Recently bought a Coats 40/50A Tire changer. Just doesn't seem to want to break the bead. It's adjusted correctly and the bottom breaker is coming up in the correct spot, just seems kind of nutless. Any suggestions?

Try putting a little air tool oil in the line. It might seal it up a little better. I have a machine that didn't work like it should. I pulled off the covers and found that the holes where the pins are were ovaled out. I did a little welding and it works a lot better.

Thanks guys. I haven't been able to pop the cover off yet. Just trying to get some preliminary ideas before I do. I've tried it from 110 psi all the way to 150.

this is gonna sound dumb but i got one similar
a. it struggles with doubled up skid steers. it takes some muscle to go with the machine and if i wasnt a fat butt i dont know if i could do it. tires that have been layin around on nasty rims take some muscle
b. that mechanism that comes up on the bottom of the tire wont come up all the way if somethings been dropped in there...big enough to wedge it

A old valve stem or wheel weight in the right spot won't allow it to come all the way up. Drain the tank on it as well. They usually get for got about and don't get drained like they should.

Where would it be that it wouldn't allow it to come up? Somewhere inside in the base for the bottom bead breaker? And the tank you're talking about, do you mean the air tank?
