Benton County Fair Demolition Derby will be on Saturday July 21st in Boswell Indiana. Rules will be post soon. We will have Full Size Cars, Trucks and we want to see what drivers would like to have for third class. Compacts or Pro-mods? Thanks
2012 Benton County Fair Demolition DerbyRules [/][= 14pt; line-height: 115%] [/] DriverInformation 1. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and must be 18 years of age or older. Drivers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present or a notarized authorization from the parent or guardian. 2. Safety belts, helmets, long pants, long sleeved shirts, and eye protection are mandatory. 3. Pit area is idle zone only! Anyone speeding in the pits will not run in the event. 4. Drivers will be responsible for their crew members. No drugs or alcohol will be allowed at this event, anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be removed from the event. 5. Cars must have working brakes. Brakes will be checked before you enter the track. If brakes do not work you will not run. 6. No TEAM DERBYING & NO SANDBAGING. Cars/trucks must make contact within 90 seconds. 7. 1 Warning for driver’s door contact, 2nd time you are eliminated! 8. No fighting will be tolerated and may result in automatic grounds ejection and possible arrest. 9. Nobody on the track except drivers, safety crew, and emergency personnel. 10. Cars/trucks will go through inspection at the gate. You will have 2 chances to get it right. [= 16pt; line-height: 115%] [/] Full Size Cars 1.Any passenger car foreign or domestic with 107” wheel base and larger. No Jeeps ,Hearses, Limousines, or Chrysler Imperials will be allowed. 2. All plastic, glass, chrome, wheel weights, and loose debris must be removed from the vehicle. A brace of some sort must be installed in the center of the windshield from the roof to the firewall. You may add a brace in the rear window of the car. You may use #9 wire, chain, 2” flat steel, or 2” scare tubing. 3. Stock gas tank must be removed. A 5 gallon marine type tank is required and must be located in the middle of the back seat. All tank, lines, and fittings must be securely fastened. Gas tanks must be covered. Keep fuel lines away from exhaust. 4. The battery must be removed and relocated on the passenger side floor board and securely fastened. 5. No extra engine cooling devices. We will allow 1 transmission cooler. Transmission coolers may be mounted on the firewall or on the floor board and securely fastened. 6. Radiators must remain in stock location. Radiator guards are allowed. 7. Distributor protectors will be allow but may not touch the cage anywhere. There must be at least a 6” gap between the distributor and the cage. 8. No solid tires. Any 7.50-15”or smaller tires will be allowed. 9. All doors must be welded, #9 wired or chained shut. Welds may be solid on all doors. Up to 4” strap 1/8” thick, no thicker. Any door that comes open and does not look safe you will be disqualified. 10. Hoods must be open at inspection- NO EXCEPTIONS! If you bring it wired shut, we will cut it open to inspect. You may use 4 pieces of 1” all-thread nuts must have handles for easy removal. The front two hood tie downs may be welded to the core support and to the TOP of the frame, ONLY THE TOP! The other two may only be sheet metal to sheet metal. You may use 2” angel x 6” long on the fenders to the hood instead of all-thread. Only one bolt per side on the fender to hood mounts and no bigger than ½” bolts. #9 wire may be used in all four locations and there is no limit on the #9 wire. Must have a 12” hole cut in the center of the hood. 11. Bumpers: You may use any factory bumper and bumper shock on any model car. No truck bumpers, trailer hitches, or homemade bumpers of any kind. Bumpers must be welded or chained in place but not reinforced. A 5”x5” plate may be used for mounting the bumper to the frame but no thicker than ¼”.We will allow hard-nosing. You may only have 26”of bumper to body welding with no filler plates. That is total on the front and rear bumpers. Front bumper must be no higher than 24”s from the ground to the bottom of the bumper and the rear bumper must be no lower than 16”s from the ground to bottom of bumper. 12. Bodies cannot be welded solid to the frame. Body mounts may be replaced with stacked washers and all-thread or bolts no bigger than ¾”. Washers use must not be any bigger than 4”x4” and must not be welded together. Bolts/ all-thread must be placed where the factory mounts were located. 13. Frames may be seam welded on top and bottom. No painted frames! All stock frame holes must remain open. No stuffing of the frames! 80’s and newer coil spring cars may be converted to leaf springs, 6 springs max. 80’s and newer coil spring cars only may plate the rear humps. Rear humps may only be plated on the outside 24”x4”x1/8” steel. Fresh frames cannot have any added metal anywhere! Frame patches must be no thicker than ¼” and no bigger than 7”x7”. Patches may be added to, two sides only or top and bottom. Two chains may be welded or bolted to the frame and down to the rear end. Chains must be loose. 14. Suspension must remain stock. No blocks, shackles, or homemade lifts. All suspension must have some bounce. 15. Trunk lids must be #9 wired, chained, or welded. If you choose to use #9, chains, or ¾” all- thread you may have 6 tie downs. Trunk may be welded solid. Trunk lids must have a 10” hole cut in the center for inspection. Trunk lids must remain in stock location. 16. A four point cage is optional but highly recommended. Cars may have one dash bar above the steering column, two in the driver’s door, and one passenger side bar and one behind driver’s seat. 17. No electrical fuel pumps without a fuel shut off switch. 18. No antifreeze allowed. 19. All cars must be inspected 30 minutes before the event. All cars/trucks will be looked over before each race. [= 16pt; line-height: 115%]Trucks [/] 1. Any ½ and ¾ ton trucks, van, suburban’s, blazer’s, and bronco’s will be allowed. Any 2 and 4 wheel drive are ok. 4x4 can only have one working drive shaft. 2. Remove stock gas tanks and place new tank in the front center of the bed and securely fastened down. Gas tank must be covered. 3. The stock battery must be removed from stock location an placed in the cab on the passenger floor board and covered. 4. A four point cage is highly recommended. Kickers may be added but cannot exceed past the front spring hangers. 5. You may weld, chain, or wire doors shut. Everything is the same as the car rules. You can fold the bed sides. 6. All frames must remain stock. 7. Any 16.5 tires or smaller. 8. All other full size car rules apply. [= 16pt; line-height: 115%]Pro-mods [/] The only rule we have for the pro-mods is driver safety.
