DEMOLITION DERBY
Saturday: June 23rd, 2012
5:00 PM Northside Park, Thorp
Rain Date: Sunday NOON: June 24th, 2012
There will be three classes.
1. Open Class - all years eligible
2. 1980 and Newer Stock Class
3. Full size Truck Class
There will be a Driver of the day and maddog trophy
PITS WILL OPEN AT 1:00 PM; CARS & DRIVERS MUST BE IN PITS BY 3:30
3 cars will be accepted after 3:30 & before 4:00. Providing they pay an additional $25.00 per car entry fee.
After fully reading, all rules please direct any questions to Scott @715-669-3891 during business hours only, or Bill @ 715-828-8270 or 715-669-5535 evenings only. All decisions concerning the classification of vehicles, acceptability of vehicle modifications and non-standard equipment, driver conduct and the determination of finalists and winners are the sole responsibility of the event officials and judges.
Rules are posted on we/crash.proboard.com. Any changes or clarifications will be updated and posted before June 1st.
THE JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
Pit Passes: $15.00
Only cash will be accepted for Entry Fees and Pit Passes.
Event Rules
1. No-one allowed in pits without a Pit Pass.
2. All pit crew members must be at least 14 years old. People with pit passes must sign an insurance waiver.
3. Absolutely NO children will be allowed in pits.
4. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages in the pit area. Any possession of alcoholic beverages in the Pit area will result in loss of Pit Pass with norefund along with removal from the Pit Area.
5. Drivers must be 14 years old and a parental or legal guardian must sign a form in person or bring it notarized when registering.
6. All drivers are required to wear pants and shirts during competition. NO shorts are allowed for drivers. Approved safety helmets and seat belts are required. Eye protection, long sleeve shirts and fire protective clothing is recommended.
7. Thorp Lions Club reserves the right to approve, reject or re-inspect any and all entries at the e vent at any time. Mandatory re-inspection for all cars placing. Any alterations after inspections will be cause for disqualification.
8. NO using driver’s door as a shield.
9. Absolutely no hitting on the driver’s door will be permitted. Judge’s decision is Final . Any door that comes open during the event will result in
disqualification.
10. NO getting out of car or removing of helmet in car unless otherwise instructed by an official.
11. NO sandbagging or holding. You will get 1 warning and the second will result in disqualification. Will be taken seriously.
12. Rollovers may result in driver’s disqualification at the discretion of Lions Officials.
13. Any reckless driving in the pits will result in disqualification.
14. Any vehicle leaking fuel will be disqualified.
15. Thorp Lions Club will not be responsible for any vehicle or its components while on the grounds. These cars are the responsibility of the drivers and their owners. All cars left at the site the following day will be sold for junk for Lions Benefi t.
16. We may or may not run heats, depending upon number of cars.
17. Vehicle must have secured DOT approved seat belts. A 2.5 dry chemical fire extinguisher inside the car within the driver’s reach is highly
recommended.
18. Drivers and pit crew members MUST follow all stated rules. Any misconduct or breaking of rules by the driver or a member of his/her pit crew will result in disqualification. Any driver or pit crew member fighting, arguing, or demonstrating unsportsmanlike behavior will also be disqualified. NO drugs or alcohol in the pit area. Any driver or pit crew member believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol before or during the event will be disqualified and prohibited from participating in any future Thorp LION’S Events. Driver and pit crew members fees will NOT be returned in the event of disqualification.
19. NO Two-way radios to be used by drivers.
20. Questions, clarifications and rules for the derby will be covered at the Mandatory Driver’s Meeting.
21. Protest: $200.00 MUST accompany each protest and must be submitted within 3 minutes of completion of the feature event. Protest $$ must be in Chief official’s hands within 3 minutes of completion of the feature. (Feature drivers only may protest each other. NO Pit Crews or other driver may be involved.) If official finds the protested car to be illegal, the fee will be re turned to the protester and protested car & driver will be disqualified. If the person being protested is legal he will be given the protested money. Protester MUST apply to winners only and pertain to a RULE VIOLATION that, in the opinion of the officials, gives the car an advantage. ALL winning cars are under OFFICIAL PROTEST by the Thorp Lions Club officials prior to awarding any prize money. • Lions Chief Official has final decision over any interpretation of the rules and regulations.
22. Entry fees to be paid before inspection. Failure to pass inspection will result in forfeiture of entry fee. After initial inspection you will be allowed 1 re-inspection. Failure of 2nd inspection will result in disqualification.
23. Lion’s Officials and Flagman’s judgment is FINAL. This derby will be inspected fairly and cheating will result in disqualification.
Rules for all cars
Judges and Inspectors decisions are final
1. Car Stripping
A. All glass, outside hardware, etc. must be removed, NO glass left in doors.
B. NO flammable materials such as carpet, upholstery, or headliners to be left in cars. Judges discretion.
2. Car Preparation
A. Front seat must be securely mounted (not reinforced or bolted to frame).
B. Must have seat belts.
C. Must have operating brakes.
D. NO adding of weight or reinforcing, unless specified.
E. NO buffing, grinding, undercoating, or painting of frames.
F. All objects attached to the outside of car must be securely fastened and meet judges approval.
G. Cars can be decorated in any manner in good taste. NO obscene or offensive materials will be allowed.
H. Driver’s door must be left clear for numbering. Or if you provide number it must be on driver’s d oor and legible.
I. Patching holes is for safety, NO reinforcement , the only holes you will be allowed to fix are where you put your feet, battery or gas tank. Sheet metal only 2” past
rust. There will be no other body or frame patching.
J. Two vertical steel bars MUST be run from the roof of the car to the body (not the hood) in front of the driver. Nylon racing typ e window nets are strongly
recommended. MUST be able to remove quickly in case of emergency. We DO NOT recommend you to cover driver’s window with steel or mesh type
material. If used, may be fastened in 4 spots with no more than 3/8” rod.
K. Wagon tailgate must be in factory position or removed. Floor door to be removed.
L. You must run a hood, hood to be in near original position with minimal space between it and cowl, and have a min. of 10” hole over air cleaner or if exhaust not run
through hood, holes in hood may be stitched with max. (Cool 3/8” bolts per opening.
M. Trunk lid quarter panels must remain in stock location. Folding them over onto the trunk lid is n ot allowed. Tail light panel must not be beat down to cause ramp
effect. Only trunk lid can be modified and it must remain 50% in stock location.
N. Transmission coolers are acceptable. Cooler may be mounted inside of car. All lines traveling ins ide of driver’s compartment must be metal lines or high pressure
hydraulic lines, and run thru some form of another hose. Maximum total size of cooler 24”x24”x18” in cluding mounts.
O. Battery must be mounted in front seat and be secured, fastened and covered.
P. Radiators must be left in original position or taken out. NO auxiliary engine coolers, NO anti-freeze. Nylon straps, steel bands, chain or wire may only be used to
support radiator.
R. Trailer hitch must be completely removed.
S. NO welding of chain links to form a bar.
3. Gas and Gas Tanks
A. 5 gallon fuel cell highly recommended.
B. Original gas tanks must be removed. Gas tanks must be metal, secured and located on the floor in the back seat area. Gas line may not run under car. Gas tank must
be covered. NOTE: Class exemption.
C. Pump fuel only. NO alcohol, menthol, or diesel.
D. Cars are restricted to a max. of 6 gallons of gas per event.
E. All gas in pit area must be in a red container. Gas spillage may result in disqualification.
F. Electric fuel pumps must have a clearly marked shut-off switch accessible by driver.
G. Drain holes to be drilled around tank.
4. Tires - (max. height for classes)
A. NO wheel weights, double or split rims.
B. NO studded tires.
C. Valve stem guards are permitted. Must be securely mounted.
D. Tires may not be fastened to rims with screws, rivets or bead locks

Derby car entry fee: $80.00, Cash Only, includes drivers pit pass
Pre run special - half price entry fee (car must show significant damage)

$800.00 - 3rd place and trophy
General: Any year American made car - NO Imperials, Imperial sub frames, Hearses, or similar type vehicles allowed.
Body: NO WELDING OF INTERIOR SEAMS! Wheel wells may be cut up to 3” maximum to allow for tire clearance. Folded wheel well lip in 1” intervals- you may use bolts NO welding maximum of 8 – 3/8” bolts per wheel well. Sunroofs must be filled with a security fastened sheet. Front lower fender may be cut or folded to allow tire clearance – you may use bolts 2 bolts maximum NO welding. Rubber body mounts may be removed, Body bolts may be replaced with stock or up to 5/8” maximum bolts may be lengthened to travel through TOP HALF of frame and inside vehicle ONLY, with nuts 3” washers. Only the interior 3” washers (not nuts also) may be welded to inside of vehicle. Equal size flat stock drilled out, as washer is acceptable. NO ADDITIONAL BODY BOLTS MAY BE ADDED ANYWHERE! Rust spots may not be fixed.
Hood: Hood may be secured in 6 spots by bolts, chains, or #9 wire, chain or wire Hood hinges count as 2 secured points. Bolts or threaded rod may not exceed 1” in diameter and not to extend 4” above hood and a maximum length of 30” total. ONLY (2) bolts or threaded rod may be connected to frame. All threaded rod must run vertical from frame to hood NO bending will be permitted. If NOT running threaded frame rod through the front core support mounts you may have up to 1” X 10” long bolts and no more than 2 washers and 2 nuts in core support mounts. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6” X 6” in diameter and 1/2 “ thick Chain or wiring may not attach to the frame but can attach to the bumper through the upper core support and hood. Chain or wire may not exceed 36” in length and no more than three loops. Secure your hood only AFTER your car passes tech inspection. NO chains or wire around frame.
Trunk and Tailgate: Must have 12” by 12” access hole. Trunks may be tucked up to 50% but NO wedging. Secured maximum of 4 spots with 1” max rod, 36” of chain or 3 loops of #9 wire, chain or wire. Only 2 may go to frame must be vertical. 6 by 6 maximum top plates. In lieu of bolts ect. you may weld 6 4” by 4” by ¼” plates of steel. Wagons tailgates may weld 2 4 by 4 plates per vertical seam.
Sedagans are allowed but you may NOT chain or bolt roof down in any way MUST remain free. Taillight panel MUST remain vertical.
Doors: All doors MUST be chained closed. The driver’s door may be welded completely closed. Driver’s door may be closed ONLY with a steel rod 3/8” thick or less or 3” metal Band 1/4” thick and may be welded solid. NO welding on inside of doors. All remaining doors may be chained up to (2 chains #9 wire or cable may be used) chain or wire NOT to exceed more than 3 loops, or may be welded with up to (2) plates of steel no larger than 4X4X1/4” thick per each vertical door seam. If you go overboard you will be asked to cut your welds.
Bars and Cages: Dash & seat bars are required, must be horizontal, straight, not contoured (max. of 6” diameter) max. of 8” x 8” end plates. Dash bar must be a minium of 8” from distributor protector and be above factory steering column bracket. Seat bar max. of 6” behind seat.
Door bars max. of 6” wide, no more than 60” long. No more than 18” behind center post on four doors, and 10” on two doors. Drivers door bar can be interior or external. Seat bar maybe chained to nearest body mount on each end, not crossed. Roll over bars are permitted but must remain vertical, may not support any part of car, except 2 – 3/8” bolts with 3” washers may attach to roof. Roll over bar may only be fastened to cage only.
Bumpers: Bumpers may be ANY year and ANY MAKE automotive type bumper or you may use a homemade steel tube style bumper 4’X4’X1/4” steel square tube as bumper, it may extend maximum of 10” outside of each frame horn. You may not stuff inside and must not cap either end of tube. DEC replacement bumper is acceptable in its stock configuration. All mounting brackets mounting to the back of the bumper, or frame, or shocks may be welded to secure firmly, but NO adding any steel. NO welding bumpers to the body. Shocks may be drained before welding. NO extra added steel to inside of bumpers or inside bumper shocks. Welding of bumper seams is allowed, no adding of metal. A single strand of chain may be used as a retaining chain. NO wrapping around bumper. Bumpers may be trimmed. Folding ends are permitted; NO bolting or welding folded ends. Maxim bumper height is 22” from ground to bottom of bumper. Bumpers may be turned upside down or front to back. Washers may be welded over the holes cut or drilled out in bumper for chaining or wiring purposes (3” maxim washers).
Interior: With the exception of floor shifters, ALL large holes in floor pans must be patched with sheet metal. Holes may be cut in the firewall to allow distributor cap or other components to move beyond the firewall. Any holes cut into the firewall for this purpose strongly recommended to be covered with a non-flammable or rubber material. Driver’s seat and DOT approved seatbelts.
Chassis: Frame must be from same make and model vehicle with similar frame to body bolt pattern. Example – Impala to Impala, Crown Victoria to Crown Victoria and etc! Vehicle MUST have factory stock, upper and lower core supports – No seam welding on core supports. (NO FILLING FRAME WITH ANY TYPE OF MATERIAL). Frame welding you may weld front to rear top seam ONLY NO more than ½” wide bead NO adding any metal. NO laser cutting the frame, sand blasting, or painting will be allowed. Welding on or to the frame is indicated in specific cases throughout the rules. You may pre-bend your frame, cut and pitch frame and weld cut area but NOT to add any extra steel to the area that’s been cut, or you may notch the frame. No welding frame to body.Cars may weld 1 plate of steel across rear hump on the outside of the frame not to exceed NO larger than 3” wide and 16” in length and NO thicker than ¼” plate steel may be used. Plates may be welded on all four sides on one side of the plate only. Plates MUST remain rectangular shape NO cutting or modifying plates to fit the frame. Cars may weld 1 plate of steel in front end at the weakest point on the OUTSIDE of frame ONLY, NOT TOP, BOTTOM, OR INSIDE not to exceed NO larger than 3” wide and 16” in length and NO thicker than ¼” plate steel may be used. Plates may be welded on all four sides. Plates must remain in one rectangular piece, may NOT cut and be located in two places. You MAY bend your plates. Stubbing is allowed minimum of 18” behind the body bolt by crush box. You may use a 1” metal band around cut area and may be welded no other reinforcement will be allowed. You may NOT move the front body mount. All body mounts MUST remain in stock location. 2003 & newer Fords may replace aluminum cradles with one from an older style, NO after market cradles. NO metal is to be added. You may replace or modify knuckles and/or joints in steering assembly. You may reinforce tie rods with angle iron or rod iron. NO sandblasting, painting, or undercoating any part of frame.
Rear Suspension: Bumper height maximum 22” from ground to bottom of bumper and it is strictly enforced. You may replace broken leaf springs. You may only run factory leafs NO additional leafs will be permitted. Leaf springs MUST have factory spec type stager. Cars with leaf springs you may use 4 clamps, wire, or metal strapping around each set of leaf springs per sides. NO welding of leaf springs. NO duct taping of spring until after inspection. Coil springs may be changed but bumper height must remain 22” or less. SPRING SPACERS will be allowed BUT MUST BE SAFE. Official’s decision will determine safety. You may weld or bolt A-frame not both, NO after market a-frames. You may run 2 small chains, cable, wire, or 2 additional body mounts in rear of sedans or wagons to support rear humps. Do NOT exceed 3 loops. Chain, cable or wire may be secured axle to frame only, or to coils. You may chain or cable rear humps to axle Chain or cable may NOT exceed NO more than 36” in length you may reinforce rear upper & lower control arms. Aftermarket or homemade control arms will be allowed MUST be able to resemble the stock control arms NO going over board.
Engine: You may swap motors. (NO Diesel’s) Firewall may be beat back or cut out for distributor clearance. You may beat back engine side of fire wall ONLY, do NOT weld or bolt firewall. Do NOT reinforce the firewall. Do NOT modify the driver’s side of firewall in any way. DISTRIBUTOR & CARBURATOR PROTECTORS WILL BE PERMITTED, but must remain a minimum of 8” away from dash bar!!!! Engine cradles are permitted BUT MUST ONLY be used to cradle the engine block MUST NOT come in contact with any other part of engine. Engine pulley protectors, and carburetor protectors are allowed Motor may be chained to frame and motor mounts may be altered and strengthened provide this does NOT strengthen the frame or other non-related mounting components. Carburetor must have an air filter. NO ether. Hand throttles are acceptable. Headers and stacks are permitted. Must be completely vertical you may run a bar header to header for support.
Radiator: Radiator MUST be located in stock position. You may use Radi-barrels or other homemade type radiator. Radiator protectors are allowed, steel mesh or similar material may be used NO larger than stock radiator size. Radiator protection may attach to the frame core support only, max. 4 – 3/8” bolts, no excessive metal. Core support may be secured by replacing factory bolts to frame with maximum 1” diameter x 10” long bolts. You may NOT reinforce or add any metal to core support other than washers and tabs for hood securing purposes. Nylon straps, bolts, steel bands, chain or wire may only be used to support radiator. Water only! Please flush out coolant. You must run a hood.
Electrical: 2 (two) twelve volt or heavy equipment batteries are permitted. Batteries MUST be located inside of car on passenger’s front floor, and MUST be securely mounted with a (4) point hold down on each and both MUST be covered. Batteries and boxes MUST be secured. Push button or toggle ignition and power hotwiring switches are acceptable. Solenoid, voltage regulators, coils and other electrical components may be relocated. Components may be enclosed, but not in such a way as to strengthen the car. All fuses must be removed except for the gauges charging the ignition system and electric radiator fan.
Transmission: Transmission coolers are acceptable in any class. Cooler may be mounted inside of car but MUST be NO larger than 24” x 24” x 18” this means that the complete unit including box around cooler NOT to exceed these dimensions. ALL LINES TRAVELING INSIDE OF DRIVERS COMPARTMENT, MUST USE METAL LINES OR HIGH PRESSURE HYDROLIC LINES, AND RUN THROUGH SOME FORM, OF ANOTHER HOSE. If it does not pass inspection you will be asked to loop it off. Shifting linkage may be altered, but cannot pose any kind of safety risk to the driver. Transmission mounts may be altered providing this does NOT strengthen frame.
Gas Tank: Six-gallon fuel cell highly recommended. Original gas tank MUST be removed you may NOT use original fuel tank inside car NO exceptions! Tank MUST be replaced behind the front seat in the middle of the car. Strongly recommended to mount your gas tank to your rear seat bar but you MAY NOT run any kickers. Sedans ONLY, are allowed a gas tank protector, NO larger than 6” bars and NO WIDER THAN 24”, may rest against back seat panel but MAY NOT be attached to any part of the car, MUST run straight back to seat panel NOT in a V shape. NO kickers, and MUST be only in the center of the car. Tanks may be no larger than 6 gallon and MUST be metal and NO plastic or stock fuel tanks will be allowed, NO exceptions. Marine style gas tanks are acceptable. NO plastic or jerry cans. Tanks MUST be securely mounted and all connections must be secure and leak-proof. Stop check valves are highly recommended. All fuel lines MUST run inside car. Gas tanks must be completely covered. Tanks must be mounted separate from cover. Holes must be drilled under and around the tank cover in case of gas spillage occurs. Gas spillage WILL result in disqualification! Pump fuel only (NO Alcohol or methanol). Rubber fuel line highly recommended from gas tank to fuel pump. Electric Fuel pumps are acceptable but MUST have shut off switch within drivers Reach and clearly marked for fire officials. NO plastic lines.
Rear Differentials: 5 or 8 Lug maximum rear ends will be permitted. ¾ ton or floater rear ends will be permitted, BUT MUST NOT be reinforced in any way. Locked or welded is permitted. Gears are permitted.
Brakes: Brakes MUST be functional in the start of every heat or feature.
Tires and Rims: Any ply. 14’, 15’, & 16”tires are permitted maximum inch allowance of 30”, 10” width. Double tires (tire-inside-tire), rubber inner-liners or solid rubber tires are acceptable. NO studded tires. NO wheel weights, double rims or split rims.
1980 & newer pure stock class Rules & regulations

Any American made car considered 1980 & newer 2 or 4 door hardtop cars or station wagons. NO 4WD, jeeps, carryalls, camaros, firebirds, or elcominos allowed.
BODY: NO welding of any sort will be allowed. Wheel wells may be cut up to 3” maximum to allow for tire clearance but NO bolting or welding will be allowed. Front lower fender may be trimmed or folded to allow tire clearance but NO welding or bolting will be allowed. Body bolts and mounts must be factory you may NOT change them or replace the body mounts. Additional body mounts may NOT be added anywhere.
HOOD: Hood MUST have 10” – 12” hole on either side of air cleaner if the exhaust is not run through the hood. Hood maybe secured in 4 spots by chain, cable, or #9 wire NO more than 3 loops. Hood hinges count as 2 connections. You may run chain around the front core support or around your bumper may NOT attach to the frame. Chain not to exceed 48” in length and NO more than two loops, secure your hood ONLY after your car passes tech inspection.
TRUNK & TAILGATE: Trunk must be empty and free of dirt and debris. Trunk must be secured with chain. Trunk may be secured in 4 spots with chain, cable or #9 wire only No more than 3 loops. Trunk hinges count as 2. Chains NOT to exceed 48” in length, and NOT wrap around more than two loops NO chain around frame.
DOORS: All doors must be chained closed. You may use 2 chains, cable, or #9 wire on driver’s door only and 1 chain, cable, or #9 wire on all remaining doors and may ONLY be wrapped around door posts three loops maximum. You may install an interior or exterior driver’s door bar NOT both may ONLY exceed 4” past door seam, max 6” wide and only up to 3/8 thick, for safety purpose only.
WINDOWS: Two vertical steel bars or chain must be run from roof to the car body (not the hood) in front of the driver. NO #9 wire in any windows.
BUMPERS: Bumpers MUST be 1980 & newer (be prepared to prove this if using uncommon bumper.) NO exchanging bumpers or switching around. Bumpers may be welded to brackets, and bracket to frame, NO welding of bumpers directly to frame. Impact shocks may be welded. NO other areas will be accepted. NO adding any extra steel. Maximum bumper height is 22” from ground to bottom of bumper. You may use short piece of chain or wire to retain bumper, cannot be welded anywhere, it cannot be wrapped around bumper.
INTERIOR: With exceptions of floor shifters, all large holes in floor pans must be patched with sheet metal. Holes in fire wall will be permitted for distributor clearance. Any holes cut into firewall MUST be protected with a non flammable type material. Driver’s seat and DOT approved seatbelts MUST be securely mounted.
CHASSIS: Frame may NOT be strengthened in any way (NO filling frame with any type of material and or NO frame seam welding will be permitted). You may NOT weld any plates to the front or rear of the frame in this class. It is strongly recommended that you do run an interior or exterior drivers side door bar for safety. Horizontal bar may be put behind drivers seat MUST remain 18” from floor. It MUST be between 3” – 6” in diameter, MUST be hollow and NOT more than 18” above floor boards. It MUST be securely welded, bolted, chained or wired to inside of car, to door or door posts only and NOT have plates bigger than 6”X6” on ends. NO dash bars permitted in this class. You may only use stock steering columns in this class. You may NOT reinforce any of your steering components or alter in any way. NO sandblasting, undercoating, or painting of the frame will be allowed. Trailer hitches and brackets MUST be removed. YOU MAYNOT PITCH FRAME ON THE FRONT OF ANYCAR IN THE STOCK CLASS, WE WILL BE CHECKING WITH THE SCOPE!!!!YOU MAY COLDBEND FRAME
REAR END & SUSPENTION: Shocks and suspension must NOT be altered in any way. NO increasing the height of vehicle from its factory height. Bumper maximum height is 22” from ground to bumper. Secured spring spacers may be used and coil springs may be tack welded. Stock rear ends ONLY NO gear changes. You may Weld your rear end gears. You MUST have a stock 80 & newer rear end in your car NO exceptions will be allowed MUST be make for make. NO slider drive shaft or custom shafts will be allowed. You may customize if you run a Chevy Transmission to a ford rear end etc.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION: You may swap motors and transmissions in this class but they must remain stock spec’s NO built motors will be permitted in this class. Any intake and carburetor will be allowed to run. Chief Official will disqualify car if it seems to have a built motor in it. Motor claim rule in stock class only: Any driver finishing in the top 5 in the feature may request to claim anyone else’s motor that finished in top 5.
Claimee to keep pipes, intake, carburetor and starter.
Claim fee of $400.00 or claimee’s option of excepting $200.00 and exchanging motors. First driver to make request for claim to head official within 3 minutes of conclusion of feature will be honored.
One claim total for feature. Refusal by claimee will result in forfeit of all prize money and trophy.
All money and motor exchange to be handled and overseen by head official.
You may weld your motor mounts, or chain motor but MUST be within 5” of original place. Carburetor must have air cleaner. NO ether. Hand throttles are permitted. Must use stock transmission mounts and cross member. Transmission coolers are allowed. Transmission cooler MUST be NO larger than 24X24X18 or you may loop off your lines. Headers are allowed but MUST remain vertical.
RADIATOR: Must be a stock radiator NO radi-barrels or protectors will be permitted. You MUST drain anti-freeze out and run with water ONLY.
FAN: If you run a radiator fan you MUST run with a hood.
BRAKES: MUST be functional in the start of every heat or feature.
TIRES & RIMS: MUST be of factory size. You may run tire in tire. Fork lift tires will be permitted. You may use tubes.
OFFICIALS DECISIONS: Are final. If it’s NOT in the rules it’s NOT legal. Any car considered dangerous or illegal will be rejected.

FULL SIZE TRUCKS & SUBURBANS:
½ ton ¾ and 1 ton 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive pick-up trucks or suburbans. If using a 4 wheel drive truck you MUST remove front wheel drive shaft to compete. Extended & crew cab trucks allowed. NO dually trucks.
STRIPPING:
Remove all glass, a metal screen must be securely fastened in place of windshield in front of the drivers view, a windshield brace also MUST be added, extending from firewall to the roof and securely fastened to both ends. Remove all outside chrome and trim pieces. Remove all flammable materials from the interior, except the driver’s seat. All loose material MUST be removed from the truck (i.e. plastic, glass, etc.)
DOORS & CAB:
Drivers and passenger doors may be welded solid maximum of 1/8” thick by 3” wide, or you may use chains, cables, or bolts with no more than 36” of chain and no more than 3 bolts per door. You may run a dash bar, back seat bar, and door bars. The bars can be no larger than 6”x6”. The cage MUST have a safety chain or be bolted to secure it through the floor to the frame for safety. A padded head rest may be used. Rear window area behind drivers seat MUST have either a cross brace or a mesh type material (Expanded Steel would be best). ROLLOVER BARS ARE PERMITTED BUT MUST remain vertical ONLY.
HOODS:
MUST be bolted with no less than 3/8” and no more than 1”, or chained with chains not to exceed 3 feet in length with 1” links and no welding, but not both. NO more than 6 bolts may be used in the hood with plates not to exceed 6”x6” square diameter and no more than ½” thick. NO more than 6 nuts per bolt or threaded rod. Hood hinges count as 2 secured points. Bolts or threaded rod may not exceed 1” in diameter and not to extend 6” above hood and a maximum length of 30” total. ONLY 2 bolts or threaded rod may be connected to the frame. Front two bolts or threaded rods may be welded to frame but not the exceed weld of 6” only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rod must run vertical from frame to hood. NO bending around frame will be permitted. All hoods must have 15” square fire hole. You must have an air cleaner or carburetor.
TRUCK BOXES:
All pick-up boxes must be the original equipment style. NO HOME MADE BOXES! Pick-up boxes may have an additional 4 bolts per side to help safely secure the pick-up box to the frame; may use up to ¾ bolts with 6”x6”x1/2” plates max. You MAY run two pieces of flat stock across the front and rear of the truck box BUT MUST NOT BE ANY LARGER THAN 24”X48” AND NO THICKER THAN ½”. Tailgates may be welded solid flat stock steel maximum of 1/8” think by 3” wide. Or you may use bolts, chain or cable to secure the tailgate. Boxes may be welded to cab, flat stock steel maximum of 1/8” thick by 7” wide. NO tucking or wedged boxes and NO sedagons.
BUMPERS:
Max bumper height of 30”. NO aftermarket step bumpers. Bumpers may be ANY year and ANY MAKE automotive type bumper or you may use a homemade steel tube style bumper 4’x4’x1/4” steel square tube as a bumper, it may only extend a maximum of 10” outside of the frame. You may not stuff inside and MUST NOT cap either end of the tube. If you run without a rear bumper you may weld a steel brace between frame rails NOT to exceed any larger than 4”x4” and NOT to extend out any further than rails. Trailer hitches MUST be removed. Bumper and brackets may be welded but NO more than 8” from front of frame back. All cut edges MUST have rolled around edges. Chains may also be used. NO reinforcing and no excessive welding. Bumpers may be removed. NO added metal frame rail to frame rail.
SUSPENSION AND STEERING:
NO DUCT TAPING OF LEAF SPRINGS BEFORE TRUCKS ARE INSPECTED. NO welding of leaf springs. Max of 12 1 ton factory size leaf springs per set and up to 4 clamps per set. A arms my be welded down to the frame and reinforced. You may reinforce or make your own tie rods and steering shaft.
ENGINE:
You may run any motor transmission combination. Firewall may be beat back or cut out for distributer clearance but no welding or bolting of firewall. Distributer protectors are permitted but can’t be welded or bolted to the firewall. They also may not touch the dash bar before or after. Engine cradles are permitted. Motor may be chained to the frame and motor mounts may be altered and strengthened providing this does not strengthen the frame or other non-related mounting components. You may run hand throttles. Headers and stacks are permitted.
TRANSMISSION:
Transmission coolers are acceptable. Cool may be mounted inside the cab. Cooler lines that run through the cab must be steel or high pressure hydraulic lines. If it does not pass inspection you will be asked to loop it off. Shifting linkage may be altered, but can’t appose any kind of safety risk to the driver. Transmission mounts may be altered providing it does not strengthen the frame.
RADIATOR:
Due to EPA regulations, NO ANTI-FREEZE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE RADIATIORS-WATER ONLY ALLOWED.
(PLEASE FLUSH BEFORE YOU ARRIVE) NO truck will be allowed to participate with radiator relocated. You may run Radi-Barrels or other homemade radiators as long as they are in stock position. Radiator protectors such as wire mesh or similar may be used. Radi-Barrels may be welded to the frame and you may add 1 kicker per side. 2x2 angle iron ¼” thick 24” long max or 4” flat iron ¼” thick by 24” long max. No more than 6” of angle iron or flat strap can be welded to the frame.
BATTERIES:
All batteries MUST be moved inside the truck to the passenger floor area. Batteries MUST be in some kind of box and must be bolted to the floor with a 4 point hold down system and MUST be covered for the safety of the driver. Cover MUST be securely fastened.
GAS TANK:
The stock gas tank must be removed. A metal state approved boat gas tank or fuel cell (6 gallon maximum capacity) fuel tank MUST be securely fastened and mounted in the center of the bed near the cab. Metal straps, chain, or ratchet strap to securely fasten the tank to the bed. The metal gas tank MUST be covered. Electric fuel pumps MUST have an emergency shut off and must be highly noticeable and marked. Pump fuel ONLY used NO alcohol.
SEATBELTS:
All trucks must be equipped with a seatbelt.
TIRES & RIMS:
NO split rims allowed on trucks. All wheel weights must be removed from rims. Truck tires are NOT to exceed 10” wide. All lugs must be trimmed off prior to show and must meet official’s approval.

There will be three classes.
1. Open Class - all years eligible
2. 1980 and Newer Stock Class
3. Full size Truck Class
There will be a Driver of the day and maddog trophy
PITS WILL OPEN AT 1:00 PM; CARS & DRIVERS MUST BE IN PITS BY 3:30
3 cars will be accepted after 3:30 & before 4:00. Providing they pay an additional $25.00 per car entry fee.

All decisions concerning the classification of vehicles, acceptability of vehicle modifications and non-standard equipment, driver conduct and the determination of finalists and winners are the sole responsibility of the event officials and judges.
Rules are posted on we/crash.proboard.com. Any changes or clarifications will be updated and posted before June 1st.
THE JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
Pit Passes: $15.00
Only cash will be accepted for Entry Fees and Pit Passes.
Event Rules
1. No-one allowed in pits without a Pit Pass.
2. All pit crew members must be at least 14 years old. People with pit passes must sign an insurance waiver.
3. Absolutely NO children will be allowed in pits.
4. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages in the pit area. Any possession of alcoholic beverages in the Pit area will result in loss of Pit Pass with norefund along with removal from the Pit Area.
5. Drivers must be 14 years old and a parental or legal guardian must sign a form in person or bring it notarized when registering.
6. All drivers are required to wear pants and shirts during competition. NO shorts are allowed for drivers. Approved safety helmets and seat belts are required. Eye protection, long sleeve shirts and fire protective clothing is recommended.
7. Thorp Lions Club reserves the right to approve, reject or re-inspect any and all entries at the e vent at any time. Mandatory re-inspection for all cars placing. Any alterations after inspections will be cause for disqualification.
8. NO using driver’s door as a shield.
9. Absolutely no hitting on the driver’s door will be permitted. Judge’s decision is Final . Any door that comes open during the event will result in
disqualification.
10. NO getting out of car or removing of helmet in car unless otherwise instructed by an official.
11. NO sandbagging or holding. You will get 1 warning and the second will result in disqualification. Will be taken seriously.
12. Rollovers may result in driver’s disqualification at the discretion of Lions Officials.
13. Any reckless driving in the pits will result in disqualification.
14. Any vehicle leaking fuel will be disqualified.
15. Thorp Lions Club will not be responsible for any vehicle or its components while on the grounds. These cars are the responsibility of the drivers and their owners. All cars left at the site the following day will be sold for junk for Lions Benefi t.
16. We may or may not run heats, depending upon number of cars.
17. Vehicle must have secured DOT approved seat belts. A 2.5 dry chemical fire extinguisher inside the car within the driver’s reach is highly
recommended.
18. Drivers and pit crew members MUST follow all stated rules. Any misconduct or breaking of rules by the driver or a member of his/her pit crew will result in disqualification. Any driver or pit crew member fighting, arguing, or demonstrating unsportsmanlike behavior will also be disqualified. NO drugs or alcohol in the pit area. Any driver or pit crew member believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol before or during the event will be disqualified and prohibited from participating in any future Thorp LION’S Events. Driver and pit crew members fees will NOT be returned in the event of disqualification.
19. NO Two-way radios to be used by drivers.
20. Questions, clarifications and rules for the derby will be covered at the Mandatory Driver’s Meeting.
21. Protest: $200.00 MUST accompany each protest and must be submitted within 3 minutes of completion of the feature event. Protest $$ must be in Chief official’s hands within 3 minutes of completion of the feature. (Feature drivers only may protest each other. NO Pit Crews or other driver may be involved.) If official finds the protested car to be illegal, the fee will be re turned to the protester and protested car & driver will be disqualified. If the person being protested is legal he will be given the protested money. Protester MUST apply to winners only and pertain to a RULE VIOLATION that, in the opinion of the officials, gives the car an advantage. ALL winning cars are under OFFICIAL PROTEST by the Thorp Lions Club officials prior to awarding any prize money. • Lions Chief Official has final decision over any interpretation of the rules and regulations.
22. Entry fees to be paid before inspection. Failure to pass inspection will result in forfeiture of entry fee. After initial inspection you will be allowed 1 re-inspection. Failure of 2nd inspection will result in disqualification.
23. Lion’s Officials and Flagman’s judgment is FINAL. This derby will be inspected fairly and cheating will result in disqualification.
Rules for all cars
Judges and Inspectors decisions are final
1. Car Stripping
A. All glass, outside hardware, etc. must be removed, NO glass left in doors.
B. NO flammable materials such as carpet, upholstery, or headliners to be left in cars. Judges discretion.
2. Car Preparation
A. Front seat must be securely mounted (not reinforced or bolted to frame).
B. Must have seat belts.
C. Must have operating brakes.
D. NO adding of weight or reinforcing, unless specified.
E. NO buffing, grinding, undercoating, or painting of frames.
F. All objects attached to the outside of car must be securely fastened and meet judges approval.
G. Cars can be decorated in any manner in good taste. NO obscene or offensive materials will be allowed.
H. Driver’s door must be left clear for numbering. Or if you provide number it must be on driver’s d oor and legible.
I. Patching holes is for safety, NO reinforcement , the only holes you will be allowed to fix are where you put your feet, battery or gas tank. Sheet metal only 2” past
rust. There will be no other body or frame patching.
J. Two vertical steel bars MUST be run from the roof of the car to the body (not the hood) in front of the driver. Nylon racing typ e window nets are strongly
recommended. MUST be able to remove quickly in case of emergency. We DO NOT recommend you to cover driver’s window with steel or mesh type
material. If used, may be fastened in 4 spots with no more than 3/8” rod.
K. Wagon tailgate must be in factory position or removed. Floor door to be removed.
L. You must run a hood, hood to be in near original position with minimal space between it and cowl, and have a min. of 10” hole over air cleaner or if exhaust not run
through hood, holes in hood may be stitched with max. (Cool 3/8” bolts per opening.
M. Trunk lid quarter panels must remain in stock location. Folding them over onto the trunk lid is n ot allowed. Tail light panel must not be beat down to cause ramp
effect. Only trunk lid can be modified and it must remain 50% in stock location.
N. Transmission coolers are acceptable. Cooler may be mounted inside of car. All lines traveling ins ide of driver’s compartment must be metal lines or high pressure
hydraulic lines, and run thru some form of another hose. Maximum total size of cooler 24”x24”x18” in cluding mounts.
O. Battery must be mounted in front seat and be secured, fastened and covered.
P. Radiators must be left in original position or taken out. NO auxiliary engine coolers, NO anti-freeze. Nylon straps, steel bands, chain or wire may only be used to
support radiator.
R. Trailer hitch must be completely removed.
S. NO welding of chain links to form a bar.
3. Gas and Gas Tanks
A. 5 gallon fuel cell highly recommended.
B. Original gas tanks must be removed. Gas tanks must be metal, secured and located on the floor in the back seat area. Gas line may not run under car. Gas tank must
be covered. NOTE: Class exemption.
C. Pump fuel only. NO alcohol, menthol, or diesel.
D. Cars are restricted to a max. of 6 gallons of gas per event.
E. All gas in pit area must be in a red container. Gas spillage may result in disqualification.
F. Electric fuel pumps must have a clearly marked shut-off switch accessible by driver.
G. Drain holes to be drilled around tank.
4. Tires - (max. height for classes)
A. NO wheel weights, double or split rims.
B. NO studded tires.
C. Valve stem guards are permitted. Must be securely mounted.
D. Tires may not be fastened to rims with screws, rivets or bead locks

General: Any year American made car - NO Imperials, Imperial sub frames, Hearses, or similar type vehicles allowed.
Body: NO WELDING OF INTERIOR SEAMS! Wheel wells may be cut up to 3” maximum to allow for tire clearance. Folded wheel well lip in 1” intervals- you may use bolts NO welding maximum of 8 – 3/8” bolts per wheel well. Sunroofs must be filled with a security fastened sheet. Front lower fender may be cut or folded to allow tire clearance – you may use bolts 2 bolts maximum NO welding. Rubber body mounts may be removed, Body bolts may be replaced with stock or up to 5/8” maximum bolts may be lengthened to travel through TOP HALF of frame and inside vehicle ONLY, with nuts 3” washers. Only the interior 3” washers (not nuts also) may be welded to inside of vehicle. Equal size flat stock drilled out, as washer is acceptable. NO ADDITIONAL BODY BOLTS MAY BE ADDED ANYWHERE! Rust spots may not be fixed.
Hood: Hood may be secured in 6 spots by bolts, chains, or #9 wire, chain or wire Hood hinges count as 2 secured points. Bolts or threaded rod may not exceed 1” in diameter and not to extend 4” above hood and a maximum length of 30” total. ONLY (2) bolts or threaded rod may be connected to frame. All threaded rod must run vertical from frame to hood NO bending will be permitted. If NOT running threaded frame rod through the front core support mounts you may have up to 1” X 10” long bolts and no more than 2 washers and 2 nuts in core support mounts. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6” X 6” in diameter and 1/2 “ thick Chain or wiring may not attach to the frame but can attach to the bumper through the upper core support and hood. Chain or wire may not exceed 36” in length and no more than three loops. Secure your hood only AFTER your car passes tech inspection. NO chains or wire around frame.
Trunk and Tailgate: Must have 12” by 12” access hole. Trunks may be tucked up to 50% but NO wedging. Secured maximum of 4 spots with 1” max rod, 36” of chain or 3 loops of #9 wire, chain or wire. Only 2 may go to frame must be vertical. 6 by 6 maximum top plates. In lieu of bolts ect. you may weld 6 4” by 4” by ¼” plates of steel. Wagons tailgates may weld 2 4 by 4 plates per vertical seam.
Sedagans are allowed but you may NOT chain or bolt roof down in any way MUST remain free. Taillight panel MUST remain vertical.
Doors: All doors MUST be chained closed. The driver’s door may be welded completely closed. Driver’s door may be closed ONLY with a steel rod 3/8” thick or less or 3” metal Band 1/4” thick and may be welded solid. NO welding on inside of doors. All remaining doors may be chained up to (2 chains #9 wire or cable may be used) chain or wire NOT to exceed more than 3 loops, or may be welded with up to (2) plates of steel no larger than 4X4X1/4” thick per each vertical door seam. If you go overboard you will be asked to cut your welds.
Bars and Cages: Dash & seat bars are required, must be horizontal, straight, not contoured (max. of 6” diameter) max. of 8” x 8” end plates. Dash bar must be a minium of 8” from distributor protector and be above factory steering column bracket. Seat bar max. of 6” behind seat.
Door bars max. of 6” wide, no more than 60” long. No more than 18” behind center post on four doors, and 10” on two doors. Drivers door bar can be interior or external. Seat bar maybe chained to nearest body mount on each end, not crossed. Roll over bars are permitted but must remain vertical, may not support any part of car, except 2 – 3/8” bolts with 3” washers may attach to roof. Roll over bar may only be fastened to cage only.
Bumpers: Bumpers may be ANY year and ANY MAKE automotive type bumper or you may use a homemade steel tube style bumper 4’X4’X1/4” steel square tube as bumper, it may extend maximum of 10” outside of each frame horn. You may not stuff inside and must not cap either end of tube. DEC replacement bumper is acceptable in its stock configuration. All mounting brackets mounting to the back of the bumper, or frame, or shocks may be welded to secure firmly, but NO adding any steel. NO welding bumpers to the body. Shocks may be drained before welding. NO extra added steel to inside of bumpers or inside bumper shocks. Welding of bumper seams is allowed, no adding of metal. A single strand of chain may be used as a retaining chain. NO wrapping around bumper. Bumpers may be trimmed. Folding ends are permitted; NO bolting or welding folded ends. Maxim bumper height is 22” from ground to bottom of bumper. Bumpers may be turned upside down or front to back. Washers may be welded over the holes cut or drilled out in bumper for chaining or wiring purposes (3” maxim washers).
Interior: With the exception of floor shifters, ALL large holes in floor pans must be patched with sheet metal. Holes may be cut in the firewall to allow distributor cap or other components to move beyond the firewall. Any holes cut into the firewall for this purpose strongly recommended to be covered with a non-flammable or rubber material. Driver’s seat and DOT approved seatbelts.
Chassis: Frame must be from same make and model vehicle with similar frame to body bolt pattern. Example – Impala to Impala, Crown Victoria to Crown Victoria and etc! Vehicle MUST have factory stock, upper and lower core supports – No seam welding on core supports. (NO FILLING FRAME WITH ANY TYPE OF MATERIAL). Frame welding you may weld front to rear top seam ONLY NO more than ½” wide bead NO adding any metal. NO laser cutting the frame, sand blasting, or painting will be allowed. Welding on or to the frame is indicated in specific cases throughout the rules. You may pre-bend your frame, cut and pitch frame and weld cut area but NOT to add any extra steel to the area that’s been cut, or you may notch the frame. No welding frame to body.Cars may weld 1 plate of steel across rear hump on the outside of the frame not to exceed NO larger than 3” wide and 16” in length and NO thicker than ¼” plate steel may be used. Plates may be welded on all four sides on one side of the plate only. Plates MUST remain rectangular shape NO cutting or modifying plates to fit the frame. Cars may weld 1 plate of steel in front end at the weakest point on the OUTSIDE of frame ONLY, NOT TOP, BOTTOM, OR INSIDE not to exceed NO larger than 3” wide and 16” in length and NO thicker than ¼” plate steel may be used. Plates may be welded on all four sides. Plates must remain in one rectangular piece, may NOT cut and be located in two places. You MAY bend your plates. Stubbing is allowed minimum of 18” behind the body bolt by crush box. You may use a 1” metal band around cut area and may be welded no other reinforcement will be allowed. You may NOT move the front body mount. All body mounts MUST remain in stock location. 2003 & newer Fords may replace aluminum cradles with one from an older style, NO after market cradles. NO metal is to be added. You may replace or modify knuckles and/or joints in steering assembly. You may reinforce tie rods with angle iron or rod iron. NO sandblasting, painting, or undercoating any part of frame.
Rear Suspension: Bumper height maximum 22” from ground to bottom of bumper and it is strictly enforced. You may replace broken leaf springs. You may only run factory leafs NO additional leafs will be permitted. Leaf springs MUST have factory spec type stager. Cars with leaf springs you may use 4 clamps, wire, or metal strapping around each set of leaf springs per sides. NO welding of leaf springs. NO duct taping of spring until after inspection. Coil springs may be changed but bumper height must remain 22” or less. SPRING SPACERS will be allowed BUT MUST BE SAFE. Official’s decision will determine safety. You may weld or bolt A-frame not both, NO after market a-frames. You may run 2 small chains, cable, wire, or 2 additional body mounts in rear of sedans or wagons to support rear humps. Do NOT exceed 3 loops. Chain, cable or wire may be secured axle to frame only, or to coils. You may chain or cable rear humps to axle Chain or cable may NOT exceed NO more than 36” in length you may reinforce rear upper & lower control arms. Aftermarket or homemade control arms will be allowed MUST be able to resemble the stock control arms NO going over board.
Engine: You may swap motors. (NO Diesel’s) Firewall may be beat back or cut out for distributor clearance. You may beat back engine side of fire wall ONLY, do NOT weld or bolt firewall. Do NOT reinforce the firewall. Do NOT modify the driver’s side of firewall in any way. DISTRIBUTOR & CARBURATOR PROTECTORS WILL BE PERMITTED, but must remain a minimum of 8” away from dash bar!!!! Engine cradles are permitted BUT MUST ONLY be used to cradle the engine block MUST NOT come in contact with any other part of engine. Engine pulley protectors, and carburetor protectors are allowed Motor may be chained to frame and motor mounts may be altered and strengthened provide this does NOT strengthen the frame or other non-related mounting components. Carburetor must have an air filter. NO ether. Hand throttles are acceptable. Headers and stacks are permitted. Must be completely vertical you may run a bar header to header for support.
Radiator: Radiator MUST be located in stock position. You may use Radi-barrels or other homemade type radiator. Radiator protectors are allowed, steel mesh or similar material may be used NO larger than stock radiator size. Radiator protection may attach to the frame core support only, max. 4 – 3/8” bolts, no excessive metal. Core support may be secured by replacing factory bolts to frame with maximum 1” diameter x 10” long bolts. You may NOT reinforce or add any metal to core support other than washers and tabs for hood securing purposes. Nylon straps, bolts, steel bands, chain or wire may only be used to support radiator. Water only! Please flush out coolant. You must run a hood.
Electrical: 2 (two) twelve volt or heavy equipment batteries are permitted. Batteries MUST be located inside of car on passenger’s front floor, and MUST be securely mounted with a (4) point hold down on each and both MUST be covered. Batteries and boxes MUST be secured. Push button or toggle ignition and power hotwiring switches are acceptable. Solenoid, voltage regulators, coils and other electrical components may be relocated. Components may be enclosed, but not in such a way as to strengthen the car. All fuses must be removed except for the gauges charging the ignition system and electric radiator fan.
Transmission: Transmission coolers are acceptable in any class. Cooler may be mounted inside of car but MUST be NO larger than 24” x 24” x 18” this means that the complete unit including box around cooler NOT to exceed these dimensions. ALL LINES TRAVELING INSIDE OF DRIVERS COMPARTMENT, MUST USE METAL LINES OR HIGH PRESSURE HYDROLIC LINES, AND RUN THROUGH SOME FORM, OF ANOTHER HOSE. If it does not pass inspection you will be asked to loop it off. Shifting linkage may be altered, but cannot pose any kind of safety risk to the driver. Transmission mounts may be altered providing this does NOT strengthen frame.
Gas Tank: Six-gallon fuel cell highly recommended. Original gas tank MUST be removed you may NOT use original fuel tank inside car NO exceptions! Tank MUST be replaced behind the front seat in the middle of the car. Strongly recommended to mount your gas tank to your rear seat bar but you MAY NOT run any kickers. Sedans ONLY, are allowed a gas tank protector, NO larger than 6” bars and NO WIDER THAN 24”, may rest against back seat panel but MAY NOT be attached to any part of the car, MUST run straight back to seat panel NOT in a V shape. NO kickers, and MUST be only in the center of the car. Tanks may be no larger than 6 gallon and MUST be metal and NO plastic or stock fuel tanks will be allowed, NO exceptions. Marine style gas tanks are acceptable. NO plastic or jerry cans. Tanks MUST be securely mounted and all connections must be secure and leak-proof. Stop check valves are highly recommended. All fuel lines MUST run inside car. Gas tanks must be completely covered. Tanks must be mounted separate from cover. Holes must be drilled under and around the tank cover in case of gas spillage occurs. Gas spillage WILL result in disqualification! Pump fuel only (NO Alcohol or methanol). Rubber fuel line highly recommended from gas tank to fuel pump. Electric Fuel pumps are acceptable but MUST have shut off switch within drivers Reach and clearly marked for fire officials. NO plastic lines.
Rear Differentials: 5 or 8 Lug maximum rear ends will be permitted. ¾ ton or floater rear ends will be permitted, BUT MUST NOT be reinforced in any way. Locked or welded is permitted. Gears are permitted.
Brakes: Brakes MUST be functional in the start of every heat or feature.
Tires and Rims: Any ply. 14’, 15’, & 16”tires are permitted maximum inch allowance of 30”, 10” width. Double tires (tire-inside-tire), rubber inner-liners or solid rubber tires are acceptable. NO studded tires. NO wheel weights, double rims or split rims.

Any American made car considered 1980 & newer 2 or 4 door hardtop cars or station wagons. NO 4WD, jeeps, carryalls, camaros, firebirds, or elcominos allowed.
BODY: NO welding of any sort will be allowed. Wheel wells may be cut up to 3” maximum to allow for tire clearance but NO bolting or welding will be allowed. Front lower fender may be trimmed or folded to allow tire clearance but NO welding or bolting will be allowed. Body bolts and mounts must be factory you may NOT change them or replace the body mounts. Additional body mounts may NOT be added anywhere.
HOOD: Hood MUST have 10” – 12” hole on either side of air cleaner if the exhaust is not run through the hood. Hood maybe secured in 4 spots by chain, cable, or #9 wire NO more than 3 loops. Hood hinges count as 2 connections. You may run chain around the front core support or around your bumper may NOT attach to the frame. Chain not to exceed 48” in length and NO more than two loops, secure your hood ONLY after your car passes tech inspection.
TRUNK & TAILGATE: Trunk must be empty and free of dirt and debris. Trunk must be secured with chain. Trunk may be secured in 4 spots with chain, cable or #9 wire only No more than 3 loops. Trunk hinges count as 2. Chains NOT to exceed 48” in length, and NOT wrap around more than two loops NO chain around frame.
DOORS: All doors must be chained closed. You may use 2 chains, cable, or #9 wire on driver’s door only and 1 chain, cable, or #9 wire on all remaining doors and may ONLY be wrapped around door posts three loops maximum. You may install an interior or exterior driver’s door bar NOT both may ONLY exceed 4” past door seam, max 6” wide and only up to 3/8 thick, for safety purpose only.
WINDOWS: Two vertical steel bars or chain must be run from roof to the car body (not the hood) in front of the driver. NO #9 wire in any windows.
BUMPERS: Bumpers MUST be 1980 & newer (be prepared to prove this if using uncommon bumper.) NO exchanging bumpers or switching around. Bumpers may be welded to brackets, and bracket to frame, NO welding of bumpers directly to frame. Impact shocks may be welded. NO other areas will be accepted. NO adding any extra steel. Maximum bumper height is 22” from ground to bottom of bumper. You may use short piece of chain or wire to retain bumper, cannot be welded anywhere, it cannot be wrapped around bumper.
INTERIOR: With exceptions of floor shifters, all large holes in floor pans must be patched with sheet metal. Holes in fire wall will be permitted for distributor clearance. Any holes cut into firewall MUST be protected with a non flammable type material. Driver’s seat and DOT approved seatbelts MUST be securely mounted.
CHASSIS: Frame may NOT be strengthened in any way (NO filling frame with any type of material and or NO frame seam welding will be permitted). You may NOT weld any plates to the front or rear of the frame in this class. It is strongly recommended that you do run an interior or exterior drivers side door bar for safety. Horizontal bar may be put behind drivers seat MUST remain 18” from floor. It MUST be between 3” – 6” in diameter, MUST be hollow and NOT more than 18” above floor boards. It MUST be securely welded, bolted, chained or wired to inside of car, to door or door posts only and NOT have plates bigger than 6”X6” on ends. NO dash bars permitted in this class. You may only use stock steering columns in this class. You may NOT reinforce any of your steering components or alter in any way. NO sandblasting, undercoating, or painting of the frame will be allowed. Trailer hitches and brackets MUST be removed. YOU MAYNOT PITCH FRAME ON THE FRONT OF ANYCAR IN THE STOCK CLASS, WE WILL BE CHECKING WITH THE SCOPE!!!!YOU MAY COLDBEND FRAME
REAR END & SUSPENTION: Shocks and suspension must NOT be altered in any way. NO increasing the height of vehicle from its factory height. Bumper maximum height is 22” from ground to bumper. Secured spring spacers may be used and coil springs may be tack welded. Stock rear ends ONLY NO gear changes. You may Weld your rear end gears. You MUST have a stock 80 & newer rear end in your car NO exceptions will be allowed MUST be make for make. NO slider drive shaft or custom shafts will be allowed. You may customize if you run a Chevy Transmission to a ford rear end etc.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION: You may swap motors and transmissions in this class but they must remain stock spec’s NO built motors will be permitted in this class. Any intake and carburetor will be allowed to run. Chief Official will disqualify car if it seems to have a built motor in it. Motor claim rule in stock class only: Any driver finishing in the top 5 in the feature may request to claim anyone else’s motor that finished in top 5.
Claimee to keep pipes, intake, carburetor and starter.
Claim fee of $400.00 or claimee’s option of excepting $200.00 and exchanging motors. First driver to make request for claim to head official within 3 minutes of conclusion of feature will be honored.
One claim total for feature. Refusal by claimee will result in forfeit of all prize money and trophy.
All money and motor exchange to be handled and overseen by head official.
You may weld your motor mounts, or chain motor but MUST be within 5” of original place. Carburetor must have air cleaner. NO ether. Hand throttles are permitted. Must use stock transmission mounts and cross member. Transmission coolers are allowed. Transmission cooler MUST be NO larger than 24X24X18 or you may loop off your lines. Headers are allowed but MUST remain vertical.
RADIATOR: Must be a stock radiator NO radi-barrels or protectors will be permitted. You MUST drain anti-freeze out and run with water ONLY.
FAN: If you run a radiator fan you MUST run with a hood.
BRAKES: MUST be functional in the start of every heat or feature.
TIRES & RIMS: MUST be of factory size. You may run tire in tire. Fork lift tires will be permitted. You may use tubes.
OFFICIALS DECISIONS: Are final. If it’s NOT in the rules it’s NOT legal. Any car considered dangerous or illegal will be rejected.

FULL SIZE TRUCKS & SUBURBANS:
½ ton ¾ and 1 ton 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive pick-up trucks or suburbans. If using a 4 wheel drive truck you MUST remove front wheel drive shaft to compete. Extended & crew cab trucks allowed. NO dually trucks.
STRIPPING:
Remove all glass, a metal screen must be securely fastened in place of windshield in front of the drivers view, a windshield brace also MUST be added, extending from firewall to the roof and securely fastened to both ends. Remove all outside chrome and trim pieces. Remove all flammable materials from the interior, except the driver’s seat. All loose material MUST be removed from the truck (i.e. plastic, glass, etc.)
DOORS & CAB:
Drivers and passenger doors may be welded solid maximum of 1/8” thick by 3” wide, or you may use chains, cables, or bolts with no more than 36” of chain and no more than 3 bolts per door. You may run a dash bar, back seat bar, and door bars. The bars can be no larger than 6”x6”. The cage MUST have a safety chain or be bolted to secure it through the floor to the frame for safety. A padded head rest may be used. Rear window area behind drivers seat MUST have either a cross brace or a mesh type material (Expanded Steel would be best). ROLLOVER BARS ARE PERMITTED BUT MUST remain vertical ONLY.
HOODS:
MUST be bolted with no less than 3/8” and no more than 1”, or chained with chains not to exceed 3 feet in length with 1” links and no welding, but not both. NO more than 6 bolts may be used in the hood with plates not to exceed 6”x6” square diameter and no more than ½” thick. NO more than 6 nuts per bolt or threaded rod. Hood hinges count as 2 secured points. Bolts or threaded rod may not exceed 1” in diameter and not to extend 6” above hood and a maximum length of 30” total. ONLY 2 bolts or threaded rod may be connected to the frame. Front two bolts or threaded rods may be welded to frame but not the exceed weld of 6” only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rod must run vertical from frame to hood. NO bending around frame will be permitted. All hoods must have 15” square fire hole. You must have an air cleaner or carburetor.
TRUCK BOXES:
All pick-up boxes must be the original equipment style. NO HOME MADE BOXES! Pick-up boxes may have an additional 4 bolts per side to help safely secure the pick-up box to the frame; may use up to ¾ bolts with 6”x6”x1/2” plates max. You MAY run two pieces of flat stock across the front and rear of the truck box BUT MUST NOT BE ANY LARGER THAN 24”X48” AND NO THICKER THAN ½”. Tailgates may be welded solid flat stock steel maximum of 1/8” think by 3” wide. Or you may use bolts, chain or cable to secure the tailgate. Boxes may be welded to cab, flat stock steel maximum of 1/8” thick by 7” wide. NO tucking or wedged boxes and NO sedagons.
BUMPERS:
Max bumper height of 30”. NO aftermarket step bumpers. Bumpers may be ANY year and ANY MAKE automotive type bumper or you may use a homemade steel tube style bumper 4’x4’x1/4” steel square tube as a bumper, it may only extend a maximum of 10” outside of the frame. You may not stuff inside and MUST NOT cap either end of the tube. If you run without a rear bumper you may weld a steel brace between frame rails NOT to exceed any larger than 4”x4” and NOT to extend out any further than rails. Trailer hitches MUST be removed. Bumper and brackets may be welded but NO more than 8” from front of frame back. All cut edges MUST have rolled around edges. Chains may also be used. NO reinforcing and no excessive welding. Bumpers may be removed. NO added metal frame rail to frame rail.
SUSPENSION AND STEERING:
NO DUCT TAPING OF LEAF SPRINGS BEFORE TRUCKS ARE INSPECTED. NO welding of leaf springs. Max of 12 1 ton factory size leaf springs per set and up to 4 clamps per set. A arms my be welded down to the frame and reinforced. You may reinforce or make your own tie rods and steering shaft.
ENGINE:
You may run any motor transmission combination. Firewall may be beat back or cut out for distributer clearance but no welding or bolting of firewall. Distributer protectors are permitted but can’t be welded or bolted to the firewall. They also may not touch the dash bar before or after. Engine cradles are permitted. Motor may be chained to the frame and motor mounts may be altered and strengthened providing this does not strengthen the frame or other non-related mounting components. You may run hand throttles. Headers and stacks are permitted.
TRANSMISSION:
Transmission coolers are acceptable. Cool may be mounted inside the cab. Cooler lines that run through the cab must be steel or high pressure hydraulic lines. If it does not pass inspection you will be asked to loop it off. Shifting linkage may be altered, but can’t appose any kind of safety risk to the driver. Transmission mounts may be altered providing it does not strengthen the frame.
RADIATOR:
Due to EPA regulations, NO ANTI-FREEZE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE RADIATIORS-WATER ONLY ALLOWED.
(PLEASE FLUSH BEFORE YOU ARRIVE) NO truck will be allowed to participate with radiator relocated. You may run Radi-Barrels or other homemade radiators as long as they are in stock position. Radiator protectors such as wire mesh or similar may be used. Radi-Barrels may be welded to the frame and you may add 1 kicker per side. 2x2 angle iron ¼” thick 24” long max or 4” flat iron ¼” thick by 24” long max. No more than 6” of angle iron or flat strap can be welded to the frame.
BATTERIES:
All batteries MUST be moved inside the truck to the passenger floor area. Batteries MUST be in some kind of box and must be bolted to the floor with a 4 point hold down system and MUST be covered for the safety of the driver. Cover MUST be securely fastened.
GAS TANK:
The stock gas tank must be removed. A metal state approved boat gas tank or fuel cell (6 gallon maximum capacity) fuel tank MUST be securely fastened and mounted in the center of the bed near the cab. Metal straps, chain, or ratchet strap to securely fasten the tank to the bed. The metal gas tank MUST be covered. Electric fuel pumps MUST have an emergency shut off and must be highly noticeable and marked. Pump fuel ONLY used NO alcohol.
SEATBELTS:
All trucks must be equipped with a seatbelt.
TIRES & RIMS:
NO split rims allowed on trucks. All wheel weights must be removed from rims. Truck tires are NOT to exceed 10” wide. All lugs must be trimmed off prior to show and must meet official’s approval.
