Morgan County Fair Rules 2012

MORGAN COUNTY FAIR HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY ENTRY AND SPECTATOR ADMITTANCE.
-
All cars should be signed in 1 hour before derby time and inspected ½ hour before derby time.
-
No reinforcements allowed other than specified below. Any metal added to reinforce the car is illegal.
-
NO PAINTING, UNDERCOATING, OILING, OR GREASING OF FRAMES. YOU WILL NOT BE INSPECTED. YOU WILL BE LOADED.
-
NO HITTING IN DRIVERS DOOR, but no using driver door as a shield. If the hit is deemed by the official to be careless or intentional, you will be disqualified. If you use your driver’s door as a defense, we will not enforce this rule. If you use the door defense repeatedly you will be disqualified. This will be at the judge’s discretion.
-
NO hot-rodding in the pits! Keep it at an idle.
-
First fire will be put out, second fire will cause disqualification. If in a heat, you may fix it and come back in the consolidation. In the feature, you will be disqualified.
-
NO Sandbagging! The fans pay to see a show, put one on for them!
-
You have 1 minute to start and 1 minute to make a hit – that’s 2 minutes total.
-
Cars are subject for re-inspection before any prize money is handed out. Cars found illegal will be stripped of anything that they may have won.
-
An entry fee of $XX will be charged for each car entered.
-
All drivers must pick up trophies and earnings at the completion of the event, or forfeit. They will not be available after that date.
-
All persons MUST sign entry form, insurance waiver, release form, pay entry fees, and purchase pit pass before entering pit area.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL IN THE PITS. This also includes pit crews. If you or ANY of your crew are caught with alcohol in the pits, you and your car will be disqualified.

No harassing of the judges will be allowed at any time by drivers, passengers, crew members, or spectators. Failure to abide by this rule, the driver will forfeit all money and all involved will be escorted from premises if you chose to come back in You WILL be arrested.
STOCK RULES
AUTOMOBILE BODY/FRAME REGULATION
-
Any passenger cars or station wagons as follows… No trucks, jeeps, hearses, limousines, or Imperials or Pre-70’s Lincolns
DRIVELINE
-
Motor, transmission, and drive line must be stock and must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar. No slip drive shafts.
PREPERATION OF CARS
-
All glass, side windows, rear windows, headlights and taillights, must be removed before reaching the track. All cars must be swept clean, both drivers compartment and trunk. (No spare tires, broken glass, or trash, etc. allowed in the cars). Cars must have working seatbelt and working brakes. MANDATORY!!! Battery must be mounted securely and free of movement. Battery must be securely fastened and covered in passenger compartment. Any type automotive radiator may be used by must be mounted in stock position.
DOORS
-
All doors may be welded, chained or wired shut. Straps should not be larger than 1/8” thick and 4” wide
FENDERS
-
Fenders may be bolted together with 3/8” bolts or smaller with 1” or smaller washers only. A maximum of 10 bolts per wheel opening.
HOOD
-
Hoods must have at least 2 holes, at least 4” OD on each side of the carburetor. Not directly on top of carburetor. IF HOOD IS REMOVED, FAN BLADE MUST BE REMOVED OR FAN BELT MUST BE CUT. On all cars, hoods, trunks, and tailgates may be secured with following method: on front of car, 2 pieces of 3/4" all thread, with a washer no larger than 6” OD and 3/8” thick. All thread MUST be mounted outboard or behind the radiator. In addition to all thread 4 3/4" bolts with a washer no larger than 6” OD and 3/8” thick or you may use angle iron back to back on the topside with bolts through it. Angle iron cannot be more than 1/4" thick or longer than 6” (2) on each side of car, a total of 4. Total of 6 places holding the hood down and any amount of wire. A maximum of 20 bolts 3/8” or smaller are allowed to bolt together hood seams.

HOODS ARE TO BE OPEN FOR INSPECTION
TRUNK AND TAILGATES

On the trunk of car, 2 pieces of 3/4" all thread, may go through 2 body mounts, with a washer no larger than 6” OD and 3/8” thick, all thread may be mounted anywhere on deck lid.

Unlimited #9 wire

On station wagons 2 pieces of 3/4" all thread, with a washer no larger than 6” OD and 3/8” thick, all thread may be used in the rear window through roof and stock body mount replacing existing bolt and unlimited amount of wire
BODY BOLTS

4 mount bolts may be replaces with 3/4" bolts; 2 in the front of car and 2 in the trunk.
CAGE
-
You can have up to 2 cross bars – 1 across the dash, 1 behind front seats. NO KICKERS
-
Maximum width of side bars is 12” and has to be at least 12” off of the floor. And must stop at inside rear wheel well.
-
You CANNOT have anything on outside of car (grater blade, pipe, C-channel, etc.)
-
A minimum of 1, maximum of 2 bars, chains or wire running from the outside (top) of roof down to the cowl on the front window is MADATORY for safety.
FRAME
-
IF YOUR FRAME IS PAINTED, UNDER COATED, OR ANYTHING BUT FACTORY DON’T BRING IT BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT RUN AND I’M NOT WASTING MY TIME LOOKING.

HOLES MUST BE OPEN FOR INSPECTION OF FRAME. No plating, stuffing, heat treating or foam filling of frame is allowed. Do NOT paint, undercoat, oil or grease your frames or you will not even be inspected.
-
You may notch the frame for minimal pre-bending, but DO NOT weld the cut.
-
If your car is 03 and newer you can run the factory engine cradle or weld in only a 80 and newer ford cradle. NO EXCEPTIONS…NO ADDED METAL.
BUMPERS
-
Must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar.

Light welding, NO added metal!
-
You may use 2 pieces of light chain per shock
-
Fender and bumper ends may be trimmed to allow for wheel clearance

DOWNTUBES CAN BE WELDED TO THE FRAME. Max of 4 down tubes.

You can have two Kickers one per side, one inch behind A-arm.

You are allowed 60 inches of 1/4in plating on fresh cars and 90 inches 1/4in plating on rerun cars.

You may pitch frame in front

You may run 1 wire or chain from frame rail to frame rail underneath back of car behind rear end

You may notch frame for minimal pre-bending
BUMPERS
-
Any OEM bumper may be bolted or welded to car. You can load any OEM stock bumper BUT IT MUST LOOK LIKE A STOCK BUMPER. NO HOMEMADE BUMPERS! NO CONCRETE.

Any OEM shock canister may be bolted or welded to any car
-
IF you don’t use a stock canister the only other method is square or round pipe up to 2” OD 1/4" thick and cannot extend behind OEM mounting bolt location on frame

You may not use two (2) pieces of light chain per shock
-
Fenders and bumper ends may be trimmed to allow for wheel clearance
-
Bumpers must have inspection holes to see inside bumper
SUSPENSION

Homemade tie rods and homemade steering shaft are permitted.

Converting coil springs to leafs is allowed but you must follow these rules. Springs must have at least a 2” stager, no more then 5 clamps per side, no more than 8 springs per side. Springs must be no more than 2 1/2” wide, spring must be no longer than 5’ or shortened 3 1/2'. Thickness no more then 5/16 stay as close to factory as possible when doing this conversion. Must have working shackle in rear. MUST BE O.E. CAR/TRUCK SPRINGS
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Any engine or transmission may be used in any car, but must be mounted within 5” of stock location

Chained, welded, or homemade motor mounts will be permitted, but cannot be designed to strengthen car

Any type of header is allowed, but cannot face forward or backward.

NO four-wheel drive vehicles

MANDATORY!! All four/six cylinder cars must have a cage. Four point minimum.

Stock gas tank MUST be removed. Original tanks CAN BE USED but must be secure from movement and all lines under car must be steel lines or if funning rubber lines they must be inside of the car
SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS

Cars must have at least one bar attached from roof down to dash area to pevent hood from coming in.

Radiator overflow hoses must be pointing at ground and fastened so they can not shoot water toward anyone.

Header pipes cannot face forward or backward

Note: If you have a home in the fier wall is should be covered

Safety belts required

DOT approved helmets mandatory. FULL FACE RECOMMENDED

Safety glasses or shield recommended

In addition to all thread 4 3/4" bolts with a washer no larger than 6” OD and 3/8” thick or you may use angle iron back to back on the topside with bolts through it. Angle iron cannot be more than 1/4" thick or longer than 6” (2) on each side of car, a total of 4. Total of 6 places holding the hood down and any amount of wire. A maximum of 20 bolts 3/8” or smaller are allowed to bolt together hood seams.

HOODS ARE TO BE OPEN FOR INSPECTION
TRUNK AND TAILGATES

On the trunk of car, 2 pieces of 3/4" all thread, with a washer no larger than 6” OD and 3/8” thick, all thread may be mounted anywhere on deck lid.

Unlimited #9 wire

In addition to all thread, you may weld trunk lid or tailgate solid.

On station wagons 2 pieces of 3/4" all thread, with a washer no larger than 6” OD and 3/8” thick, all thread may be used in the rear window through roof and stock body mount replacing existing bolt and unlimited amount of wire

All body mount bolts may be replaces with 3/4" bolts

CAGE

YOU MUST HAVE A CAGE NO EXCEPTIONS

You can have up to 4 cross bars, but no less than 2 – 1 across the dash, 1 behind front seats, on at centerline of rear axle, and 1 in rear seat area. (2 per sides)

DOWNTUBES CAN BE WELDED TO THE FRAME. Max of 4 down tubes.

You can have two Kickers one per side, one inch behind A-arm.
-
Maximum width of side bars is 12” and has to be at least 12” off of the floor. And must stop at center line rear axle.

You CANNOT have anything on outside of car (grater blade, pipe, C-channel, etc.)

You can have 1 halo bar that can be attached to door cage bar and run to the frame but it will be counted as 2 of your down tubes.

A minimum of 1, maximum of 2, bars, chains, or wire running from the outside (top) of roof down to the cowl on the front window is MANDATORY for safety.

2 REAR WINDOW BARS ARE ALLOWED and must be mounted in front of the trunk lid

You are allowed gas tank protectors but must be 6” from back packing tray
FRAME

IF YOUR FRAME IS PAINTED, UNDER COATED, DON’T BRING IT BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT RUN AND I’M NOT WASTING MY TIME LOOKING.

ALL FRAME SEAMS CAN BE REWELDED.

NO CONCRETE!!
-
DO NOT WELD UP FACTORY HOLES UP; ALL FACTORY HOLES MUST BE OPEN FOR INSPECTION OF FRAME. No stuffing, heat treating or foam filling of frame is allowed. Do NOT paint, undercoat, oil or grease your frames or you will not even be inspected.

You are allowed 60 inches of 1/4in plating on fresh cars and 90 inches 1/4in plating on rerun cars.

You may pitch frame in front
-
You may run 1 wire or chain from frame rail to frame rail underneath back of car behind rear end
-
You may notch frame for minimal pre-bending
BUMPERS
-
Any OEM bumper may be bolted or welded to car. You can load any OEM stock bumper BUT IT MUST LOOK LIKE A STOCK BUMPER. NO HOMEMADE BUMPERS! NO CONCRETE.

Any OEM shock canister may be bolted or welded to any car
-
IF you don’t use a stock canister the only other method is square or round pipe up to 2” OD 1/4" thick and cannot extend behind OEM mounting bolt location on frame
-
You may not use two (2) pieces of light chain per shock
-
Fenders and bumper ends may be trimmed to allow for wheel clearance
-
Bumpers must have inspection holes to see inside bumper
SUSPENSION
-
Stiffness of suspension will be left up to the discretion of the driver. A-arms may be bolted or lightly welded to frame.
-
Homemade tie rods and homemade steering shaft are permitted.
-
Converting coil springs to leafs is allowed but you must follow these rules. Springs must have at least a 2” stager, no more then 5 clamps per side, no more than 8 springs per side. Springs must be no more than 2 1/2” wide, spring must be no longer than 5’ or shortened 3 1/2'. Thickness no more then 5/16 stay as close to factory as possible when doing this conversion. Must have working shackle in rear. MUST BE O.E. CAR/TRUCK SPRINGS
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Any engine or transmission may be used in any car, but must be mounted within 5” of stock location
-
Chained, welded, or homemade motor mounts will be permitted, but cannot be designed to strengthen car
-
Any type of header is allowed, but cannot face forward or backward.

Transmission oil coolers and engines oil coolers are permitted
-
DISTRIBUTOR PROTECTORS ARE ALLOWED BUT THERE MUST BE AT LEAST 6” BETWEEN CAGE AND DISTRIBUTOR PROTECTOR
GAS TANKS

Stock tank MUST be removed. NO PLASTIC TANKS. MUST BE METAL. The only exception is a bought racing fuel cell. Tank must be mounted in the rear seat area and secured down with metal straps or rachet straps (no bungee cords, plumbers straps, or metal screws)

NO PLASTIC BOAT TANKS ALLOWED!

All tanks MUST be covered with a rubber cover or something non flammable
-
All tanks MUST have secure cap. All lines and fittings MUST be leak proof and meet approval of Officials.

Electric fuel pumps are permitted but MUST have shut off within reach of driver.
REAREND/TIRES

Any automobile 14 bolt or smaller rearend can be used in any car
-
Only 16” or smaller tires and wheels will be allowed. NO SPLIT RIMS ALLOWED

No studded tires

Valve stem protectors, and screws in rims permitted. NO liquid tires
COMPACT CAR RULES
Same rules as full size derby except as follows:

Must be powered by four or six cylinder engine

Wheelbase must be 108 inches or less. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

NO LEAFING MINI CARS

NO four-wheel drive vehicles
-
MANDATORY!! All four/six cylinder cars must have a cage. Four point minimum.

Stock gas tank MUST be removed. Original tanks CAN BE USED but must be secure from movement and all lines under car must be steel lines or if funning rubber lines they must be inside of the car
SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS

Cars must have at least one bar attached from roof down to dash area to pevent hood from coming in.
-
Radiator overflow hoses must be pointing at ground and fastened so they can not shoot water toward anyone.
-
Header pipes cannot face forward or backward
-
Note: If you have a home in the fier wall is should be covered

Safety belts required

DOT approved helmets mandatory. FULL FACE RECOMMENDED

Safety glasses or shield recommended

Mandatory you must wear long pants and shirts (fire suit is recommended)

2 fires your out unless fuel fire then one fire your out

No alcoholic beverages or drugs allowed in pit area or track

No pit persons allowed on track

If you reinforce anything besides what is states in these rules it can be considered illegal and you will not run. Officials decision is final.
