Morgan County Fair Demolition Derby Rules 2012
Friday August 3rd at 7 pm
Saturday August 4th at 7 pm
Friday night show will be 1978 and newer full size cars.
Saturday night show will be any year full size cars.
Both shows will have mini, midsize and powder puff. Same rules apply.
Mini cars are 99 inches and shorter. Midsize cars are 100 to 108 inches.
Inspection starts at 2:00 pm, must be inspected 1 hour prior to race.
Cars will register and pay entry fee after passing inspection.
There will be no refund given due to disqualification during the event.
Entry fee is $25 per car.
1. Any passenger car or station wagon allowed (minimum of 110 inch wheel base). No limos, convertibles, hearses, 4-wheel drives, imperials, or checkers.
2. Motor and body do not have to be the same make, however if changed, number 1 spark plug must be in front of ball joint.
3. Car number must appear on both front doors in 24 inch letters and on roof.
4. Driver’s door must be painted white, no all white cars allowed, no obscenities on cars.
5. Radiators and fans must remain in stock location with stock mounts. No radiator supports from one frame rail to the other, tranny coolers are allowed.
6. Batteries must be moved to the front passenger floorboard and must be securely fastened and cover.
7. Original gas tank must be removed and an approved gas tank must be placed in back seat area properly secured and covered, maximum of 6 gallons of gas. Gas tank protectors are allowed, but must be 6 inches away from back dash.
8. Driver’s door can be welded shut, can have driver’s door plate no more than 4 inches passed door ends, all other doors must be number 9 wired or chained shut in no more than 4 places.
9. Hood must be open for inspection, a maximum of 6 tie down number 9 wire or chain allowed, hood must have hole in it for fire protection, no all thread through the hood.
10. Trunk may have maximum of 6 tie downs, number 9 wire or chain only. You are allowed to run tie downs around frame rails, maximum of 6 separate locations. If trunk is unable to be opened must have a 12 inch hole in trunk floor.
11. Must have bar, chain, or number 9 wire from fire wall to roof in middle of windshield, also must have same around driveshaft.
12. Any tire will be allowed no taller than 31 inches, no studded snow tires.
13. All cars must have operable brakes and seatbelt.
14. All glass, chrome, and carpet must be removed and swept clean before arriving at the fairgrounds.
15. Suspension rules: No air shocks, blocks, or altered suspension is allowed. However, you are allowed to kick out front coil springs and/or number 9 wire or bolt top a-arms down.
16. A 4 point cage is allowed, maximum of 4 inch tubing. No kickers or down legs to floor or frame, must not go passed fire wall or 6 inches behind front seats. Needs to be secured to body only by welding or number 9 wire. No cages inside of doors, must be in driver’s compartment. May have a single up and over the roof bar attached to this cage only.
17. Bumpers must be bolted on with a maximum of 8 ½ inch bolts. Do not weld bumper shocks or bumper mounts. You must have working original bumper shock. Bumper skins and corners may be welded, no adding of metal to exterior of bumpers. You are allowed to number 9 wire or chain around your bumper in 2 places around the frame, 21 inch maximum bumper height. You are allowed to weld the bumper shock plate to the bumper; however the bumper must be able to unbolt off of the car.
18. You are allowed to run number 9 wire in 3 places from core support to bumper only.
19. Body mounts must remain STOCK!!! No removal of body mounts or bolts and no installing new bolts, except core support may use spacer with ½ bolt through it for the purpose of fan clearance. This is on core support mounting bolts only.
20. Rear ends can be changed, coil spring to coil spring only, and leaf spring to leaf spring only. No floater rear ends.
21. Newer Ford cars with aluminum cradles must remain stock. No reclipping of cars. Watts link cars may use bolt on brackets for rear end replacement.
22. Cars must remain stock frame, body, and suspension. Absolutely no modifications unless otherwise mentioned in these rules.
