I have a chance to buy either a 89 4 door caddy or a 92 lincoln town car, the price is about the same. Just wondering which one you guys would buy, or which one would be better in a stock to limited weld derby. Any input would be great

Caddy! It's one of most hardest UNDERRATED 80's cars.

I bought the caddy for $350 and I plan on buying the Lincoln if my dad lets me get another car in his yard. We are allowed engine swaps regardless of the make. I plan on welding a little plate in front of the a arms and on the idler arm holes. Where else do you guys think i could plate in front of the a arms and get away with it?

I ended up buying Lincoln also. I have a box ford bumper and a 74 pontiac bumper which one would be best on the front of the Caddy?

id go box ford. 74 bumper might make it bend funny in front of the arms. mine bent predictably and the box ford bumpers are plenty stout enough for a stock derby

ok thanks for the help. Would you still go with an 80's ford bumper over a 74 pontiac, if we can weld from the firewall forward?

mine was welded firewall forward, hardnosed, and skin welded to backing with ends curled and it seemed like it bent exactly how it needed to bend. unsure of what the 74 would do. im going to try an olds railroad on my 88 cadi and if it fails me then ill be back to box ford bumpers. for the $$ ya really cant beat them

can you seam weld bumpers? if you can i would just take the chrome piece off of the vic bumper weld some metal inside the bumper then put the chrome back on and beat ends around and weld them to the bumper. the judges shouldnt notice unless they look really hard
