Just went and picked up an engine from an old Dodge pickup, don't ask me what year it is, because i have no clue. Well, it was originally supposed to be a 318, but when i looked at the casting number, I had my doubts. the number on it is B41849(6 or 8) - (6 or 8 again) - 360(?) i was once told that the last 3 numbers indicates displacement, but wasn't 100% sure. would like to know a little more about this if anyone knows anything

1971'-89', 360. That first letter "B" should be a "3"

I think it is an early to mid 70's 360. Can you get the casting number off the heads too? That will help narrow down the year.

If I'm not mistaken on some of the engines the other side has the year it was built cast right into the block.

Awesome! I wish every time I found a 318 it was actually a 360! 360's are hands down my favorite derby motor.
