Full size Vehicle type:
Any American made hardtop, 2 or 4dr automobile or station wagon is permitted. NO trucks,jeeps,hearses,ambulances,full frame imperials,2003 or newer ford products.
Preperations;All glass,head and tail lights,marker lights must be removed,all exterior chrome molding,rear seat,emblems,plastic,or fiberglass,carpet,headliner and all windows must be removed. Drivers door and passenger door must have your number on it. Roof signs are highly recomended also. All vehicles must have brakes before start of event.
FRAMES;You may weld top frame seam firewall forward only,you may cold bend or tilt 80' and newer ford products with no added metal.You may restub a pre ran fullframe GM frame by cutting factory welds behind firewall and welding a new front frame section in.No extra metal can be added,frame must be fixed just like the factory did it originally with just a welder.also you may restub a pre ran fullsize car or wagon in front frame section in front of A-arms . No added plates or patches,just use the welder.
(This rule is so a pre ran GM can be fixed to get one more run out of it.)
NO hump plates allowed.
But if your pre ran has hump plates, please cut them off before inspection. Must remove trailer hitches and braces.
NO undercoating or painting on frame.
Body bolts;may be changed to 3/4'' with a 4"by 4'' plate. No extra body mounts allowed.
Bumpers;Only factory automotive bumpers allowed.Bumpers can be seam welded.All factory bumper brackets and shocks can be welded.Bumpers can be welded directly to frame with NO added metal.(hardnosed).
Bumper Ht. 14" min 24" max ht.
Safety Cage; A 4-point cage is highly reccomended.(dash bar,seat bar and connecting door bars). All bars must be securely welded. 4'' tubing is max size.seat bar must be 6'' from back of seat max.12'' by 12'' plates may be used to mount seat bar on the post. You may run a rollover bar,but must be attached to seat bar.No Kickers anywhere. Gas tank protector allowed on sedans only. Must be only 24'' wide and 1'' from rear sheetmetal.
Motor and trans;Any automotive engine and tranny combo can be used.Distributor protectors are allowed,but must not contact firewall or dash bar before,during or after derby.OR you will be disqualified. .Engine cradles can be used for mounting purposes only.If you use a front bottom crank pulley protector,you must remove front sway bar.Only factory or alum. radiators can be used.NO radibarrels.Tranny Coolers allowed as long as there safe.You may use a floor shifter.
Doors-drivers door can be welded.All outher doors can have 1 chain or 1 3'' by 8'' steel plate per verticle seam and you may have 1 chain per horizontal seam per door.Any door that comes open will result in a disqualification.
Trunks;Can be secured in only 2 places ---2 chains or 2 - 3/4'' allthread in trunk lid,or you may have 2- 6'' by 3'' plates welded quarter panel to trunk lid .3/4'' allthread can be bolted or welded to frame. Plates can be no larger than 6'' by 6''.
If you have a wedged car or sedagon you must have a 10" by 10" inspection hole.
Tailgates; can be secured in 2 places---chained in 2 places or have 2- 6'' by 3'' welds.No allthread in rear of wagons.
Tires;Any ply tires,tubes and valve stem protectors ok .30'' max heaght limit.
Hoods;'must have a 12'' hole cut if not using headers thru hood,hood must be open for inspection.Hoods can be fastened by 4- chains or 4- pieces of 1" max allthread . Only 2- pieces can go thru frame (core support).
6" by 6" plates for hood washers.
May bolt hood cut out with 10 3/8" bolts max.
Suspension;Must remain stock. No watts link conversions on 98' and newer ford products. No leaf conversions, Leafs must be stock from factory and in stock location.Must use 5-lug automotive rearend. No truck rearends.You may use 4 leaf spring clamps per side on leaf spring cars. You may also chain humps axle to frame.1 wrap only.
interior and body;one or 2 batteries any size is permitted.Only steel boat tanks and fuel cells will be permitted. Batteries and fuel tanks must be securely fastened. Must have 1 chain or 3'' steel strap in middle of windshield to protect driver.
You may have 5 3/8" bolts in each fender.
Driver and pit crew; driver must be atleast 16 years old.drivers 16 and 17 must provide a notarized permission slip from parent or legal guardian to participate. No children under 12 in pits. Everyone requesting pit passes must sign a release waiver.Entry fee and pit passes are non refundable. No alcohol or drugs in pit area. Any driver or pit person believed to be under influence will imediately be disqualified. No switching drivers allowed. Any misconduct or breaking rules or fighting will result in disqualification also. Not responsible for injury,accidents or stolen property.
Safety and running; Each car /driver only allowed 1 reinspection to fix the problem according to rules. Only driver and 1 pit person allowed at inspection. DOT or snell aproved helmet required. Safety belts must be worn while in competition area. Eye protection must be worn. All drivers must attend drivers meeting. Shirts and long pants, and shoes are required to participate. No deliberate drivers door hits, do not get out of car unless directed by official. If your vehicle catches on fire your disqualified from that heat. You have 20 seconds to make a agressive hit. Sandbagging will not be tolerated. NO team driving or holding. All feature cars will be reinspected at end of feature.
PROTEST FEE; There is a $100 protest fee. Protest must be before drivers meeting. If car is found illegal,car and driver will be disqualified and protester will get his money back. If car is found to be legal, the driver will get $100 and the protester will get disqualified. You must be a drive in the class to protest another car in the same class.
* All demo vehicles must be inspected 1 hr. before start of derby. Drivers meeting will be held at 1:30 sharp.
If you show up late and are not inspected 1 hour before derby starts, you will pay a $25 late fee. Don't be that person.
