My buddy has a rusty 1972 impala squad car.It has a 402 in it.He wants engine and trans out of it.Told me i pull engine and trans I can have the rest.I'm just curious if it would have a BIA rearend under it,since its a factory bigblock squad car. thanks

Its hit or miss. I've had identical 72's and 73's with three different rearends.

NO, IT WILL ONLY HAVE A 10 BOLT C-CLIP IN IT. CHEVY ASSEMBLY LINES DIDNT UTILIZE THE 10 BOLT- BOLT IN REAR ENDS UNTIL THE 1973 MODEL YEAR. IF YOU FIND ONE IN A 71 OR 72, IT WAS PUT UNDER THERE BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE FACTORY... EVEN FLEET CARS SUCH AS TAXIS AND POLICE CARS GOT THE C-CLIPPER IN 71 AND 72......
