OPEN MODIFIED FULLSIZE CARS
NO YEAR LIMIT! – NO HEARSES, IMPERIALS, OR AMBULANCES.
1) If it is not in the rules that does NOT mean it is acceptable!! Call with concerns first.
2) Frame plates are allowed with maximum of 2 plates in front and 2 in rear. Sizes not to exceed 4” x 18” x ¼”
a. No more plates will be allowed other than specified. (Total of 4 plates on outside of frame – no inside, top, or bottom)
3) Frame seams may be welded on top only ½” bead single pass with no extra metal added
4) No filling frame with any type of material
5) Stubbing is allowed but no metal added.
6) Gas tank protectors are allowed. (NO larger than 6” bars and NO wider than 24” inside diameter) may rest against back seat panel but MAY NOT be attached to any part of the car.
7) No interior seam welding allowed.
8) Fire holes min. 14” square
9) Hood bolts 6 bolts or threaded rod total (1” maximum in size).
b. Maximum of 2 through radiator support (these can be welded OR bolted but not both, if welded must be welded vertically maximum of 2” from radiator support)
c. Hood hinges count as 1 bolt.
10) Trunk lids (Must have access hole)
d. May be welded 5” on 5” off. May use 2” x 5” plate no thicker than 1/8”.
e. Or Trunk maybe bolted with 2 bolts (maximum diameter 1”) Bolts maybe welded vertically or bolted to frame but not both
11) Doors maybe welded drivers door completely any other doors 5” on 5” off may use 2” x 5” plate no thicker than 1/8”.
12) Transmission protectors are allowed provided they DON’T strengthen frame.
13) Engine cradles are allowed but no added mounts other than motor mounts.
14) Radi barrels are allowed but must be mounted in stock position.
15) Bumper Heights - 25” maximum & 15” minimum from bottom of bumper.
16) Suspension can be welded in front. Back may chain axle to frame only NOT TO BODY! (chain may not exceed 36” in length per side)
17) Bumpers maybe attached by welding only.
18) Bumper seams may be welded but no metal added and must be able to see inside bumper will be scoped if necessary! If not factory bumper you may use the following: Front bumper may be 6” tall x 2” deep x 3/8” thick x 60” long hollow tubing. Back bumper may use 3” tube x 3/8” thick x 60” square or round hollow tube. (ends must be open to see through on both and must be straight no point in middle)
19) Up to 5 - 3/8” bolts and 3/8” standard washers in wheel openings no more than 5” from wheel opening. (fenders may be rolled and bolted but absolutely no metal added.)
20) No additional body bolts may be added anywhere.
21) Dash bars and a rear seat bar are REQUIRED. Both bars must have a minimum thickness of ¼”, may be square or round, with a minimum of 3” diameter and a maximum of 6” diameter. The rear bar must be mounted post to post behind the driver’s seat and must be mounted 3” up or down from the center of the seat – not including the head rest. This must be welded to both sides. If plates are used, they are not to exceed 8”x8” with a maximum thickness of 1”. Front dash bar must be mounted horizontally as far forward as possible with a minimum of 4” gap between distributor protector and dash bar. Both bars may have a safety chain secured around it and secured through the floor or the fire wall to the frame for safety. No galvanized pipe allowed. Driver and front passenger door bar must be mounted on the inside of the car from the front bar to the rear bar. Door bars must be welded and no more than 6” past dash and seat bars. No bar may exceed 6” in diameter and MUST be padded for the driver’s safety.
22) Any car with aluminum engine sub frame may be replaced with a steel engine sub frame but can NOT have any metal added. Absolutely no after market or home made sub frames.
23) Pre run cars are allowed please call with questions on these rules.
24) Body spacers may be used (5” max. allowed).
25) No leafing unless factory leafed.
1980 AND NEWER LIMITED FULL SIZE CARS
CARS MUST REMAIN ABSOLUTELY STOCK UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE IN THE RULES. If it is not in the rules it does not mean you can do it. Officials decisions are final!
1) Key switch can be converted to push button. Shifter can be switched from column to floor.
2) Cars must remain with stock bumper it came with.
3) May weld bumper shocks and chain bumper to car. 3 – 1” welds per bumper shock only. 2 – 3’ chains per bumper with 3 - 1” links welded. (one on top of frame, one on bumper, one on bottom of frame) max. 1” chain links allowed.
4) 22” maximum bumper height to bottom of bumpers (both front and rear).
5) Steering column to be factory.
6) Hood may be secured in four spots by chain, cable, wire, or bolts only. (4 – 3’ - 1” link chain, cable, or #9 wire) Bolt size should be 1” max. Bolts may be allowed to run through radiator support (these count for 2 bolts). Hood hinges count for 2 bolts.
7) Engine and transmission may be altered but rear end must remain stock.
8) Headers, inverted manifolds, and pipes are allowed.
9) Stock type radiators must be used.
10) All suspension to be completely factory. No strengthening or altering.
11) BODY MOUNTS TO REMAIN AS IS, ABSOLUTELY NO ALTERING, TIGHTENING, REMOVAL, ETC. ALLOWED. (if rotted out please call for exceptions)
12) Wheel wells may be cut up to 3” maximum to allow for tire clearance. No bolts or welding allowed.
13) 13”, 14” or 15” tires (no split rims) valve stem protectors allowed. All tires must be DOT approved.
14) Bolt in axles allowed as long as they are factory/stock rear-ends (manufactures must match). May weld rear-ends and gears. (chevy rear-ends to chevy car, ford rear-ends to ford car, etc.)
15) No welded axle tubes or extra bracing.
16) Trunk must be empty and free of dirt and debris. Trunk lid must remain in stock position. Trunk may be secured in 4 spots by chain, cable, wire, or bolts only. (4 – 3’ - 1” link chain, cable, or #9 wire) Bolt size should be 1” max. Must be able to see inside of trunk for inspection.
17) Rear seat and dash bars are REQUIRED. No Kickers are allowed. Both bars must have a minimum thickness of ¼”, may be square or round, with a minimum of 3” diameter and a maximum of 6” diameter. The rear bar must be mounted post to post behind the driver’s seat and must be mounted 3” up or down from the center of the seat – not including the head rest. It may be welded or bolted to sides. If plates are used, they are not to exceed 8”x8” with a maximum thickness of 1”. Bolts used, not to exceed 3/4” in diameter. Front dash bar must be mounted horizontally above the steering column as far forward as possible. With a minimum of 4” from the Distributor hole. This, too, may be welded or bolted. Both bars must have a safety chain secured around it and secured through the floor or the fire wall to the frame for safety. No galvanized pipe allowed. A driver’s door ONLY bar MUST be mounted on the inside of the car from the front bar to the rear bar. This may be welded or bolted in. No bar may exceed 6” in diameter and MUST be padded for the driver’s safety.
18) All doors must be chained. One chain per door. (with no more than 3’ of chain, 1” links)
19) Can weld DRIVERS door – 5 – 4” X 4” plates allowed. (2 in front, 2 in back, 1 on top) DRIVERS DOOR ONLY
20) Stock drive shafts. NO SLIDERS
21) NO Distributor Protectors, Cradles, Tranny protectors!
21) No Chaining body to frame.
22) NO Tran. Coolers relocated.
23) No reinforcing other then stated in rules.
24) No pre-bending allowed.
25) No extra bolts or protection other then stated in rules.
26) Any modifications above these rules will move to the next class up.
FOR COMPACT CARS
1) COMPACT: Any 2 or 4 door sedan or station wagon with a wheel base under 106” will be allowed, 4 and 6 cylinder only. No full frame cars, buses, AMC, trucks or 4x4’s.
No convertibles are allowed.
2) Hoods and trunks must be bolted with bolts no less than 3/8” but not more than 1” or chained with chains not to exceed 6’ in length with 1” links and no welding, but not both. No more than 6 bolts may be used in the hood (hood hinges count for 2 bolts) and 2 bolts on the trunk lid with washers not to exceed 6”x6”x1/4” in size. Front two head bolts may go through front body mount. Trunk lids may be removed but may not be relocated. Lids can be tucked with the original hinges being used (if you can see in) and solidly bolted to the floor. No wedges are allowed.
3) All hoods must have a 14” square fire hole.
4) Tailgates on station wagons may be chained or bolted with chains not to exceed 3’ in length with 1” links or no more than 4 bolts of 1” in diameter with straps not to exceed 2”x18”x1/4”, but can not be formed around corner.
5) Any four door hard top without a center post must add a chain from the roof to half way down the door where the center post would normally be. Links in the chain to be no larger than 1” in diameter. This must be done on both sides.
6) Body mounts may not be altered on cars that have not been previously run in a demolition derby. If body mounts have been damaged, bolts may be replaced only with bolts of similar size (up to ¾” in diameter) and washers no larger than 1” in diameter. Bolts may not go all the way through the frame.
7) Fenders may be trimmed or removed but not reinforced. Cars that have previously been used in a demolition derby and need sheet metal repair may use 3/8 “ bolts to make such repairs. Use only as many bolts needed to secure the sheet metal in place.
8) All plastic bumper covers must be removed.
9) Suspension may not be blocked. No coil over shocks.
10) No welded rims or rims that have been modified for reinforcement. No studded tires will be allowed.
11) You must have a dash bar and a rear seat bar. Both bars must have a minimum thickness of ¼”, may be square or round, with a minimum of 3” diameter and a maximum of 6” diameter. The rear bar must be mounted post to post behind the driver’s seat and must be mounted 3” up or down from the center of the seat – not including the head rest. It may be welded or bolted to sides. If plates are used, they are not to exceed 8”x8” with a maximum thickness of 1”. Bolts used, not to exceed 3/4” in diameter. Front dash bar must be mounted horizontally above the steering column as far forward as possible. This, too, may be welded or bolted. Both bars must have a safety chain secured around it and secured through the floor or the fire wall to the frame for safety. No galvanized pipe allowed. A driver’s door ONLY bar may be mounted on the inside of the car from the front bar to the rear bar. This may be welded or bolted in. No bar may exceed 6” in diameter and MUST be padded for the driver’s safety.
** 12) Gas tank protectors are MANDATORY. (NO larger than 6” bars and NO wider than 24” inside diameter) may rest against back seat panel but MAY NOT be attached to any part of the car. Can only be welded off the back seat bar! No gussets or kickers.
13) Any bumper on any vehicle as long as stock - Front on Front – Back on Back (NOT homemade)
If any questions arise as to the legality of a vehicle, bring it to the attention of an official before the pit meeting. THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES IS FINAL!!

The Derby will be composed of individual heats, one (or more) consolations, and features; feature demolition events will be comprised of two winners of each heat and two winners of the consolation (may be modified depending on the number of entries). Decision of the official judges will be final as to the heat winner. These rules supersede any and all rules previously used. Judges reserve the right to stop the event at any time and determine the winner based on performance.
