Lodi Agricultural Fair Demolition Derby
Friday July 13, and Saturday July 14, 2012 Rules common to all classes
Entries close 6:00 pm; All vehicles and drivers must be registered by 6:00 pm! No exceptions!!!
Drivers meeting: 6:45 pm sharp
Derby starts: 7:30 pm sharp
In the interest of safety, anyone entering is subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations which are set up by the Lodi Agricultural Fair Board.
NOTE: ALL RULES MARKED WITH ** ARE NEW, CHANGED OR MODIFIED FOR 2012!
A. Each driver must fill out an entry blank. Pit crew must sign the entry. Only one entry per person per class, you may participate in all classes, but only one entry per class.
B. ** Each driver must be of legal age and hold a valid driver’s license. Drivers and pit people under age 18 must have a notarized release form signed by their parent or legal guardian. No one under age 16 is allowed in the pit area.
C. The Lodi Ag. Fair reserves the right to reject any and all entries.
D. Only owners, drivers, mechanics, etc. who sign the entry blank and waiver will be permitted in the pit area. MAXIMUM OF THREE PERSONS PER VEHICLE (INCLUDES DRIVER).
E. The promoter, track owner and Lodi Ag. Fair will not be held responsible for vehicles, parts, personal property or personal injuries or death, during, or after the show (this includes overnight).
F. A functioning seat belt, Z-90 approved helmet, goggles, long sleeve shirt, and long pants are required. All air bags and charges must be removed before arriving at the track.
G. All glass, head and tail lights, chrome, fiberglass header panels, carpeting, antennas, hubcaps, wheel weights, and bottom portion of the rear seat must be removed before the vehicle will pass inspection. Cut off or mash down any sharp protruding dangerous objects.
H. Windshield must be removed and replaced with either two chains or two straps mounted from firewall to roof vertically (REQUIRED) must be welded or bolted (properly secured).
I. Radiator cannot be moved. It must stay in the original position or taken off. Water only, no antifreeze. Over flow hoses must point at the ground.
J. Batteries, one or two automotive type batteries are allowed. They may be moved to any position in the vehicle but must be securely fastened and covered.
K. Gas tanks, stock gas tanks must be removed from stock position. You must use a steel gas tank mounted on the floor behind the driver’s seat. This includes compacts with electric fuel pumps in the stock gas tanks. STOCK GAS TANKS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. All gas tanks must be securely fastened and covered. No steel cages (so called gas tank protectors allowed) 4 gallons gas max. per heat. We recommend using steel gas line in the passenger compartment. If rubber is used we require covering it with another hose such as a garden hose to prevent gas from spraying inside the passenger compartment. Old weather checked gas line will not be permitted, all gas line must be deemed safe by the inspection crew, if not you will not be permitted to participate. Vehicles with any sign of gas leaks or spills will not be allowed into the derby. If questions, call Jim 608-635-8926.
L. Roof Sign, all vehicles are required to have a 15”X15” sign on the roof with a clearly displayed number on both sides of it. Sign must be white with dark numbers. Sign must be securely fastened.
M. Tires, vehicles may run any tire size and ply, no liquid filled tires allowed, take wheel weights off the rims.
N. Doors, the driver’s door must be painted white, special numbers are permitted. Track officials reserve the right to modify numbers. We REQUIRE reinforcing the driver’s door with steel bar, angle iron or pipe (not to exceed 10” on either end of driver’s door). Door seam may be a solid weld on driver’s door only. All doors must be fastened shut by wire, straps or chains in a maximum of 6 places per door or a maximum of a 6” weld on the door seam. Bottoms of doors may be chained around the frame. (chain one loop only)
O. Hoods, all hoods will be opened at inspection prior to running. A minimum 10’ hole must be cut in the hood. The hood may be fastened down in a maximum of 6 places with bolts, chains, or wire, chains may wrap around the bumpers.(chain one loop only) Maximum of 6 bolts may be used to bolt sheet metal on hoods to the inside supporting beams, (3/8 bolts max size). Up to 1’ threaded rod may be run through frame at core support or be welded a-frame forward vertically to frame. Only 2 threaded rods can go to the frame, should not extend out of the hood more than 6”. Maximum washer size is 6”. Threaded rod to frame is considered 2 of the 6 places!!!
P. Trunks, the trunk may be fastened down in a maximum of 6 places with bolts, chains, wire, or 6 spots of 4”weld on the trunks. Chains may wrap around the bumpers.(chain ,one loop only) Body mounts in the trunk may be removed and replaced with up to 1” threaded rod protruding through the trunk or threaded rod can be welded vertically to the frame with no more than 6” of weld. Only 4 threaded rods can go to the frame. Maximum washer size 6”. Threaded rod to the frame is considered 4 of the 6 places!!! Maximum of 6 bolts may be used to bolt sheet metal on trunks to the inside supporting beams. (3/8 bolts max size) You may tuck up to ½ your trunk lid, but do not press your trunks flat. We need to see inside your trunks at inspection time.
Q. Tailgates may be fastened down in a maximum of 4 places using bolts, wire or chain, or a maximum of 6” weld in each place. Chains may go to the bumper, but this will be considered 2 of the 4 places. (chain, one loop only)
R. Fenders, maximum of 6 bolts may be used per wheel well (3/8 bolts max size), all bolts must be cut off flush with the nut.
S. Body Mounts, all body mounts must be in place except where threaded rod is allowed in the trunk and radiator support. If any mounts are repaired or replaced, it must be done to factory specs.
T. Safety bars, you may have a dash bar, seat bar, and a door bar for each front door. Dash bar must be mounted horizontally in the dash area. Seat bar must be mounted behind front seat but no farther than 10” past the door seam, no kickers. Door bar must be connected from dash bar to seat bar. Bar may be welded or bolted in. No bars smaller than 3” or larger than 6” in diameter, or less than 1/4” in thickness. Padding is recommended on bars by driver. Required safety chain for dash bar to fire wall, seat bar to floor (sheet metal) not the frame. Halo bars OK, but not connected to the frame. No kickers and no connecting any bars to the frame!!!
U. No painting, undercoating, oiling, greasing or mudding of frames. You will not be inspected. Tie rods reinforced OK.
V. Last but not least, FOLLOW THE RULES, if it doesn’t say you can than chances are you can’t. If questions call Jim at 608-635-8926.
Full size car rules
1977 and newer, no leaf spring cars, convertibles, T-tops, hearses or Limos
A. ** Bumpers, any 1977 and newer car bumper will be allowed. Bumpers may be welded to keep them from falling off, small amount of metal added to keep bumper from falling off OK. No welding over any factory weld or any other kind of fabrication will be allowed. We will allow in place of the front and rear bumper a piece of HOLLOW rectangular steel dimensions 6” tall 2” deep by ¼” wall by 60” length. Front and rear bumper height minimum is 16” to the bottom of the bumper.
B. Tranny Coolers may be mounted inside the car but must be no larger than 24” X 24” X 18”. This means the complete unit including the box around the cooler is not to exceed stated dimensions. All lines traveling inside the passenger compartment must use metal lines or high pressure hydraulic steel braded line. Double clamp hose connections, If it does not pass inspection you will be asked to loop it.
C. Distributor protectors are not allowed in any way shape or form PERIOD!!!
D. Rear ends. No truck rear ends allowed! Factory (stock) car rear ends only. They may be welded to produce a posi-traction rear end. No reinforcing, no add ons or braces. Any drive shaft is ok.
E. Last but not least FOLLOW THE RULES, if it doesn’t say you can then chances are you can’t. If questions call Jim at 608-635-8926.
Midsize and Compacts rules (no Pacers)
Compacts: 103” wheel base and less, 4 cylinders only
Midsize: 103.25”-108” wheel base 4 & 6 cylinders only
A. ** Bumpers must match division (i.e. compact on compact, midsize on midsize, etc.) Bumpers may be welded to keep them from falling off, small amount of metal added to keep bumper from falling off OK. No welding over any factory weld or any other kind of fabrication will be allowed. We will allow in place of the front and rear bumper a piece of HOLLOW rectangular steel ( dimensions 4” tall 2” deep by 1/8” wall 50” long ).
B. Tranny Coolers must be in the engine compartment in front of the fire wall or in the original factory position. No auxiliary tranny coolers aloud in these divisions PERIOD!!!
C. Distributor protectors are not allowed in any way shape or form PERIOD!!!
D. Rear ends, No reinforcing, no add ons or braces. Factory drive shafts only. Two wheel drive only.
E. Last but not least FOLLOW THE RULES, if it doesn’t say you can then chances are you can’t. If questions call Jim 608-635-8926
Truck Rules
A. Bumpers must be a truck bumper. Bumpers may be welded to keep them from falling off, small amount of metal added to keep bumper from falling off OK. No welding over any factory weld or any other kind of fabrication will be allowed. We will allow in place of the front bumper only a piece of HOLLOW rectangular steel ( dimensions 6” tall 2” deep by ¼” wall by 60” length).
B. Tranny Coolers may be mounted inside the Truck/Suburban but must be no larger than 24” X 24” X 18”. This means the complete unit including the box around the cooler is not to exceed stated dimensions. All lines traveling inside the passenger compartment must use metal lines, or high pressure hydraulic steel braided line. Double clamp hose connections. If it does not pass inspection you will be asked to loop it.
C. Driver and passenger doors (front doors only) may be welded solid on the door seams.
D. ** Pick-up boxes can be secured to the frame with a maximum of 10 bolts. This includes bolts through the cab and box. 6" washer maximum size. No pre-bending the box (no wedging).
E. Distributor protectors are not allowed in any way shape or form PERIOD!!!
F. Rear ends may be welded to produce posi-traction. No reinforcing, no add ons, or braces. Any driveshaft is OK. ADDING WEIGHT IS NOT ALLOWED!!!
G. Last but not least FOLLOW THE RULES, if it doesn’t say you can then chances are you can’t. If questions call Jim 608-635-8926
