DRIVER ENTRY RULES
1. Demolition Derby entries are open to anyone 18 years of age or older. All drivers must supply their own cars. Drivers 16 & 17 years of age may enter with the legally notarized approval of their parent or guardian. The Parent or Guardian must appear with identification at the registration. NO EXCEPTIONS!! PROOF OF AGE WILL BE REQUIRED!!
2. All Pit Crew members must be 18 years of age or older. Pit Crew members 16 & 17 years of age must meet the same requirements as drivers detailed in Rule 1. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
3. I.D. will be required for anyone appearing under 30 years of age. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
4. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages or drugs will be permitted in the Pit Area. Any Driver or Pit Crew member found with alcoholic beverages or drugs will cause their car to be disqualified immediately.
5. Any Driver or Pit Crew member judged to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will cause their car to be disqualified.
6. The Central Burnett Co. Fair Assoc. and Derby Officials will not be responsible for any vehicle or its components while on the fairgrounds – they are the responsibility of the Drivers & Owners. Drivers and Owners are required to remove their demolition derby cars from the arena and the fairgrounds by the deadline that is announced at the time of the derby.
7. The Central Burnett Co. Fair Assoc.. and Derby Officials reserve the right to reject any and/or all entries.
8. Any Drivers protesting another vehicle must do so before the pit meeting. Officials will inspect the vehicle being protested and the vehicle of the person filing the protest and any decision reached by the officials will be final. Derby officials reserve the right to re-inspect any vehicle, before, during, or after the derby. THERE WILL BE A PROTEST FEE!! IF NOTHING IS FOUND, THE FEE IS FORFEITED.
9. A crash helmet, eye protection, seat belt, and/or shoulder harness are required and must be worn throughout the event.
10. All derby vehicles will be subject to open hood and trunk inspections unless damage from prior derbies makes that impossible. Trunks that don’t open must be able to be seen from back seat area.
11. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification during any derby and will result in suspension for a year and ten days. Examples, not limited to: reckless driving or excessive speed in the pit area, excessive harassment of Officials by Driver, Pit Crew, family and/or friends who may be in the spectator area; as well as against each other.
12. There will be no Powder Puff! Women are invited to compete with the men in all classes.
13. All rulings of the officials on any questions are final!!! NO WHINING!!!
14. Drivers and Pit Crew members will not be allowed to enter the grandstand. If you pay for a pit pass, you stay in the pit area for the entire derby or your pit pass will be forfeited.
15. All entries should be in the pit area at least 45 minutes prior to the start time. No entries will be taken or pit passes sold later than 45 minutes before start time.
PREPARATION FOR FULL-SIZE STOCK CARS (NO MODIFIED CARS)
1. Only 2 or 4 door sedans, hardtops, or station wagons may be used. No Carryalls, hearses, Chrysler Imperials, or Sedagons will be permitted. No “Tucking.”
2. Every hood must have a minimum 12” to 14” hole over the carburetor. If the hood is removed for competition, the fan must also be removed.
3. TIRES: Only 14” or 15” tires are permitted. Tires may not be bolted to the rim in any manner. No ply restrictions on tires. If snow tires are used on the drive axle, the outside lugs must be cut off. NO SPLIT RIMS!!
4. All glass must be removed from windows, headlights, and taillights prior to arrival. NO WINDSHIELDS! Rolling down windows is not permitted. No bars allowed in windshields!! Two chains are allowed. Back edge of hood may be bolted with two bolts up to 3/8” and plates less than 3” in size. No reinforcements from roof to floor of vehicle will be allowed. Dash Bars optional, see #5 for rules.
5. Dash Bars: Dash bars will be permitted as long as they meet the following requirements. Maximum size will be 3” outside diameter. One plate will be allowed on each end of the bar with a maximum plate size of 4” x 4”. Dash bar can be connected to the brace behind the seat in any manner. No kickers of any kind allowed from the dash bar or bar behind the seat to any other point on the car. Dash bar can not be connected to the floor, roof, or frame in any manner.
6. ***A four-point cage inside the car consisting of a dash bar, a driver’s side door bar, passenger side door bar and a bar behind the seat is permitted.
7. Absolutely NO REINFORCEMENTS of any part of the vehicle or materials in the trunk will be permitted unless specified elsewhere.
8. Trailer hitches must be completely removed.
9. For driver safety, a brace may be installed behind the driver’s seat. It must run from the bottom of the door post on the driver side, approximately 18” from the floor up, on the passenger side. It may be no larger than 4” pipe or tubing & plates on each end may be no larger than 4”.
10. Factory gas tanks must be removed from the vehicle and are not allowed inside the vehicle for competition. Drivers must use STEEL tanks no larger than 7 gallon capacity. Examples: steel Boat tanks, steel snowmobile tanks, small steel tractor tanks or similar. NO PLASTIC TANKS. Gas cans are not allowed. No gas line may extend past the rear seat of the vehicle. Gas lines must be firmly attached to the steel tank used. A maximum of 7” of rubber line on each end of gas line should be used. Use a Metal Line between. Line must run inside of vehicle on the floor, not outside of vehicle.
11. Gas tanks must be located behind the driver’s seat, or in middle of car where back seat was, securely fastened to the floor and securely covered. (Example: floor mat) Gas tanks and lines must pass judges inspection. No Ratchet Straps or Banding Belts will be allowed. Can use chains with at least 3/8” bolts.
12. ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS: Are permitted. Must have a separate shut off switch and the pump must be fully covered like gas tank.
13. Fenders and bumpers may be trimmed with a torch. Doors and trunk may be welded with 3 – 4” x 4”x ¼” steel plates per seam or trunk lids and hoods may be secured by the following methods: 4 chains or 4 rods on the hood or trunk lids are allowed. If chains are used, they are only to be wrapped around once; no larger than ¾” threaded rod; only 2 rods may go through to the frame, the others can go to the body only. Plates or washers may be no larger than 4” by 4”. All hoods must be open before inspection. No screws allowed in fenders. Trunks that don’t open must be able to be seen from back seat area.
14. Threaded rods may be secured to the frame of the vehicle by bolting or welding. No more than 4” of the rod may be welded to the frame. Only factory body bolts or mounts are allowed, with the exception of the two front clip bolts and mounts (core support).
15. DOORS: Driver’s door must be painted a contrasting color (white, florescent green, or blaze orange) to make it easier to detect hits to the driver’s door. Driver’s door may be bolted or chained, but not both. If door is welded, it must be with no more than a total of 3- 4x4x ¼” steel plates per door seam. It is strongly recommended that a cage be installed over the window of the driver’s door. Cage may extend no more than 2” past edge of door. All other doors may be welded with 3 – 4x4x ¼” steel plates per door seam or must be chained with no more than two chains per door. Chains are not allowed to exceed 24” in length. It is also recommended on hard top cars, that a chain be run from the post to the roof on the driver’s and passengers doors. Chain may not run from floor to roof. Only one pass around is allowed with each chain. One piece of steel must be welded across the driver’s door for safety. It may extend no more than 4” past the door on either end and be no more than 6” wide.
16. STATION WAGONS: Tailgates may be chained with two lengths of chain not to exceed 30” in length, or may be welded with 3 – 4”x4”x ¼” steel plates per seam. Absolutely no threaded bolts will be allowed in the rear of any station wagon. No “Tucking!!!”
17. BUMPERS: Front bumper may be from another American made car OR homemade with 4 x 4 x ¼ box tubing. Must be no longer than the outside of the front fenders and Officials must be able to see all the way through the tube. Must have a bumper casing around it, in front. To hold the bumper to the frame, you MUST use a 2 x 2 x ¼ angle iron bolted or welded. Only 6” of welding allowed on frame for fastening brackets. No additional metal will be allowed!! THESE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED.
18. RADIATORS: Radiators must be in original positions. Alternate may be built no more than 24” x 24” x 3” thick but cannot be wider than frame rails either top or bottom. May be bolted or welded in stock position with a maximum of 8” of welding with out adding any metals of any kind. No other auxiliary coolers will be allowed. Radiators must contain water only, no antifreeze.
19. TRANSMISSIONS: Transmission cooling systems are optional and must pass safety inspection. Mounts may be welded or chained. Transmission coolers cannot exceed 24” x 24”.
20. ENGINES: The engine in the vehicle does not have to be of the same manufacturer as the body. Stacks are permitted. Motor mounts may be welded. Two additional chains or straps may be used. They may be bolted to the motor and welded to the frame. Straps may not exceed 1/4” by 2” by 24”. No more than 6” of strap may be welded to frame.
21. SUSPENSION: All suspensions should be as close to stock as possible. All suspensions must meet the approval of the officials at inspection. Leaf spring conversions are allowed. Leaf springs must be of passenger car origin and staffer down from longest to shortest. Each leaf must be a least 1” shorter than the one above it. Leaf springs must be mounted under the axle. Maximum of 4 clamps per side no larger than 2” x 4” x 1/4”. Rear shackles may be welded or bolted to the frame and no larger than 3” wide x 8” long. Maximum of 7 leafs allowed. No welding of leafs. Must be stock height.
22. BATTERIES: One or two stock automotive batteries OR one larger battery is allowed. Batteries must be securely fastened to the floor and covered with a floor mat or carpet to protect driver in case of battery explosion. Battery boxes cannot exceed 24” x 24”. No ratchet straps or banding belts can be used. You may use chain with at least 3/8” bolts. Battery must be secured as well as the box it is in!
23. All cars must have working brakes before the beginning of the heat.
24. RUSTED OUT FACTORY FLOOR OR BODY: Holes may be patched with place no thicker than 1/8” thick, within reason of length. Officials will inspect and will make final decisions allowing how much weld is OK. If factory floor is rusted out, you may weld in floor material not to exceed 1/8” thickness but cannot be welded to the sub-frame.
25. Any object attached to the outside of the vehicle must meet the approval of the officials.
26. Vehicles can be decorated in any manner within the limits of good taste. NO obscenity will be permitted. Paint a number of your choice on the driver’s door, passenger door, and a stand up sign on the roof no more than 24” wide before you arrive at the derby. Numbers must be in all three locations. Roof sign may not be braced to any other part of the Vehicle. No support rods running to floor of vehicle. Any duplicate numbers will be changed before the derby starts.
27. All glass and trash must be removed from the vehicle before arriving at the derby.
28. Frames from previous run derbys, can be patched by a 4” x ¼” thick long plate and no taller then the frame. Derby officials will inspect the frames thoroughly! May be plated on two sides and if the frame rail has more than one bend per rail they may both be fixed not being able to connect the two areas being fixed together.
29. Any vehicle that is from a previous derby, must meet all of the regulations and meet the approval of the officials before it will be allowed to run!
PREPARATION OF COMPACT STOCK CARS
Ford Pintos, Mustangs and Mercury Models are not allowed in this class. Front wheel drive cars ONLY! The Compact Stock Car class will follow all the rules of the Full-Size Stock Car class with the exception of the rules listed below.
1. TIRES: Only 13” and 14” tires or 15” “donuts” may be used.
2. Compact cars may not exceed 104” wheelbase as measured from center hub of front axle to center hub of rear axle. All cars are subject to approval of officials.
3. Engines are to be 4 or 6 cylinder only.
4. Driver door rules are the same as the full-size class.
5. You may weld the suspension solid.
6. AMC Pacers are not allowed in compact class. They may participate in the full-size class.
7. THREADED RODS: No more than 4” of the rod may be welded to the frame.
8. Front bumper may be from another American made compact car OR homemade with 2 x 4 x 3/16 box tubing. See bumper rules from full-size cars for additional information.
9. Frames from previous run derbys, can be patched by a 4” x ¼” thick long plate and no taller then the frame. Derby officials will inspect the frames thoroughly! May be plated on two sides and if the frame rail has more than one bend per rail they may both be fixed not being able to connect the two areas being fixed together.

PREPARATION OF FULL-SIZE STOCK PICKUP TRUCKS
The pickup class will follow all of the rules of the Full-Size Stock Cars with the exception of the rules listed below.
1. Full-sized trucks are defined as half-ton, three-quarter-ton pickups or suburbans. No split rims or welded split rims are allowed.
2. All trucks must be stock. Four wheel drive trucks must have front-drive shaft removed.
3. Gas tank must be mounted in the front center of the box, secured by threaded rod and metal strapping. No ratchet straps or banding belts will be allowed. You may use chains, with at least 3/8” Bolts. Follow all other rules about gas tanks from the full size car rules.
4. For driver safety, the box must be mounted to the cab as follows: 2 bolts or threaded rods no larger than ¾” diameter through box and cab behind the seat. Plates on these bolts may be up to 4” square and up to ¼” thick. Pipe or angle iron must be bolted or welded to the top front edge of the box and back of the cab.
5. Box must be bolted down to the frame with no more than 8 bolts or threaded rods, no more than ¾” diameter, with washers on the frame and no larger than 4” square plates in the box. Side walls of the box may not be rolled in or “tucked” in any manner
6. Tailgates may be welded or chained in stock position with a maximum of 4 – 4” x 4” plates or 4 – 5/16” single loop chains single wrapped.
7. Passenger door may be chained with 2 – 5/16” chains not to exceed 24” in length or Welded with 3 – 4” x 4”x ¼” plates, per door seam.
8. Front bumper may be from another American made pickup OR homemade with 4 x 4 x ¼ box tubing. Must be no longer than the outside of the front fenders and Officials must be able to see all the way through the tube. Must have a bumper casing around it, in front. To hold the bumper to the frame, you MUST use a 2 x 2 x ¼ angle iron bolted or welded. Only 6” of welding allowed on frame for fastening brackets. No additional metal will be allowed!! THESE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED.
9. ***A four-point cage inside the cab consisting of a dash bar, a driver’s side door bar, passenger side door bar and a bar behind the seat is permitted. A rollover bar in the driver’s compartment is also strongly recommended. The rollover bar may not be attached or welded to the frame but may be attached to the cage. From dash bar you are allowed to run 2 down bars to frame not extending outside the cab. (one on drivers side and one on the passenger side).
10. You may run a maximum of 2 braces no larger that 2” x 2” x 1/4” angles or tubes from the top of the core support to the frame no farther back then the center of the front axle, but not to the fire wall. You may also run a 2” x 2” x 1/4” angle or tube along the top of the core support but it cannot extend beyond the width of the frame rails. This rule applies only in the pick-up classes, does not apply to cars.

It is strongly recommended that a cage be installed over the window of the driver’s door. Cage may extend no more than 2” past edge of door. All other doors may be welded with 3 – 4x4x ¼” steel plates per door seam or must be chained with no more than two chains per door. Chains are not allowed to exceed 24” in length. It is also recommended on hard top cars, that a chain be run from the post to the roof on the driver’s and passengers doors. Chain may not run from floor to roof. Only one pass around is allowed with each chain. One piece of steel must be welded across the driver’s door for safety. It may extend no more than 4” past the door on either end and be no more than 6” wide.
16. STATION WAGONS: Tailgates may be chained with two lengths of chain not to exceed 30” in length, or may be welded with 3 – 4”x4”x ¼” steel plates per seam. Absolutely no threaded bolts will be allowed in the rear of any station wagon. No “Tucking!!!”
17. BUMPERS: Front bumper may be from another American made car OR homemade with 4 x 4 x ¼ box tubing. Must be no longer than the outside of the front fenders and Officials must be able to see all the way through the tube. Must have a bumper casing around it, in front. To hold the bumper to the frame, you MUST use a 2 x 2 x ¼ angle iron bolted or welded. Only 6” of welding allowed on frame for fastening brackets. No additional metal will be allowed!! THESE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED.
18. RADIATORS: Radiators must be in original positions. Alternate may be built no more than 24” x 24” x 3” thick but cannot be wider than frame rails either top or bottom. May be bolted or welded in stock position with a maximum of 8” of welding with out adding any metals of any kind. No other auxiliary coolers will be allowed. Radiators must contain water only, no antifreeze.
19. TRANSMISSIONS: Transmission cooling systems are optional and must pass safety inspection. Mounts may be welded or chained. Transmission coolers cannot exceed 24” x 24”.
20. ENGINES: The engine in the vehicle does not have to be of the same manufacturer as the body. Stacks are permitted. Motor mounts may be welded. Two additional chains or straps may be used. They may be bolted to the motor and welded to the frame. Straps may not exceed 1/4” by 2” by 24”. No more than 6” of strap may be welded to frame.
21. SUSPENSION: All suspensions should be as close to stock as possible. All suspensions must meet the approval of the officials at inspection. Leaf spring conversions are allowed. Leaf springs must be of passenger car origin and staffer down from longest to shortest. Each leaf must be a least 1” shorter than the one above it. Leaf springs must be mounted under the axle. Maximum of 4 clamps per side no larger than 2” x 4” x 1/4”. Rear shackles may be welded or bolted to the frame and no larger than 3” wide x 8” long. Maximum of 7 leafs allowed. No welding of leafs. Must be stock height.
22. BATTERIES: One or two stock automotive batteries OR one larger battery is allowed. Batteries must be securely fastened to the floor and covered with a floor mat or carpet to protect driver in case of battery explosion. Battery boxes cannot exceed 24” x 24”. No ratchet straps or banding belts can be used. You may use chain with at least 3/8” bolts. Battery must be secured as well as the box it is in!
23. All cars must have working brakes before the beginning of the heat.
24. RUSTED OUT FACTORY FLOOR OR BODY: Holes may be patched with place no thicker than 1/8” thick, within reason of length. Officials will inspect and will make final decisions allowing how much weld is OK. If factory floor is rusted out, you may weld in floor material not to exceed 1/8” thickness but cannot be welded to the sub-frame.
25. Any object attached to the outside of the vehicle must meet the approval of the officials.
26. Vehicles can be decorated in any manner within the limits of good taste. NO obscenity will be permitted. Paint a number of your choice on the driver’s door, passenger door, and a stand up sign on the roof no more than 24” wide before you arrive at the derby. Numbers must be in all three locations. Roof sign may not be braced to any other part of the Vehicle. No support rods running to floor of vehicle. Any duplicate numbers will be changed before the derby starts.
27. All glass and trash must be removed from the vehicle before arriving at the derby.
28. Frames from previous run derbys, can be patched by a 4” x ¼” thick long plate and no taller then the frame. Derby officials will inspect the frames thoroughly! May be plated on two sides and if the frame rail has more than one bend per rail they may both be fixed not being able to connect the two areas being fixed together.
29. Any vehicle that is from a previous derby, must meet all of the regulations and meet the approval of the officials before it will be allowed to run!
PREPARATION OF COMPACT STOCK CARS
Ford Pintos, Mustangs and Mercury Models are not allowed in this class. Front wheel drive cars ONLY! The Compact Stock Car class will follow all the rules of the Full-Size Stock Car class with the exception of the rules listed below.
1. TIRES: Only 13” and 14” tires or 15” “donuts” may be used.
2. Compact cars may not exceed 104” wheelbase as measured from center hub of front axle to center hub of rear axle. All cars are subject to approval of officials.
3. Engines are to be 4 or 6 cylinder only.
4. Driver door rules are the same as the full-size class.
5. You may weld the suspension solid.
6. AMC Pacers are not allowed in compact class. They may participate in the full-size class.
7. THREADED RODS: No more than 4” of the rod may be welded to the frame.
8. Front bumper may be from another American made compact car OR homemade with 2 x 4 x 3/16 box tubing. See bumper rules from full-size cars for additional information.
9. Frames from previous run derbys, can be patched by a 4” x ¼” thick long plate and no taller then the frame. Derby officials will inspect the frames thoroughly! May be plated on two sides and if the frame rail has more than one bend per rail they may both be fixed not being able to connect the two areas being fixed together.
10. Any vehicle that is from a previous derby, must meet all of the regulations and meet the approval of the officials before it will be allowed to run!
PREPARATION OF FULL-SIZE STOCK PICKUP TRUCKS
The pickup class will follow all of the rules of the Full-Size Stock Cars with the exception of the rules listed below.
1. Full-sized trucks are defined as half-ton, three-quarter-ton pickups or suburbans. No split rims or welded split rims are allowed.
2. All trucks must be stock. Four wheel drive trucks must have front-drive shaft removed.
3. Gas tank must be mounted in the front center of the box, secured by threaded rod and metal strapping. No ratchet straps or banding belts will be allowed. You may use chains, with at least 3/8” Bolts. Follow all other rules about gas tanks from the full size car rules.
4. For driver safety, the box must be mounted to the cab as follows: 2 bolts or threaded rods no larger than ¾” diameter through box and cab behind the seat. Plates on these bolts may be up to 4” square and up to ¼” thick. Pipe or angle iron must be bolted or welded to the top front edge of the box and back of the cab.
5. Box must be bolted down to the frame with no more than 8 bolts or threaded rods, no more than ¾” diameter, with washers on the frame and no larger than 4” square plates in the box. Side walls of the box may not be rolled in or “tucked” in any manner
6. Tailgates may be welded or chained in stock position with a maximum of 4 – 4” x 4” plates or 4 – 5/16” single loop chains single wrapped.
7. Passenger door may be chained with 2 – 5/16” chains not to exceed 24” in length or Welded with 3 – 4” x 4”x ¼” plates, per door seam.
8. Front bumper may be from another American made pickup OR homemade with 4 x 4 x ¼ box tubing. Must be no longer than the outside of the front fenders and Officials must be able to see all the way through the tube. Must have a bumper casing around it, in front. To hold the bumper to the frame, you MUST use a 2 x 2 x ¼ angle iron bolted or welded. Only 6” of welding allowed on frame for fastening brackets. No additional metal will be allowed!! THESE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED.
9. ***A four-point cage inside the cab consisting of a dash bar, a driver’s side door bar, passenger side door bar and a bar behind the seat is permitted. A rollover bar in the driver’s compartment is also strongly recommended. The rollover bar may not be attached or welded to the frame but may be attached to the cage. From dash bar you are allowed to run 2 down bars to frame not extending outside the cab. (one on drivers side and one on the passenger side).
10. You may run a maximum of 2 braces no larger that 2” x 2” x 1/4” angles or tubes from the top of the core support to the frame no farther back then the center of the front axle, but not to the fire wall. You may also run a 2” x 2” x 1/4” angle or tube along the top of the core support but it cannot extend beyond the width of the frame rails. This rule applies only in the pick-up classes, does not apply to cars.
11. Frames from previous run derbys, can be patched by a 4” x ¼” thick long plate and no taller then the frame. Derby officials will inspect the frames thoroughly! May be plated on two sides and if the frame rail has more than one bend per rail they may both be fixed not being able to connect the two areas being fixed together.
