66 fury y framer running a sbc, what is the best way to run power steering? the pressure hose looks do-able but the return hose is whats really got me, gm line i.d. is 3/8", the mopar line i.d. is significantly larger. the gm line will actually fit inside of the mopar line... lookin for the best option on what to do here as the original p/s pump is not available to use

you can strongarm a yframer steering box all day and not worry about anything internally breaking....now manuvering around a mid 60's yframer with no power steering isn't the most pleasant thing in the world but it is an easy option. i've done it and i'd do it again if i had to.

it is my buddies car, i was planning on either retaining stock ps pump and fabbing it onto the sbc since we are going to have to make brackets anyways, but sadly that was left on the engine that got hauled to scrap..... this is his first car and he is going to have alot going on to worry about, plus he isnt built very big, he needs the power steering lol. might get him a bigger steering whel if we cant find anything else to do....

I have never run power steering on any of my cars. I honestly dont notice that big of a difference. Only time you really need to "strong arm" it is when you are stuck and not moving. Even then its not too bad. If its to huge pain to put p/s in, I would just go without.

my buddy is about 125lbs soaking wet, its some trouble getting it around the yard some times. he has a 13" steeling wheel on it which doesnt help matters any. was just checkin to see if anyone knew of an easy way out of the predicament without buying a bunch of fittings and reducers and cobbling some lines together.

Put the smaller line inside the bigger line and take mig welder and run a bead around it. We do it on our fords and it works

Buy a hose barb that will adapt the the two rubber lines together, and double clamp it. I usually only single clamp stuff, but its up to you if you want to take that chance.

there is about a 1/2" difference in sizes between the two lol.
i stared at it pretty hard last night and im thinking buy a barb, cut it down to where it will reinforce the inside of the smaller gm line, then slider the larger chrysler line over the top with a sealant(silicon, jb weld, gas tank/oil pan sealer) and clamping it down.

return lines have no pressure on them, just make you a new line to go from pump to box

i know the returns have no pressure, there is literally a 1/2 of an inch difference in size on them, i think he's got it figured out now though, dropped off the 2 pressure lines in town to have the chrysler fitting clamped to the gm line.
