Yeah exactly Jon, there were probablly 50,00 multiple screen name members or more cause if you went thru there list and looked at the number of posts most had were 10 or less. Just another way for Tory to pump his ego and pocket book up. Tom

I cautioned many folks about the fake hype. It would have been nice if someone believed me. I know how big the derby world is. I know how many engines I sell and how many are on the track time and time again. If I have as many as I do, but yet others are claiming to build more, but you never see them on the track, it makes more sense now for folks that understand the market isn't as big as people think. There aren't 10,000 derby customers willing to buy engines. Some of the builders claiming to be returning 100 calls/messages a day are full of crap. So was 50,000 members or more. After the meltdown, I think there were less than 5000 a day viewing wecrash. Realistic, as far as my estimate.
Before the switchover to the new site, I conducted an experiment with my thread on wecrash vs. my website and measured traffic on both. It was interesting.
Hopefully a fresh start and can keep it real over here.

9 days of my post on wecrash with everyone putting in their two cents about how I didn't know anything and THE THREAD had about 10,000 views in that nine day period. Then I posted actual content for people to view and learn from and in 9 days on my website - only 1100 views on the site in the same timeframe.
Basically, people would rather jump on and live in derby drama land instead of going and reading real info. Read the info, and debate it, fine. But that isn't what people wanted to do over there. Hype, and drama, and who cares about facts and reality.
Again, the derby world really is pretty small. To think there are 50,000 derby people who joined was nuts. Even if you counted all of the 15 year old experts.

I wish it didn't cost so much. Truthfully, I could build a Mayhem winning engine for less than $1000 if you just count parts, no labor, and no costs for the research it took to get where I am, and most importantly -- if I spent hours and hours searching ebay, swap meets, craigslist, etc., and got the deals I needed to find (no, I won't share what to look for).
I remember 10+ years ago when I was first selling products on a nationwide scale and people were thinking it was crazy to buy new tires - because back then you could go to the local tire place and find some decent 7.00-15 tires for $10 or 15. Now you can barely find them, so new seems easier to most. Same with engines - I have some ads I handed out at shows where I have full roller engines for $2595 fresh. PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THAT COST!!
If we keep the drama out, and support the folks in the sport instead of cutting each others throats, there is a future. But I'm not sure that is going to happen. If new people to the sport could see the good guys and not the keyboard kings, we'd have more joining.

Now unless you have a buddy there you are F'ed drama is what drives these boards.....frank zappa said it best when alice cooper supposedly sacrificed chickens on stage(even though he never did). "don't tell anyone, the advertising it is generating you can't buy!" got to love Frank Zappa

Im trying to get my nephew into this sport and he really has no intrest cause he has seem how much i have spend..Wish the days of knocking out the windows and go were still around
