This site has decent enough traffic. I beileve the new wecrash has significantly more traffic since the 13th shutdown. This site is near impossible to find if not bookmarked and no one is going to randomly find it by typing we-smash.... people are going to search wesmash... and thats if they know the name they are searching for.
Someone mentioned the fragmenting of the sites....
Clearly someone did not realize the outcomes of the changes when creating the new wecrash.
No such fragmenting.. certainly not to this degree occurred when the wecrash sites went down as suddenlauch servers.. and not when it finally moved from suddenlaunch to proboards because of the suddenlaunch reliablilty issues.
However, it was very clear from the start that the new setup wasn't working right. And the attitude was posted.. IF YOU DON'T LIKE It, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE HERE....
well its getting better over there... I still struggle reading the forum... and I find myself spending far less time on the new wecrash and splitting it up on the different forums.
Why? Cause I like the layout of this one better and there is enough activity to make it worth my while.
By habit i go to the new wecrash... its still my first stop.
But what is fundamentally different.. is that on the proboards wecrash.. I was an addict.. I was on the site almost 24/7. Things seemed to happen quickly there and I could coordinate things with all my derby buddies....
Well, today I rarely get posts or pms from my friends on the new wecrash.
I think i have 2 pm on there ...
Over here I have over 25 in my box and that is going to be the difference.
As for forum layouts...
the DerbyThis forum is probably the nicest layout I have seen for a forum page.
Its flashy like wecrashes new one.. the listings are like on here..
Obviously it doesn't have the activity, but I can tell u, had the new Wecrash even started with a forum page that looked like that.. there wouldn't be any issues from anyone.
So.. for the time being... this tried and true style forum with enough good people on it.. will maintain to be my #2 stop and the one I appear to be on the most and the longest...
I do spend time on all derby forums.. I think I am registered to every one of them out there.
So there has been alot of forums around and yes wecrash was the largest and best by far...
But thats just not the case today....
Its pretty and its ok...and I willl use it .. and continue watch it improve.. cause its still got along ways to go. But there have been some changes for the better over there.. the basics now almost work on most internet devices...
But in all honesty, no one can be blamed for causing a fragment of the forum community unless you want to blame Wecrash.... cause if it had been released as a decent forum product... none of this would have happened...
It was crap and anyone who went there.. knew it in a flash.
On another note.. its kinda like re inventing the wheel.. They are at bias plys and soon will get to radials.. and its quite probably it could surpass this forum in features and quality...
And when it does.. I will be there..more....until then..
I will continue to use all the derby forums... And this one is as good an alternative to the old wecrash proboards as it can get for the time being...
