RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Fulton County Fair Demolition Derby is open to all men and women, 16 years of age or older who have a driver’s license. Contestants under the age of 18 must have a notarized permit signed by parent or guardian to participate. The following rules will apply and will be enforced. Any vehicle that does not meet these rules will be disqualified!
ENTRY FEE AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Each car/driver shall pay a $30.00 entry fee. All drivers, co-drivers, or anyone in the arena must sign a waiver releasing the Fulton County Fair Association, it=s board members, sponsors and any representative of the Fulton County Fair Association from any liability incurred during the derby. Everyone will be charged the gate fee when entering the fairgrounds. The gate fee for the Driver and Co-Driver will be refunded when they pay their entry fee and sign the waiver.
SHOW YOUR DRIVING SKILLS - NOT YOUR BUILDING SKILLS!
1. If you are pre-registered and your car is illegal, you lose your entry fee. There will be no vote-ins!
2. Cars : Old Iron or Late Model. There will no Imperials, no front wheel drive, no taxi cabs, no hearse, no ambulance, no 4-Wheel drive, or all wheel drive. The car must be an American-made passenger car.
3. Any engine and transmission accepted, rear end may be welded and rear end housing brace is allowed. Gears may be changed. No three quarter ton rear ends. The rear end has to be 5 lug.
4. Suspension: No airshocks – No reinforcing A arms or upper trailing arms. Trailing arms may NOT be boxed in or extended.
5. Conventional transmission coolers, or ice type coolers.
6. Gas tank and battery must be located on the inside of the car.
7. Gas tank cannot be larger than 8 gallons. Racing tanks, boat tanks, metal or plastic are ok. The tank has to be mounted securely inside the car.
8. One-half inch chain is the largest allowed. One wrap allowed per door, can be at post or through door. Hood and trunk can have two chains per panel. Hood chains may not be in front of radiator, one wrap per chain. Chain may wrap around bumper. Chain may have one single bolt through a link and through the bumper. A hole may be drilled in the bumper for this bolt. This will keep the bumper from falling off.
9. Bumpers and Bumper Height: Can have hard nose bumpers or leave shocks and run soft. They can be welded. Skin can be welded down. (No pointy Imperial or New Yorker bumpers allowed). Bumper height – fresh cars 21 inches to the lowest point of the bumper.
10. Factory fuel tanks must be removed.
11. Tires cannot be reinforced or liquid filled.
12. Windshield bar is mandatory and seat bar is mandatory. Four-point cage with rollover bar is optional. A bar can be attached from the middle of the rollover bar out and connect to the cowl bar. It cannot be connected to the roof line just bar to bar. Cowl and seat bar cannot be larger than a 4-inch x 4-inch, ¼ inch tube or pipe. The C channel cannot be larger than 6-inches wide and cannot go more than 8-inches past door. Plates for seat bar can be no larger than 12-inches x 12-inches, ¼-inches thick. No kickers off the cage.
13. Hood needs a 10-inch hole or over sized header holes for fire extinguisher.
14. NO TILTING FRONT or cold bending crush box.
15. All factory body bolts and factory body bushings must be in car except two on core support stock location. 2 ¾ all thread maximum allowed in core support at stock loaction.
16. PREBENDING ANY SHEET METAL AND NOTCHING REAR OF FRAME IS ALLOWED.
17. The only places that should have weld is the bumpers, drivers door (4-point cage, rollover bar, windshield bar), rear end, gears and if there is a motor swap.
18. The driver has two minutes to make a hit. If the car stalls, an aggressive hit must be made every minute. If someone is laying back, THE RACE WILL BE STOPPED AND THE CAR MARKED to let other drivers know there are drivers laying back.
19. No spray foam around the radiator.
20. One or two batteries are allowed, 12 volt or 24 volt. Batteries must be covered and secure.
21. No undercoating, mudding, greasing, dusting, or painting the frame.
22. No hitting in the driver’s door. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICKLY ENFORCED! Accidents do happen but there must be evidence of trying to avoid the collision. The driver’s door cannot be used as a shield.
23. ALL FEATURE WINNING CARS will be inspected by track officials. HOODS will be popped. If you are found illegal, you will be disqualified and all winners move up.
24. Distributor protectors are allowed. It must be attached to engine or transmission only. Backside must be no wider than 12-inches, must not contact cage before, during or after the event or you will be disqualified. If you run a DP do not mount your dash bar closer than 5-inches from the middle of the firewall. It may not be welded, bolted or connected to the body, hood or frame. No transmission protectors. No pulley protectors.
25. People will look at your car. If you don’t want people looking at your car, this derby is not for you!
26. NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS ALLOWED ON FAIRGROUNDS!!! Law enforcement will be present for the event.
27. THERE IS NO GRAY AREA TO THE RULES!!! The rules are not to be tested, just driving skills.
28. Drivers must wear seatbelts, helmet, and eye protection when operating the vehicle. Long pants and a shirt are mandatory. Fire suits are recommended.
29. Any car or cars catching on fire two times will be disqualified.
30. Drivers must remain in cars until race is over or directed to leave by the track officials.
31. All drivers must attend the driver’s meeting and should arrive at the Fairgrounds by 7:00 p.m. on the date of the derby.
32. No pit person is allowed in the arena.
33. No hot rodding allowed in the pit.
34. Derby officials do have the right to disqualify a car/driver at anytime. Any person causing trouble and not complying with the rules will be asked to leave. If person refuses to leave, law enforcements will be used for removal and can be banned from running or being in pit area at future events.
