just saying, 1973 gms are different that 74+. SO should we have the tips for 2 different types of cars in the same thread?

I ran one of these this year and I've read a lot and looked at a lot of pictures. First off the rears of these things are really strong with a tuck and notch. The fronts one the other hand they first like to bend right in front of the a-arms. Then after you fix this problem they like to bend at the firewall when the frame turns to c-channel. I also believe if your running a 74 or 75 monte you would be better off with a softer bumper (I will be trying this this summer) because the corners of these bumpers are very strong and will mess up frame rails fast if you make sure you hit square though you will be fine

anybody ran a slider in one of these and remember the length of the driveshaft over all?? I have a sbc with 400 long tail and if my measurements are correct i only have room for a 50" drive shaft with some hanging out ill be under 4' and if it matters its a 74 monte

Do you build a 71 monte the same way or is there different strong/weak spots?

Just a suggestion but I wouldnt run the 71 monte,, worth alot more as a muscle car

I HAVE RUN TWO MONTES. 1973 1976, REARENDS ON BOTH I NOTCHED AND TUCKED VERY HAPPY WITH THAT END! NOT SO HAPPY WITH FRONTS! FACTORY SHOCK TUBES WERE TOUGH ENUFF BUT FRAME ON PASS. SIDE BENT ON BOTH IN FRONT OF A ARM. 76 TOOK 3 HEAD-ONS BUT 3RD ONE FINISHED IT OFF. I STILL LIKE THESE CARS I'D RUN ANOTHER!
