Alright. A long time ago before Wecrash was updated when it was still on proboards, there were a couple threads about EFI Fords. There was some dang good info on those threads. If anyone has information about running efi, or knows who posted those threads, Id greatly appreciate it.

Does anybody have any pics of an EFI ford setup for a derby? I know that much of the wiring can be removed and emissions garbage too, but im looking for any reference to save some time.

8-9 YEARS AGO A TEAM MATE OF MINE TOOK A MID 80's LINCOLN TOWNCAR, LEFT ALL WIRING ATTACHED, DUCT TAPPED ALL WIRING TOGETHER AND PUT IT ONTOP OF FIRE WALL ON PASSENGER SIDE. HE RAN THE WHOLE TIME, IT NEVER SHUT OFF, EVEN LOSING THE RADIATOR THE 302 RAN STRONG ALL NIGHT.

I have a 302 EFI 3 times in derbies and all 3 times I loved the power and performance it had during the abuse. The 3rd time I lost during the feature because a wire shorted out. Havn't ran EFI since :/

Havn't ran EFI since :/ how much of the wiring did you remove? or did you leave it all in? i ask becasue i ran an 89 lincoln in a stock derby last year.. had to leave the motor as it came in the car, cant switch to carb. i just left all the wiring in because i was short on time, but if i run another one in that class, id like to simplify it as much as possible

I ran a 90 Lincoln.Took out a lot of unused wires o2 sensors also. ran the car 3 times.Won my heat then something went and made it idle at like 4000 rpm..Just won the heat at that point and that was 3rd run. This was a non feature derby lucky.Converted it to carb then finished off the car.I don't run efi unless I'm short on time or anything other than a what I can readily drop my sbf into..But also built a new derby motor so won't be running it again.Ran many Efi in the past Because I didn't have a dedicated derby motor this was my 2nd issue in total. First issue was I didn't move relays off fender when I was 18 yrs old. I'm 28 now Learned alot since. You can win derbies with them if you move stuff and protect wires.I wouldn't recommend for a big derby though.

funny you mention the idle issue, because i had the same thing happen to mine.. no idea why. im runnin on the cheap though, so this stock class is nice, just have to put up with not switchin to carb.

I just picked one wire at a time and traced it back to what it connected to. That seemed the safest way to remove EFI wiring. The wire that shorted out on me in the past was the red wire going to the coil. Was unlucky from that. It didn't get pinched or anything, was just a bad wire.

The only thing I'd unhook is the °2 sensor to make it run slightly richer.I got my Lincoln 2nd hand and the egr tube was broke off I just left it open and ran like that.Like others have said relocate it all put it on your firewall or better yet on top of the intake. This method works really well with compacts. If you don't know much about the newer crap like me I just leave well enough alone. Most of that stuff is supposed to work hand in hand anyhow.
