use 1 single loop of 3/8" chain per side. Truck bumpers 80's car bumpers allowed on front only, may be welded or bolted on. Must have a stock rear bumper, rear bumper, may have 2-5"x 14"x 1/4" flat strap welded to bumper to tailgate.
Bumper height: Open class 28" to top of bumper Trucks 30" to top of bumper.
Motors & Transmissions: Any motor or transmission combination, no sliding the motor back, may have solid motor mounts, welded or chained to engine cross-member, not to frame rails. Engine cradles may go from motor mount to motor mount under the motor bolted or welded to engine cradle on frame. May brace from front of motor to frame rail using 1"x 1/2" flat strap or 3/8" chain, no angling forwards or backwards if no cradle. Any part of motor may be modified.
If you run a DP do not mount your dash bar closer than 5" to rear most point of firewall/cowl, or you will not run.
Distributor protector allowed, must be attached to motor or transmission, back side no wider then 12", must not contact cage before, during or after, if dash is not cut out and DP touches dash bar you will not be disqualified. It may not be welded, bolted or connected to body,hood or frame. Forward supports must be in side normally positioned headers and not extend past water pump. aftermarket DP's and cradles are allowed but must be separate items and not connect. No plates between water pump and block and motor and transmission. Trucks no DP's.
You may beat flat the engine side of firewall/cowl. Do not re-enforce the firewall/cowl. Do not beat paint bolt, weld on, weld to or modify driver's side of the firewall/cowl in any way. Must have an air cleaner. No skid plates. No engine oil coolers.
Automotive type transmissions, transmission coolers allowed but must be secured in a container in passenger side of car. Steel or braided lines must be used. No fuel line may be used.
Radiator & Support: Stock type radiator in stock position, may use seat belts, ratchet strap or wire to hold in place. No metal strap or plate in front or behind radiator, ac condenser only, may use expanding foam on bottom of radiator only. No radiator barrels. Water or non-toxic antifreeze only. No welding seams on core support. May have in 2 places 4 wraps of #9 wire from top of radiator support to top of front bumper.
Rear-ends: Open cars any 5 lug rear-end. Trucks 3/4 ton 8 lug rear-ends. 5 lug rear-ends may have bracing, may use a 5"x 5" square tube welded to back side of housing and 6" from backing plates. Aftermarket allowed. Square tubing must be on housing. Posse allowed. No floater rear-ends.
May use slider drive shaft.
Suspension: Must be stock car parts. No coil to leaf conversions in old iron cars, 9 leaf max. 5/16" max thickness, 2 1/2" max wide. 58" min. and 60" max length. Stagger 3" rear of axle, 2" front of axle. Stock mounting plates must be used. No home mounting plates and no over sized u-bolts, No welding on spring pack. No flat sprung cars, leaf packs must have a min. of 2" arch. Leaf springs must be in factory position. 80's cars may leaf, 5/16" thick, 2 1/2" wide, 9 leaf max. 48" length min. eyelet to eyelet. 2" stagger front and rear. min. 2" arch. Rear and front mounts may not re-enforce frame. 80's cars not running leafs may use hump plates, you are allowed 1/4" by 22" hump plate, contoured to the hump, centered and welded with one pass of 1/4" weld. This plate may be welded to outside of frame only, match the factory hump and not span the center of hump. Do not weld any seams on rear of the car. 4 leaf spring clamps per side, clamp material 1/4" thick 2" wide, 2-3/8" bolts per clamp. No chains from leaf to frames. No double mains or leaf on top of main leaf. you may reinforce your tie-rods, but must use stock OEM tie-rod ends. You may have 2-3/8" chains from rear-end to body. You may lengthen or shorten your trailing arms, with same size material. No solid arms. You may change coil springs, rear coil springs may be welded or wired in, spring spacers allowed. No solid shocks. Taping leaf springs after inspection ok. Open cars and 2wd drive trucks may use one bolt in center of upper a-arm to spring bucket or 2-3/8" chain or 2-1" flat straps welded to outside of upper a-arms and to spring bucket, not to frame rails, to help hold suspension solid.
Watts link conversion for fords. May convert to 4 link or leaf, 4 link systems may be converted the following way, use the upper and lower trailing brackets off and older Ford, after market brackets allowed, but no thicker than 1/4" and be attached with 3-1/2" bolts each bracket. No shortening of trailing arms, no positioning of bracket to strengthen the front dog legs of rear humps, brackets must be in stock location. Steering wheel to steering box in Open class may be modified. Trucks must have stock number of leafs and have 4 leaf spring bracket per side.
Tires & Wheels: No fluid-filled, cement, solid or studded tires, you are allowed double stuffed, foam filled and skid-loader tires. Open class 30" tall tires max. Truck tires no bigger than 16.5. No solid steel wheel. Split rims must be welded. You may run valve stem protectors. No wheel weights.
No badly damage cars, prefer fresh
80's stock & Mini class- Mini vans, Compact trucks, Small suv's & Midsize Rules
Mini class 4x4's must take out front or rear drive shaft. Ext. cabs and Dakotas are allowed.
Midsize wheel base 111" or less, up to 108" may be RWD 4x4s allowed must take front or rear drive shaft out and go by all rules. 80's stock and Mini class, may hot wire and take dash out and modify shifter.
Midsize must start and shift in factory position and take dash out.
Door bars: May have seat bar and dash bar, may not connect, must be at least 8" off floor and seat bar no further than 6" behind seat. no reinforcing floor, if rusty call. Door plate optional, no further then 6" past drivers door seams, 15" wide max.
Radiator: Stock radiator in stock position, ac condenser only in front of radiator, may use seat belts, ratchet straps or wire to hold in place, no spray foam allowed.
Tires & Wheels: No fluid-filled, cement, solid, studded or skid-loader tires, may stuff and have tubes, snow tires allowed. Stock wheels. Valve stem protectors allowed. No wheel weights.
Frames: No seam welding, adding plates or stuffing. Must have stock body mounts. Compact trucks may reinforce cab mount, may use 1" bolts and 5"x 1/4" plates.
Bodies: No seam welding, no pre-bending any body panel, no extra bolts, wire, duct tape or foam filled panels. May cut for tire clearance, but no adding bolts.
Hoods, Trunks, Doors, Sliding doors, Barn doors, Tailgates and Hatches may be chained or wired in 4 places. Drivers door may be welded inside and outside. No welding tops of doors. Boxes may have 4 extra chains beside factory hold downs, single loops wrapped around frame and box floor. Box and cab may be bolted together using 2- 1" bolts and 5"x 1/4" plates.
Bumpers: Stock bumpers for make and model, bumpers may be bolted on, and have one single loop of 3/8" chain per side, end may be cut but no sharp edges. 80's cars must use 80's bumpers.
Bumper height 80's stock and Mini class 28" to top of bumper, Midsize 26" to top of bumper.
Motor and Transmissions: Mini class and Midsize stock for make and model of vehicle, no motor swapping. 80's stock may swap Chevy to Ford etc. May use 3/8" chain to hold motors in place. No engine cradles, no protectors, no aftermarket parts,. Mini class and Midsize no headers or cutting firewall. 80's stock has a $500 dollar claim on motor by another driver in top 5 of feature. All cars must have a air cleaner. Stock transmissions coolers only in stock location, lines may be looped.
Rear-ends: Stock OEM rear-ends. May have posse. No slider drive shafts.
Suspensions: Stock OEM parts, no reinforcing any parts. No leaf spring brackets, lift kits, helper springs, overload springs, solid shocks, wiring, welding or duct taping springs.Car must bounce.
These three classes are a low dollar classes please keep the cost down.

For in consideration of the right and privilege of entering and participating, displaying and otherwise engaging in the 2012 Crashmasters Demolition derby to be held July 21st, 2012 in Kasson MN. The undersigned being of full lawful authority for and behalf of the company or corporation and/or parent guardian mention hereafter, does release forever discharge and agrees to hold harmless the Dodge County Fair, and Crashmasters, its sponsors, agents, volunteers, heirs, successors, and assigns from all claims, actions, causes of action and demands by reason of any damage, theft or less injury, suffering or death sustained by undersigned or other persons in consequences or in relation to undersigned's participation in said Dodge County Fair Derby.
