This year I have a ford engine with a chevy rearend. This is the first time I've tried this. I'm at the point where I need to address the driveshaft. Since I'm new at this, what should be done? Can I make one? If so, how is it done? I know I could buy one, but I' m limited on funds right now. Please, can anyone give me a tutorial on what to do? Much appreciation! Thanks! I only have 3 weeks til the derby!

What i have done in the past is find the right driveshaft for the trans that is longer and cut it down to the size you need. Take the end of the ford drive shaft and cut the welds with a whiz wheel till you can slide the u joint end off the ford drive shaft. Slide that end into the driveshaft you need and weld it back together.

Chop sawed ends off of the rear end shaft and trans shaft I needed, welded onto 1/4" walled 2 3/8 oil field pipe. Working good so far!
