Hey guys Im new to building and driving derby cars but I have watched a lot and Im trying to increase my game. I have seen cars that get a lot of height from welding the A arms to the frame. Can you guys explain in detail how this is done. Pictures are worth a thousand words IMO cause ill admit if i cant see what your talking about I might not understand. So if you have any picture pleas post them. Thanks for any tips in advance

or if you can direct me to a previous thread that talks about this that would be helpful. Pictures of bolting the A arms down would be helpful too thanks

Welding A Arms is a easy thing to do, Before jacking up the front end cut the rubber mount on the a arm. Jack the car up till the a arms bottom out use a hammer and beat down the slot where the rubber mount was at. Then weld. But that isn't the max height you can get. You can get another 2 to 3 inches if you cut out the pad under the a arm where the rubber mount would rest on if it was still there. You will have to take the upper a arm off to cut this. Another thing is just put a bigger set of springs in the front. You can still weld the a arms down but it helps keep the height if the welds breaks.

like said above you can cut the bump stop tabs off the frame completely to gain some extra height and weld a piece of pipe from the lower control arm to the bottom of the frame By redneckracing12 at 2011-10-26
