I ran an 82 and it wasn't too bad...for a metric GM. Swap your rear end, notch the rear, hard nose if possible and get a better front bumper. Check and see what your bumpers are. IDC how clean the car is, if the backing on it isn't rusty, its pot metal aluminium, one hit and your S.O.L. and 80's class for sure.

Olds or chevy engine? if its an Olds, and you don't swap it out, CHAIN IT DOWN! or the mounts WILL bust. theres no maybe there lol.

Thank you I TOOK A 1985 CAPRICE UP AGAINST OLD & NEW IRON AND ENDED UP GETTING 7th PLACE OUT OF 48 CARS.THESE CARS "REQUIRE" ALOT OF WORK TO BE COMPETITIVE, AND I REALLY MEAN ALOT OF WORK. I WILL PM YOU WITH ADVICE, AND SHARE SOME TRICKS I USED WHEN BUILDING THESE TYPE OF CARS. |

what rules are you building 2? They can be a competative car in bolt and chain or limited weld class, it will surprise you! my first car was and 81 lesabre 2 dr. i junked the car in one derby but got first in the consi and went on and had alot of fun in the feature, and i didnt do much to the car, just make sure it runs good!! heres an after pic, it was trashed but still ran hard and would smoke the tires off lol.  |
