For what reason do you have to give your SSN to run at Blizzard Bash? You can't sell spots, but still, thats a little extreme....

Its for tax purposes. If you are lucky and win enough money you have to give the government a portion of that.

I WOULDNT GIVE ANYONE MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.......... THATS MY BUSINESS, NOT YOURS. JUST WRITE DOWN A PHONY ONE, THE GOVERNMENT GETS TOO MUCH MONEY TO SPEND IDIOTICALLY ANYWAY ALREADY. THEY DONT NEED MORE.......

Hello. SSN is only required if they pay you $600 or more. IF they pay in cash, it is not required. As Jon wrote, I would not give it out unless I were "in the money". One solution for a few drivers, at some of the derbies (and State Fair Figuire 8 race), I have done, is to pay $590, NOT the $600 for a certain spot. Then, simply hand the driver $10 cash to make the $600. Saves the driver and promoter a little paper work. David Bryan
